...by saying this - the Fujifilm Finepix S3000 is a fantastic camera.
My girlfriend received this camera for her birthday a few months ago and while at first hesitant, she eventually let me play with it too. I've used digital cameras in the past ranging from your cheap 'bundled' options to mid-range devices such as the Nikon Coolpix. This is undoubtably a much much better camera.
Let's begin with the specs. This camera boasts a resolution of 3.2million ... ...zoom, a 38-228mm lens, autofocus and both automatic and manual modes.
It weighs around ten ounces, takes 4 AA batteries (included but rechargeables recommended) and has a wide wide range of accessories from powerpacks, to memory card upgrades to differing lenses and memory card readers.
The actual box contains:
• 16MB xD-Picture Card
• USB Cable
• Shoulder Strap
• Lens Adapter Ring
• 4 AA Alkaline Batteries
• FinePix Viewer 4

...Currys (who had 30% off Fujifilm cameras at the time) to have a look and I was sold.
The first thing about any product that you notice is how it looks. And I think Fuji got this one just right. It looks like an expensive SLR camera. It's silver, and so it looks great in any light (although the black adds a touch of ruggedness to the camera's two bigger brothers the S5000 and S7000). And the dials on the top make it look ultra complicated, and thus ... ...the ease of use this camera contains. Come Christmas Day when you're snapping the family, no-one will believe that your camera was less than £250.
The big selling feature on this camera is its Zoom capabilities. Fuji know this (the adverts tagline is "zoomin' marvellous") and thankfully they've used their acclaimed 6x zoom in this camera. The zoom facility is something that my previous Kodak didn't contain, and I honestly don't know how I lived ...

We bought this camera as was a good price range for us and as we started to go on hols every year we thought we buy a decent camera that would do the job for us we went to currys and this is what we bought in the end a good camera for the every day person.

The Fuji FinePix S3000 Zoom is a very stylish and affordable update of the FinePix S304 Zoom. The main difference between the two models is a video-out connection for immediate playback of images via your TV screen. The Fuji FinePix S3000 Zoom has a 3 megapixel sensor, like most other digital cameras at the entry-level end of the market, but it stands out from the crowd due to its 6x optical zoom, which is equivalent to 38–228mm on a 35mm camera. ... ...since its launch in August 2003 and can now be purchased for under £200 indeed its now on sale at dixons for under £130. But is it the right budget digicam for you?
The FinePix S3000 Zoom has a 3.34 megapixel CCD that delivers 3.24 million recorded pixels. There are 4 image sizes available (2,048 x 1,536, 1,600 x 1,200, 1,280 x 960, 640 x 480), which can be recorded as JPEGs in a range of different quality settings. The camera features a 6X optical ...

Advantages: Excellent zoom, easy to use, great tv out, great software Disadvantages: No sound, Heavy drain on batteries, expensive memory cards
I have been using this camera for 4 months now,
and have even let my 12-year old daughter use it (it really is that easy).
The picture quality is really very good - and indicates a good set of optics in this camera.
Although it is not classed as an SLR digital camera, it does look like one and has the same advantages (what you see is what you get) the viewfinder is digital not optical and shows the picture through the zoom lens.
I paid £189 back ... ...case to fit. Best place for the memory cards I have found is Amazon 128Mb for £29.99 (free postage and packing), this is a must buy as the dinky little cards are filled easily with a 3Mpixel picture
128Mb gets a couple of hundred pictures
The Tv out facility is great for showing the pictures to friends and navigating the pictures is a lot quicker than my friends Kodak camera.
The TV out cuts off the output to both the 1.8" lcd screen and the digital ...

Quick review of Fujifilm FinePix S3000
My S3000 has provided years of no-nonsense quick and powerful use. Manual control via electronic menus is awkward. Good lense that gives clear results. Lightweight and reliable.
This is perfect for someone who wants high quality results and who hasn't stacks of time or money to invest.
If you are an experienced photographer then you are going to dissagree - you will complain about the; lack of external flash port; time taken to navigate menus and override shutter speeds; etc. If you are a novice then this series of FinePix offers a thorough introduction to photography and will lead you by the hand through (or around) a comprehensive feature-set of expert settings hidden behind a simple interface. ...

Advantages: Good Quality, User Friendly Disadvantages: A little bulky
I've always owned a camera but in recent years had almost stopped taking pictures as I took so few each time the film would be in my camera for many months before I saw the results.
This changed when I took the plunge and went for a digital camera. Having been a traditional SLR camera user the SLR like shape of the Fine Pix S300 was instanty appealing - it looks just like a mini SLR with its grip on the right hand side. This does have a very small ... ...more bulky than some more traditional compact digital cameras.
The camera is well built and sits well in the hand and is not too heavy even with the 4 AA bateries it requires. The camera gives the best of both worlds in that it is very easy to set up and start taking pictures yet it has plenty of features for those who want to do more than just point and shoot. It has various automatic mode, such as those for landscapes and sports as well as semi ...

I thought I would write a quick review based on my experiencies with this digital camera...
Ive owned one for over a year now and have been extremely happy with it....Its simple to use, chunky - yet good looking (in my opinion!)

This is the second digital camera that I've owned and I was well impressed with its ease of use,I just selected the AUTO mode and started taking pictures....it was that easy, although there are lots of settings in manual mode you can fiddle around with I prefer to let the camera sort out all the settings on auto and just snap away!

Advantages: price, great shape, manual settings, lens adapter Disadvantages: poor atuo-focus in low light and in full zoom
I bought this camera to learn more about the so called 'manual' settings of advanced SLR cameras. I found that it has the right shape, settings and capability for an amateur SLR beginner like me and for most users that are anything below the 'professional' level.
It is capable of taking amazing pictures, the 3.2m pixels are more than enough for someone printing only standard sized photos and the 6x optical zoom is a great feature! Another feature ... ...or filters using the lens adapter. This allows for potentially more creative results and correction of too much UV light, etc.
So far I have learnt a lot by using the different settings of the camera and trying different combinations to achieve varied results. My favourite features are the massive(!!) zoom that beats most cameras, including probably all of them at this price range, and the macro mode that allows you take close-up photos.
However, ...

Well after a year of prevarication and procrastination I finally took the plunge and bought this little beauty. Oh it was a fretful time, knowing that in a months time there will be bigger and better and brighter ones out for the same or (shudder) even worse cheaper price.
This camera has 3.2 million pixels, 3 million of which can be used up taking your portrait shots, or beautiful sunsets or if your like me great product shots for sales on EBay.

I am just learning the capabilities of the software but if you'ld have asked me last week whether a digital camera does fantastic Black and White pix, I would have said no way, get thee behind me satan and get your slr 35mm out.
This camera is a little point and click away wonder, with macro capabilities, wide angled and telephoto. The 6 x optical zoom is what sold it to ...

Advantages: Easy to use, great zoom function Disadvantages: Uses up batteries quickly!
This is the second digital camera I have owned, and one of a few that I've used, and I have to say I've found this to be one of the best in terms of great picture quality and functionality while still retaining ease of use. In addition, the manual menu settings on the camera give you more control over the look of your photos.

At the price of this camera, a 6X optical zoom is great value. Optical zoom doesn't sacrifice picture quality when zooming in close to objects, unlike digital zoom. The camera comes with software and a cable ...

I was looking for a digital camera to take me from conventional 35mm photography into digital, but which kept the "feel" of 35mm.
The S3000 has achieved exactly that for me; I can still take control and be creative but I can also be spontaneous and use digital imagery to be creative later, on the computer.
For the price I believe that this represents very good value for money, rich with features that are actually useful rather than gimmicky.
