Advantages: Great Pictures, good quality Disadvantages: Eats batteries very quickly
I couldnt afford a new camera and after using one of those tiny keyring digi camera this was brilliant. I had priced up a lot of cameras and needed at least £79.99 for the basic one. My friend then kindly lent me his MX500 and now he has a new camera phone I have brought it off him cheaply. The camera is silver and quite bulky compared to the newer ones. I have put mine into a shoulder strap case.
He did warn me that it eats batteries (4 x AA) and ... ...ones which lasted all of about 10 minutes. Hoping to get a recharger for batteries.
As I have not yet had the manual for it I can only tell you what I have learned. It is a 1.5 mill pixel which is fab. There is an automatic flash. But when you ask people to smile expect a 10 sec wait so not so good for taking childrens pictures. I have mine set on 680 x 480 pictures and I have a 8mb card which on normal resolution pics I have had 50 pics on there ...

Advantages: Easy to use and getting cheaper by the day Disadvantages: A little limited on the software side.
I bought my Fujifilm MX500 when myself and my partner purchased a PC. The complete kit consists of the camera, software CD and download cable, including an adaptor for Macs. the camera itself is a self focussing device about 5"x3"x1", and is quite light. It feels a little fragile, but is sturdier than it looks. it comes complete with a 2Mb card, which allows 21 pictures on a normal quality picture, but only 5 on high quality. The set up menu allows ... ...little restrictive in its qualities and prefer to use others that are available.
All in all, the Fujifilm MX500 is a good, reliable place to start when it comes to digital photography, not too complex, easily used, but lacking a little compared to the later generations that are superceding it. ...

Advantages: great looks high quality Disadvantages: only a 2mb card
This is a very stylish and great looking digi cam. It offers great functionality and comes equipped with a 2 MB smart media card. The MX-500 offers excellent quality as it can take snap shots at over 1.5 million pixels. This I perhaps more than you and I really need, but for the pro’s this is nothing they would require at least 3 million pixels.
This cam has red eye reduction, as you would expect from any quality camera. As well as a flash ... ...can be found its 1.5-inch digital display screen. This could have come with a cover for protection against dirt and scratches. The machine comes with 7 functions including photo playback and locking your images so they cannot accidentally be deleted. There is also a digital x2 zoom and macro zoom.
It also comes with the necessary leads, allowing you to connect it to you PC and unusually your TV +Video Recorder.
The 2MB smart card is, well really ...

Advantages: Excellent Quality 1.5Mpixel camera Disadvantages: Slow connection - No power supply supplied
I bought the MX500 camera for a holiday to France.
It was on offer at Dixons at the time and recognising the Fuji Name I decided to buy it.
The connection to the computer is the basic serial connection which is not the speediest of links, in fact it could have done with being a USB. Downloading off just the 2MB Smartmedia card supplied with it can allow you to make a cup of tea. The other gripe I have with it is the lack of supplied mains power ... ...whopping £40. Its not as if they have made it easy to pick a multi-voltage supply off the shelves of your local electrical retailer as the 5V supply needed is not a common one catered for. The batteries can wear down pretty quick while you are downloading so be warned, It doesn't auto off when in "connect mode".
Other than those points mentioned above, the pictures come out well even on low resolution settings. The supplied Adobe Photo-Deluxe is ...

Advantages: Good quality pictures, easy to use. Disadvantages: No optical telephoto
I bought one of these at auction on Ebay. I paid about £95 but this included a 4 and 32mb card. It is very easy to use, and I use standard rechargeable batteries, which last several weeks between charge if you keep the use of the lcd screen to a minimum. Previewing via TV screen is no problem using the video connector supplied. I bought a flashpath floppy disc adapter to transfer files to PC, (I'm still using win 95) which is quite quick. Screen ... ...contrast are excellent.
Maximum quality is set at 1280 by 1024 pixels, but you can set for smaller images, and quality may be set at fine, normal and basic. I print with an Epson C70, which has seperate tanks for each colour. More economical. The camera has been reliable, simple to use, and given excellent results. ...

this is a great digi cam, with excellent results.
it has 1.5 million pixels which is more than enough.
the smart cvard it comes with cannot even hold more than 18 pictures.
when i bought it, it was £400, i regret purchasing it.
it is easy to use, but also lacks features.
the manual it comes with is not very thick.
on the back there is a 3 inch screen, which doesnt have a shutter, and can be scratched easily. it does not come witha carry case ...

I chose a Fuji camera because it had been recommended to me.
This advice has proved correct , for the price , I paid £250 , it achieves high quality pictures , you would normally have to pay a great deal more for.
The major drawback with the camera is the connection to your computer , processing pictures takes about a minute and a half , this can be circumvented by buying a card reader howver.
As a good , inexpensive digital camera , I would heartily ...
