Advantages Advantages Tasty, strong and very drinkable.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Don't sell it at my local shop!

Are you hot and thirsty? Do you want something tasty to drink; something that is intense in flavour and is strong and powerful too? Then you really should nip out and buy a bottle of Fuller’s 1845 Celebration Ale! In fact, why stop and one bottle? Fuller’s Brewery is on the site of the old Griffin Brewery – a London Brewery that sits beside the Thames. Brewery has occurred there since 1645, but the present company really started in 1845, with a partnership between Fuller, Smith and Turner. Fullers are known for a great variety of beers, both draught and bottled. These include London Pride (At ... more

Advantages Advantages Rich, fruity and decadent

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too few to mention

I'm fed up waiting for CIAO to add beers that I've suggested. With this in mind, I've had a gander through the database and a quick swatch at the shelves of my local supermarket. The result? Read on..... Fuller's beers have a unique record. Since CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) first held their Champion Beer of Britain competition, Fuller's have won the Beer of the Year award five times. Their beers have been best in class nine times and ESB has been voted Best Strong Ale an unprecedented seven times making it a bit of a legend. Advantages Advantages Strong, dark, bitter

Disadvantages Disadvantages Slightly too bitter for my tatse.

I guess I am quite lucky that within a radius of two and a half road miles of home there are branches of four of the major supermarket chains (the fifth is just four miles away). I have always tended to vote with my ‘Air Miles’ card in the past which has led to occasional changes of allegiance. We do however keep a weather-eye (should that be jaundiced?) on the other names in case of special offers or less notably stocked brands. So it was that I picked up some bottles of several of the labels from the Fuller’s range in my not-now-so-commonly-frequented emporium. I know that they are a quite ... more

Advantages Advantages Live yeast, great complex aroma and flavor

Disadvantages Disadvantages Would taste even better in an English pub

What’s in a Name? Although the brewery’s history dates back to 1654, the current ownership has been in control since 1845. Need I say anymore? Indeed the beer is a celebration of the history of The Fuller’s brewery, released in 1995 commemorating 150 years. The beer does have a Royal touch, as the inaugural hops were added to the copper by The Prince of Wales (that’s Charles), during a visit. Fuller's Bottle Conditioned ale, is a beer that has yeast added to it right before bottling. The yeast causes the beer to referment and carbonation to develop naturally. That’s right the yeast in the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Tasty

Disadvantages Disadvantages Priced more expensive than other premium ales

So what is so special about Fullers 1845 then? Well 1845 was the year that Fuller, Smith and Turner started a ale brew house in Chiswick, London. This 1845 ale was introduced to the Fuller's range of beers in 1995, to celebrate 150 of successful brewing. And what a celebration it is! Fuller's 1845 Celebration Ale is a bottle conditioned beer, and not available on draught anywhere. And its a whopping 6.3% ABV. After celebrating with a few of these, my guess is that you'll have forgot exactly what you were celebrating in the first place. Well, its a nice drink, but more of that later. This isn't ... more
