I have nightmare hair. Until I was about 16 it was poker straight hair. ...commercial break, this company called GHD advertised acting as “Sponsors of The Salon”. GHD was being marketed as the God of hair products. The "new religion in hair care".
GHD? I thought. Who’re they when they’re at home? BaByliss I’ve heard of but GHD?? And the God of hair products? Come off it! As if!!
Or so I thought….

GHD soon started to focus in predominantly on their hair straighteners. This was when my ears pricked up to listen intently. Ok. We’re always seeing these hair dressers on the telly demonstrating how easy it is to get straight hair. They run these hair straighteners through someone’s hair and miraculously the hair is transformed from a frizzy mess into a sleek, smooth head of hair. I’d come to the conclusion that it was either a trick ...

GHD ceramic stylers come in three styles, Professional (available in black or pink), Salon Styler and Mini Styler. I have the first type, though would go for the professional if ever I had to replace them. The salon is the more common due to it's price and practicality. The Professional Styler features wider plates meaning you can work quicker through larger sections of hair which makes it ideal for thicker or heavier hair. ... ...However the people at GHD to claim that the iron emits negative ions, which reduce static and create shine by closing the cuticle and that infra-red heat actually protects your hair by sealing in its natural oils, moisture and hair colour, so it could be that also! ...I have been introduced to ghd straighteners in earnest and I cant help but want to write about them.
I am actually sitting writing this sporting my newly straightened hair, which might not seem much to write home about but believe me, this is an achievement not to be underestimated… I have naturally very curly hair, if left to its own devices it will curl and frizz to its hearts content… on better days I can get some decent looking ringlets out ... ...nicely by a pair of ghd straighteners.
After only around 10 minutes I was allowed to see the results and there was a comedy double take moment when even I had trouble recognising my own hair… smooth, sleek and most of all – straight!
Some minor adjustment later and we were ready to go – which is when the real test begins… would the newly straightened hairdo last the whole evening or am I destined to return home at midnight like some frizzy Cinderella ...
