I have had one of these for about 15 years and it is still going strong, though I have recently replaced it and passed on my old one to a friend. The ability to make good ice-cream, sorbets and water ices, as well as healthier yoghurt & fruit freezes is a joy and a lot cheaper than the mass produced 'quality' ices. It is definitely NOT one of those luxury kitchen products that gets used a couple of times and then gets hidden away in a cupboard. However, it does help to have a dedicated space on your worktop or in your larder, as you don't want to be moving it around too often, and having it out will encourage you to use it. They make excellent ice cream and it is the traditional home made kind where you know what ingredients are being used and not lots of strange sounding chemicals. Much better than even the best luxury ice creams being marketed by the big supermarkets. They are very noisy though and the lid has a tendency to come off during the process. The solution is to make your ice cream in the garage and place a 14lb weight on the lid to stop it coming off! ...
