A great place to work(?), rest and play

AdvantagesA great activity place for babies

DisadvantagesThey will eventually escape

"...can be ordered direct from Galt at www.galt.co.uk or can be purchased from most baby product selling stores (if not you will be able to find a similar product). More expensive versions of this also have flexible arches over the top of the nest, in a similar manner to some playmats, with more toys to play with dangling form them, for this you can be expected to shell out around £40. If you are looking to get one cheap, at the time of writing ..." Read review

The Nesting Instinct

AdvantagesSoft, supportive and stimulating play area for young babies

DisadvantagesOlder siblings may also be attracted to it, takes up a lot of space

"The Galt Playnest was one of the very first baby items we bought when I was expecting my oldest son, almost eight years ago now. We actually picked this up second-hand from a car boot sale for a fiver, after the seller convinced us that this one item we would be glad to have. Later discovering that these sell for between £25-£30 new, we were pleased to have found such a bargain. The Playnest is essentially an inflatable rubber ring which is covered ..." Read review

Googly horses and squeaky ducks

AdvantagesInteresting textures/graphics that appeal to babies/ baby can sit propped up.

DisadvantagesLimiting concept/not portable/quite large.

"...ciao, and found that the galt playnest popped up at number three. Not mindbending loud yell-emitting surprise, but more of a slight squeak on the surprise richter scale. Reason? Well, I wouldn't personally call this item a great toy. A good toy? Yes. A sometimes quite useful toy? Yes. But a truly great toy? Nope. It's got quite a few drawbacks, and some of the plus points about it can easily be found in other combinations of other, often cheaper, ..." Read review

Baby's Nest

Advantagescolourful, stimulating, safe

Disadvantagesexpensive

"We bought the Galt Playnest when we were expecting our baby as it had been highly recommended to us by a relative who had this for their baby. We bought it from Tesco Direct for £24.99, which at the time I thought was pretty expensive but, having used it extensively, I believe it to be reasonably good value for money. The nest itself is like a giant rubber ring, which is exactly what the insert is. This needed to be blown up manually, which my husband ..." Read review

A nest neccessity

AdvantagesBrilliant

DisadvantagesNeeds a touch more padding on the base

"...when I picked up a Galt Baby Nest for £3, considering they normally cost £23.99. The first thing I did when I got home was strip off the colourful outer cover and stick it in the washing machine - luckily, this was as simple as unzipping it, and reading the handy label with washing instructions that was included. It's a small thing to pick up on, but I loved that this came with washing instructions. Then, while the cover was washing, I wiped down ..." Read review

Ring, Ring, Why Dont You Give Me A Toy Diamond review

AdvantagesPortable, washable, interesting, safe.

DisadvantagesExpensive, hard to assemble, few months of use

"...won’t have heard of a Galt baby nest unless you’ve got a baby in the family. I must admit it wasn’t high on my list of shopping priorities before I had my daughter but I now consider it to be one of my top three ‘must-haves’. The Galt baby nest comes in two types. You can buy the nest just on its own which costs about £25 or with a play gym over the top for £40. I have seen them sold in Tesco, Argos and Blooming Marvellous (catalogue for Mothers ..." Nesting Instinct

AdvantagesA bright, colourful, toy that keeps your baby safe and entertained

DisadvantagesA bit bulky to store away at the end of the day

"...baby was recently bought the Galt Playnest, and I am so impressed with it that I wanted to write and share it with other Ciao members! The Playnest is an inflatable ring, measuring 39” (100 cm), with a brightly coloured and textured cover. The cover has a quilted centre for extra padding and is fully machine washable. The object of the Playnest is to provide a self contained resting and play area for babies and toddlers (the packaging says ..." Read review

helping baby to learn to sit

Advantagesgood for helping baby learn to sit up

Disadvantagesnot so good for newborns

"I first came across this product when Charlotte was learning to sit up on her own. Mooching round Mothercare one day I saw this and thought it would be ideal to sit Charlotte in so she could play. Also it would stop my cushions getting soggy, puked on etc etc. Basically it is a ring which baby sits in, or rolls about in without coming to harm. It measures 85cm in diameter (33" in old money), and is an inflatable plastic ring which fits inside ..." Read review

Eyes dont always have 2 B in the back of your head

AdvantagesGreat value if only you now the amount of use you would get out of it.

DisadvantagesBit bulky and takes time to blow it up

"When my daughter was born she was 9lbs 1 1/2 ozs and yes people told me that it was my fault for marrying a 6' 2" rugby player, but hey I could take it. Hana was very strong from a very early stage and I knew from reading my own baby books that mum had kept that I was walking up stairs at the age of 9 months etc. When Hana was 6 months old she weighed a ton and had started to show interest in sitting up without much support and then she would ..." Round, round, baby, round, round

AdvantagesI know my daughter is safe in it

DisadvantagesBig and bulky

"...daughters, I first saw the Galt Baby Nest at my mother and baby group when i had my first daughter. Back then I though it was a good idea. So when I has my next daughter 6 months ago, I decided I would buy one. I'd seen them for sale in Tesco, Argos and on the internet, so decided i'd go to town and pick one up from Argos. I didn't know which nest to get first of all, as there was also a Galt Playnest with a play gym over it, but as I already ..." Read review

Babies love it Review with images

AdvantagesSo many bright colours and textures

DisadvantagesToo big to be portable

"...hard floor. I used the Galt baby nest once Laura was a month old, as it didn't support her very well before that although I did try as it can be used from birth. I think it really depends on how big your child is at birth. You don't inflate it too much to start with; as that is softer and more comfortable for baby but as they grow you can inflate it to solid. The cover does get a bit grubby with use but that is no problem as the cover is machine ..." Read review

The Obsession Begins....

Advantagesvalue for money

Disadvantagesbulky

"...extra hanging toys from the Galt website [www.galt.co.uk]. They are £7.99 for 4, but I’ve actually managed to pick up a few for 10p each in charity shops and, as there are plenty of spare loop holes on the gym, you can hang most toys from it. ..." Read review

Great for your wobbly babies

AdvantagesGreat for teaching babies to sit up, easy to keep clean

DisadvantagesGym isn't the best, relatively expensive

"...had been told that the Galt Babynest is the best product for babies who are just learning to sit up, and we decided to buy the version that also comes with an integral baby gym. The babynest itself is a brightly coloured cloth cover surrounding an inflatable inner tube. You can use it for a tiny baby to lie on, with just a little inflation, or you can blow it up more completely to provide a circular surround for your baby to play in. The sides ..." Read review
