    Advantages Advantages Comfortable and FUN!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Needs more games

I've had my Gameboy Advance SP for a few years now and whilst others have replaced theirs with a Nintendo DS, I'm still happy to play mine, although it is becoming increasingly difficult to get any decent games for it without delving into the shady world of ebay trading. I was given the 'Mario Limited Edition' version of the GBASP as a gift. The bottom section (where the button are) is silver and the top (where the screen is) is red. When closed, the red part has a large red 'M' on it to signify Mario, I assume. I was impressed with the way the GBASP looked. It was much better looking than its ... more

Advantages Advantages Light, Compact Design, Weight, Screen Protection, Rechargeable

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Fiddly Shoulder Buttons

The Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP really does answer the fans request, we want light! And this really is all this is over the original GBA! Ofcourse the shape and design are different but inside it is still the excact same piece of hardware. >>The Light - The GBA Sp really does offer a very good high quality light, which lights up the screen very well and makes the screen perfect for those night time gaming sessions! The Original GBA didnt have a light and some games were near impossible to see on the dark screen for example Castlevania. So the sp provides top quality lighting which can be ... more

Advantages Advantages Simple! Small! Long battery life! CHEAP!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Limited capabilitites compared to e.g. PSP, DS.

The portable games console market has been revolutionised by the arrival of the Nintendo DS, and more recently the PSP. They have revolutionised the way we play games on the move. However the best thing about these new consoles is that their predecessors are now available at knockdown prices! You can pick up an Gameboy Advance SP and a bundle of games for around thirty pounds online or second hand from specialist shops if you take the time to look for them. I bought my SP bundle from Gamestation for thirty five pounds. With it I got 5 games, a batttery charger and an official carry case that ... more

Advantages Advantages Small, built in back light and re-chargable battery

Disadvantages Disadvantages Needs adaptor for headphones

I bought this as an impulse buy. My unplayed yet working perfecty regular Gameboy Advance had lost its appeal. I sat down and wondered why. Fair enough it was portable enough, and the battery life was reasonable. But having to change those everytime they ran out became costly, especially as I had to change the light magnifier batteries aswell. Even with a light maginifier, although it was playable, the screen sometimes strained my eyes. The solution: buy one of these! It has the same hardware specs as the regular old style Gameboy Advance. You don't need to buy special games. But it gives your ... more

    Advantages Advantages small

Disadvantages Disadvantages screen not so clever

Well. I'm very unfamiliar with the hand held gaming, and gaming in general, so when My dad handed me this small silver thing with a black tribal scribble on it, I thought, ''What the hell has he got me now'' Well I opened it and saw it was a ''game boy advance sp'' Well I was still non the wiser. So it's one of thoughs zap the aliens get board and put in the cupboard till I get a new one, (if I ever wanted one in the first place). How wrong was I.... WOW WOW 3 hours later after ''tony hawk's Underground'' I was hooked. the screen is amazing quality for the size. the controls are so easy. up ... more

Advantages Advantages Bright screen, simple, variety of games, long battery life, doesn't run on batteries.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very limited range of extra features.

When I received this Gameboy Advance SP many years ago for Christmas, it was just what I wanted. I was honestly honoured to own one of these great items. I played on it for hours never putting it down, playing the different games in turn. Then the battery light turned red, and I reached for the charger, and played on it for many more hours. In my opinion I think it was one of the best Christmas presents I ever received, at a price which was expensive even back then. But it's great value for money. Years later after the fun evaded the Gamboy Advance SP I picked it up, and now my nights are ... more

Advantages Advantages durable, easy to play, stylish

    Disadvantages Disadvantages appears patronisingly simple

we bought the Gameboy advance for our 8 year old for a number of reasons. firstly cost, we got a very good deal on the console, games bundle and accessories from a very popular auction site for £140 delivered. this saved time, money and was very convenient. secondly we wanted something that she would find easy to play and as there are few buttons on this console the Gameboy advance looked like something she could deal with on her own. Thirdly it was the choice of colours that really sold it to us as we could get her one that really suited her and would personalise the present for her. i am ... more

Advantages Advantages Sidelight, easy to control, small but good screen size

Disadvantages Disadvantages Costs quite a lot

Not long ago, Nintendo created the Gameboy Advance, a state-of-the-art handheld games console which could process 32-bit graphics, SNES-quality gameplay and over 10mb of games on one single 2-inch-long cartridge. The only problem with the gameboy advance was that the design was tacky. Fans were expecting a side-lit screen, but it didn't have one. The cover wasn't matted, so whenever you try to play in direct sunlight it shone in your eyes. It also had strange lines going down the gameboy which bore no resemblance to anything. So a year later, Nintendo revealed the Gameboy Advance SP (special ... more

Advantages Advantages stlylish , more protective flip action for opening and closing , a BUILT-IN LIGHT

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not really worth paying £100 if you already own a GBA

First things first many GBA users will be pleased to hear the GBA SP has a ......BUILT-IN-LIGHT which comes in hand for playing your favourite games in the dark i.e. when your lightbulb runs out lol. The GBA SP definitely looks the part with its new smaller, more compact , more protective and more high-tec flipping action(Kind of like a flip-phone) . You can get old and new acccessories for leisure ranging from the great link cables to the not so noisy headphones . The only disappointment really is that it plays the same games as the original GBA therefore there is no real point in ... more
