Advantages: small, good screen, easy software Disadvantages: may be a little late to warn you of lane changes or exits.
I've owned the Garmin Streetpilot for a while now and used it many times.
The unit comes with a holder and suction cup which can attach to the dash or the windscreen and the power cable is plenty long enough to reach the cigarette power socket. The Street pilot also has a SD card which can be updated with maps from the internet.
The screen is quite a good size and touch sensitivity is responsive and acurate. I've never used it for speed camera ... ...lane or overtake etc. The Garmin Streetpilot doesn't do this so if you're stuck in the left hand lane you might suddenly find you need to be in the right hand lane with one a short distance to cover.
This is only a minor gripe and on the whole the unit has worked flawlessly for me and is also a bit cheaper than competitors. battery life is very good and can easily last over an hour. although presumably most people would just plug it into the ciggie ...

Advantages: Text to Speech, Bluetooth, GTM Trafficmaster, MP3 Disadvantages: In car connector a bit fiddly.
Having just purchased the Garmin StreetPilot c550t, as an upgrade to the nuvi 300. I have road tested it over the past few days, in differing locations, from wide open spaces to built up valley areas. I can say that this GPS performs superbly well and is a front runner for in car satelite navigation, at a great price. Having used TomTom, Mio, Navman and Garmin, I find there is no comparison, Garmin seem to be the current leader in GPS navigation ... ...to download free, from the Garmin website. The c550 is pre-loaded with UK and European mapping, plus safety camera warnings and points of interest.
Bluetooth connectivity works seamlessly with different phones. Built in GTM traffic master system only serves to make your journey more enjoyable although improving, the signal for traffic updates is not always available in all areas.
