A good Garmin

Advantages: Clear navigation, easy to use
Disadvantages: Camera alert noise gets on your nerves!

...many of its counterparts, the Garmin does not come attached to the suction pad. It depends on your view as to whether this is an advantage or not, but I personally feel that it is. The suction pad has a good hold on the device and because where the Sat-Nav fits on the back, it can roate around easily. I feel that it adds to the ease of use because you can just take off the device, slip it into the carry case and then put the holder into your glove ...
...that I love about my Garmin is that the screen automatically changes when it gets dark, so that it doesn't reflect too much on your screen. You can overide this setting but I personally think that it really helps to make life easier for you. NAVIGATION The Garmin is quite quick to recalculate a route once you deviate from it. It will also calculate a better route for you if you so choose and can navigate round traffic if you choose that setting. ...

Advantages: Clean, Clear, Display, Gets you there!!
Disadvantages: Power Connector Is Hard To Attach Sometimes

First off, this was a present for my mum from my dad, but seeing as i drive about to new places more than her, i seem to have used it much more than she has! first off, opening the pack, it tells you to do the first time installation- to get all the maps and your location sorted. This takes about 1 minute to do- which seems pretty quick to me although ive never used another sat nav using the sat nav is very easy - there are only a few different ...
...go: Enter Address Recent Searches these are the only 2 ones ive had to use, as you either find a new address or go to one where you have been before! simple! the display is clear and precise on the unit- with a volume control on the side to change the volume of the directions being read out to you- which is helpful if you have your music on loud due to motorway noise! also the unit feels very strong- a couple of drops and im pretty confident ...

A great basic sat nav system

Advantages: Easy to use, good graphics and POI database
Disadvantages: Bit jerky, gives directions too early, not very customisable

...POI databae. Using the Garmin is a doddle, simply switch the unit on and select Where to? This brings up a menu from which you can select addresses, POIs (Points of Interest) or favorites. The POI database is extremely extensive and includes full address and telephone information for a number of various businesses and facilities. The graphics are good and probably better than the Tom Tom however it does scroll a lot slower and jerkier than the Tom ...
...the road. The Garmin is probably better suited to GPS novices or people that simply want an easy to use navigator. It is not as customisable as the Tom Tom. For example I trialed the speed camera warning software. This just got extremely annoying. It warns you of every place there could be a mobile speed camera, which turns out to be most roads, and beeps constantly if you drive at 1 mph or more over the limit. The Tom Tom allows you to select which ...

Does exactly what you need........

Advantages: Build quality, accuracy, support.
Disadvantages: Features

...this review I'm comparing the Garmin to the TomTom300 and TomTom One, which are the 3 products I've used in depth. All 3 of the above will perform, but on balance I'd probably go for the Garmin. From a style point of view, it may appear a little less sexy than the TomTom products, but where it scores is that it appears to have a slightly better map set and seems to work better in cities when you're surrounded by hi-rise buildings. It may lack some ...
...the TomTom products outsell the Garmin when both are available, side by side, model for model. However, a couple of local independent dealers have told me that they've now stopped carrying the TomTom stock, unless to special order, as they have had fewer returns due to DOA, and they believe the Garmin technology is sounder - even if some models don't have some of the extra's that TT do. However, it's important to say that anyone would gain great ...

Does exactly what it says on the tin.............

Advantages: Clear screen, brilliant mapping.
Disadvantages: Power connector can be a bit fiddly.

After my disappointing experience with a Navman ICN720, and from reading various online reports, I was pretty sure I wanted a Garmin, I don't need bluetooth, or an mp3 player, so I bought the C510, it also had the advantage of being £100 cheaper than the Navman too. First impressions were that the unit doesn't look as impressive as the Navman, and there was no mains charger for the internal battery, not a problem, as the unit will be charged from ...
...that actually works very well. Switching it on for the first time, the C510 takes about a minute to get a satellite fix, after that, about 25 seconds, instructions are entered via a touch screen, and the whole package works brilliantly, with, gasp! 100% coverage of Northern Ireland! Fantastic! The map database is superb, having pretty much every hotel, filling station and supermarket in the country. Other neat touches endear the unit to me, like ...

Garmin streetpilot

Advantages: Takes you to exactly where you want to go
Disadvantages: None

...and i decided upon the garmin streetpilot. I said it was his new toy but my husband says he really bought it for me as i am planning to go to my aunties later this year and i don't know my way. Anyway back to the garmin streetpilot we have tested this a couple of times one to my mums and another to our new dentist where we weren't sure where that was and it was excellent the garmin streetpilot took us straight to the front door. My husband bought ...
...garmin streetpilot on the internet for free and it recharges in the cigareete lighter in the car as you go along and you stand it on your dash it says to not put it in your view of sight and it tellsyou when to turn and in how many miles. It also lets you know when there is a speed camera coming up and shows you your speed. You have to put your destination in before you drive as it will not let you if you are driving. You just put in the postal ...

Quick review of Garmin Streetpilot C 510

I bought the C510 for my partner as a present. I was so impressed with it that I got one for myself too. It is easy to set up and really just does what it says on the box. We recently went to Normandy, the C510 was in my car already as we'd used it to get to the ferry terminal at Dover. I thought i would see if it would work in France, and, it worked. Fantastic. I have had no problems whatsoever with the C510 and I can recommend it as an excellent sat nav for your car. ...

Quick review of Garmin Streetpilot C 510

This does what it says. It is a ceap (ish) out of the box product, that I think compares favourably in value for money with more expensive competitors. The maps feel a little out of date - a road that was opened up a few years ago still appears blocke,d and a swimming pool that was knocked dow nand move at least 5 years ago still appears in its old location. The real plus is the traffic. With family living inside the M25 especially, and me in the sticks, I find the up to date FREE traffic its biggest selling point. Am I glad I got it? Yes. If I were rich, would I go for a sleeker bigger model. Yes. Is this good value for money? Without Doubt. ...

Garmin Street Pilot

Advantages: Porable, Light, Tough, Up to date, Simple
Disadvantages: A Few Unregistered Place

This GPS is great and has a very acurate even if there are a few unregistered place such as where i live in Scotland. It can take you a lot of ways to your destunation and if you go of the default track it calculates the one that you are most likely to take. The main menu is great as you can save places such as friends and your home. It is light and tough but our broke when the cable didn't pop out when the GPS got stuck in a sliding door! It still ...
...as it is sort of cheap and great value for money. We got ours for free as a welcome package and thought it would be rubbish but it turned out to be fantastic. The batteries are not great on their own and the GPS is not built in to the car the cable hangs loose to a lighter but still, a great buy. ...
