    This is in my opinion, along with many others, the best game in the Xbox 360. It's........... Gears of War Background of Gears of War If anyone here is a gamer then you have probably heard of Gears of War, if you haven't then I hope you enjoy what I'm going to say.     Advantages Advantages Great offline and online content, awesome graphics.

    Now I've decided NOT to "over-do" this review, since I'm sure you guys (and gals!) want to go off and read another review or something.     With the original X-Box clinging to life early-on solely thanks to the success of Halo, it was surprising to see the 360 lacking a decent shooter for the first year of its release. Just before the competition joins the fray, however, Epic Games caters to that large fanbase.     Our first game and what a game it is. We got Gears of War as part of the 360's deal. We had a choice of games and my selection was based on top marks from none other than my fellow reviewers of course! Great job guys this really is a great game and a fine example of the 360's next generation capabilities. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The game itself ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Well its one of those fighting games.     Despite the stratospheric levels of hype surrounding Gears of War (a.k.a. GoW from here), I was pretty sceptical, partly because it looked a bit juvenile, and partly because I'm a whiney old sceptic. For me, the jury's still out. In some respects, it has the ability to slacken jaws with unfettered brilliance - in others it's firmly anchored in last-generation waters. These conflicting elements vie for your attention throughout the approximate ten hour duration, to the extent that it's hard to assess whether we've really seen genre progression or just another shooter.     Only one word can sum up this game. Yes it's brilliant, yes it's fantastic...but it's REVOLUTIONARY. This is to date, the Xbox 360's most graphically impressive game, possibly on ANY next-gen console. It drags the player into the world of Marcus Fenix ,battling his way through the Locust. And what makes this game great is the co-op play, summing up what playing together really means. Using cover behind walls and cars and blowing aliens apart with your best mate has no words to describe it...only that for a split second....you are in the game.     Gears of War sold one million copies within days of release making it the fastest selling game yet for the Xbox 360. Does this mean it is a real contender for Game of the Year, or is it merely a testament to Microsoft's marketing hype? The short answer is the former. Pounding action has you diving for cover under a constant hail of bullets that really hurt. Although the over-the-top blood splatters will certainly be too gory for some people's taste (and this is certainly not a game for younger kids) the fact that bullets seem to hurt really gives you a reason for using cover to your advantage ... more

    When I first found out about this game I didn't really pay to much attention to it. It seemed to me like another boring old tactical shooter that is typically crowding up the Xbox brand. But when it wasreleased and I saw some trailers of the game and the interesting survival and horror aspects of the game got me interested, and luckily for me I found it in a sale and decided to buy it, and I have found it an excellent game although its not quite as good as Halo 2.
