    Advantages Advantages Beautifully written poems concerning the effects of innocence and experience

    Disadvantages Disadvantages The language is often hard to read without concentration

    In his poems, William Blake has a number of underlying messages riddled in them. He seems to agree and disagree with certain things in a number of his poems which I will now discuss. In Songs of Experience, the poem called The Garden of Love shows some of the things that Blake seems to disagree with. In The Garden of Love I believe Blake tries to convey that as a child grows up things change. He seems to think that these changes are bad, for example the chapel replaced his childhood green where he had played and instead of flowers on the green, tombstones in a graveyard.     Disadvantages Disadvantages Sometimes Confusing

    William Blake is one of the greatest poets in history, in my humble opinion. Much of my life has been influenced by his writing, and I have adored his work for a number of years. There have been points in my life where his works have been a second bible, and I've often woken up in my sleep mumbling "Robin redbreast in a cage, puts all heaven in a rage.. must save robin, must save robin.." in a rather Doctor Who style way. Born in 1757, Blake was never an acclaimed poet. He used his poetry to complement his art, making beautiful artistly engraved plates, but he was never recognised for that ... more

    The work of William Blake is just heartbreakingly beautiful. If the concept of God revolves around the presence of love and happiness and joy and passion then the poetry and mythology of this man is holy. Indeed his work is so astonishing that the interpretation of his poetry has been a reference point for my development as a human being for the last year: The Blossom Merry Merry Sparrow, Under leaves so green, A happy Blossom Sees you swift as arrow Seek your cradle narrow Near my Bosom.
