    Advantages Advantages Huge game

Disadvantages Disadvantages England are not good enough to win outright

England V Germany at football is like England Australia in cricket. And it nearly was, if Australia could have got a third goal against Serbia and England one more against Slovenia. But it’s the old enemy again, England’s dithering in an easy group meaning qualification in second place and so we now have to beat Germany, Argentina, Spain and Brazil to be world champions. This Mexico 86 all over again. The fact we scored just two goals in the group suggest one is the most we can hope for against Germany. If we get one early we will have to go for the second and not sit back and concede like we ... more

During the Euro 2000, there is a comment in a media either in radio or paper, saying that the present Germany team is the worst one in 20 years. I think everybody will agree with that. From winning World Cup in 1990, and Euro 96, they went back with nothing this time. They came last in the group matches, lost to England after 34 years record of not losing to them. As if this is not worse enough, they even got beaten by a Portugal second team!! The fact is, the last time Germany won the Euro 96, they rely very much on veteran experienced players like Klinsman. Now that all those players retired ... more

    Advantages Advantages Very good coach

Disadvantages Disadvantages They still have too much players over 30

The German national Team will come back. After this horrible Euro 2000 the Germans have taken consequence. They sacked the coach and brought Rudi Voeller. He did not lose a game since he is coach. He nearly replaced half of the players who where too old for the young players from there first division. They will have great chances to win the next world Cup. They are training hard to reach that and I think they will win it. Many of you might think that Daum will get national coach soon. Wrong. After this Drug affair they dicided that Voeller will stay till 2004 which is great for the German ... more

Advantages Advantages Great pedigree and footballing tradition

Disadvantages Disadvantages A lack of strong management and confidence

Germany have failed to impress both the media and general public alike in recent times. They performed poorly in Euro 2000 and had to rely on veteran footballers such as Mattheus to try and compete on the international level. Their recent weakness was exploited by England in that recent competition. However, despite this, I do believe that a lot of the criticism directed at Germany has been exagerrated. A team of Germany's calibre does not go sour overnight, and as the performances of Hamann and Ziege in the premier League show, they do have talented players. What they lack is confidence and ... more

    Advantages Advantages none

Disadvantages Disadvantages too much to list them all

This was unbeleivable... The Germans were but a shadow of themselves. What has allways characterised their team throughout the various tournaments was their collective effort, their attitude and their winning mentality. However, the current squad is lazy (or could it be - just too old?), incompetent, talentless, and clearly lacking in spirit. In short, they were an insult to the game of football and every football fan; especially a German football fan. If they do not improve dramatically over the next couple of years, they will remain a third-rate team for years to come. Pathetic... ... more

Is it possible to be as bad as germany were? The answer is yes and England are the guilty party. As bad as Germany were England were worse. When England defeated Germany, few neutral spectators were able to claim that England were the better team. In fact on the contray Germany were superior. The problem now with Germany is the fact that there are far too few young players coming into the highest levels. A few notable exceptions are Micheal Ballack and Sebastian Deisler. The german league, in particular the smaller Bundesliga clubs and those in the second divisin are not giving enough young ... more

    Advantages Advantages lot's of potential

Disadvantages Disadvantages no form, lot's of problems

Sadly, I am unable to take much satisfaction from our 1-0 win against Germany during our Euro 2000 campaign due to the standard of playing displayed by Germany. England did not play much better in that match and we could have conceded. Most people tend to blame Lothar Mattaus - or however it is spelt(!) - although I feel that the problems lied within the managerial positions and with the strike force and midfield. Bierhoff did not play many matchs, Oliver Kahn was abysmal, Scholl had a few moment, Babbel was atrocious as was Zeige, Karsten, well, let's not be rude! They, like England ... more

being a patriotic englishman, you may understand why germany is not exactly my favourite country in the world. and so how delighted i was when we finally beat them in our only highlight of euro 2000. that aside, the germans look like they have reachd their lowest point in a decade. i think when you have to field 39 year olds at the back then the standard of football is on a bit of a decline! the germans only have a couple of players that will be able to escort them to the next world cup (if they qualify)- the rest will be hanging up their boots ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages watching old crooks

All the German international players were getting old all at the same time. Players like Jurgen klinsman,Andra Moller,Mathias Sammer,Jurgan Koller all retired after France 98. The new players that came in did not have the same ability as the one,s that had retired. But two of there players that played in France 98 still remained in Germany's squad they were Thomas Hasler aged 36 and the veteran Lothar Mathias aged 39. Every world cup or european championship that germany played in you could guarantee that they would be there till the death thats why the bookmakers had them favourites or second ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages not very good team

At first I have to tell you that I am a German. I probably watched the games of our national team for more than ten years and I have been very glad when we won the world cup 1990 and the EURO 1996. But nowadays things have changed. After the leading of Franz Beckenbauer, the best coach of the world, we only had bad coaches in the following time. First Berti Vogts and to make it worst Erich Ribbeck. We saw the result at the EM 2000 in Belgium/Netherlands. But now I hope that things will get better. And I have got some reasons: 1, We have got a new coach who can identify himself with the players ... more
