Advantages Advantages Amazing build, clarity and tone... perfection in intonation and action.

Disadvantages Disadvantages If you're looking for something light... forget it!

This was the Guitar that got me through College. It still is my first choice guitar for gigs and any recordings that I take part in. The Gibson Les Paul Studio features pretty much the same build specifications of any other Gibson Les Paul. It is a Mahogany Body with a maple top, set thru neck. Never had any problems with fret buzz, no problems with intonation, any string gauge that I have tried has worked beautifully and on the go and it has never, ever, let me down. The Action can go really low (the strings can get really close to the neck) and the clarity of your playing will not be ... more

Advantages Advantages A good buy if you are thinking of buying a Les Paul guitar

Disadvantages Disadvantages Other guitars offer better value for money

I recently bought a '93 Les Paul Studio to avoid taking my older guitars out to gigs - too many Daylight Robbers in this world nowadays! Overall, the build quality is acceptable. I have bought this guitar because I want something that sounds like a LP Custom, and the range of Gibson tones available is wider than that. It can be made to sound like an SG by using the tone controls, and it is possible to approach the "woman" tone of the ES335 with this guitar! It plays acceptably, although the bridge has to be on its lowest setting, and I have other guitars with a better action. I like the short ... more

Advantages Advantages plays like no other guitar I have ever owned

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Damned Expensive

You may be asking yourself why a 50 year old bald bloke wants a Les Paul but bear with me, there is a good reason. When I was in my teens I was in a band and we played a number of parties, church halls and pubs. i played the Guitar for about four hours every day and always promised myself that one day I would own a real Gibson. The years have rolled by and last month I celebrated my 50th. Remembering my promise and deciding that there was no time like the present, I asked for cash contribution instead of presents, found all the coins from down the back of the sofa, took back all the empties ... more

    Advantages Advantages Great sound

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not hard wearing

Being a collector of guitars and also figuring in a locally famous band (Vinyl Elektra) I have played and own a couple of Gibsons. I cna therefore tell you about one of my favourites, the Les Paul Studio. The model I have, the DC Studio, is now discontinued as produciton stopped in 1999 but I picked my up second hand and paid £600 for it. It was a great investment. Build Quality (8/10) --------------------- Gibsons have taken a lot of flak from the guitar community over the last few years. Mainly the problems with the qulity of finish has been poor. I have not found this to be an issue and ... more

Advantages Advantages Classic Styling, Superb Playability, Authentic Tones

Disadvantages Disadvantages Heavy, Doesnt Look Quite as Good as The Real Thing

What more can you say about a les paul? brilliant guitar ,subtle tones only problem is studios look pretty crappy. im in a band (called lovetank - dont ask!!) and the other guitarist plays a studio. he often laughs at the amount i paid for my standard les paul when in comparison for tone they are both equal and sometimes (although id never admit it!!) his studio sounds better than my standard!! This guitar is based on the extremely popular mid-1990s Les Paul Studio model, which featured sexy full-sized trapezoid inlays, body and headstock History Back in the day gibson and fender battled it ... more

Advantages Advantages Versatile, tough, nice finish

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Quality of hardware

A guitar I've had the pleasure of owning. A good all round versatile guitar for a dual humbucker design. It can go from a nice jazzy tone to metal with no trouble. The bridge pick up is nice for a chunky distorted rhythm and has a nice versatile tone that can be applied to pretty much any genre. It is nice and trebly. The neck pick up is nice for rounded clean tones or smooth lead lines. Ideal for jazzy tones. Combined, you just add to the versatality and with dual volume/tone controls, it just expands on that. The neck is also nice and chunky, which I like. I have big hands and thin necks ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent sound, Superb body shape, very playable

Disadvantages Disadvantages you can't put it down

Firstly I would highly recommend anyone looking to buy a new guitar or buy a guitar in the first place to buy the Gibson Les Paul Studio Fireburst. I have played Gibson guitars for around 6 years and i have never been disappointed by them. The structure and build of the guitar is superb. Also , in my opinion, the tones of the guitar are so versatile you can play anything from classic rock to blues to heavy metal on a Gibson and it will sound fantastic. I own a Gibson Les Paul Studio Fireburst and I use it for practicing quietly and for gigging frequently. Overall I think that the sound of this ... more

Advantages Advantages Unchambered... well balanced... great sound... good price

Disadvantages Disadvantages No binding...not recommended for very high volumes.

The lest paul studio is basically entry level gibson and I recommend it for any gibson beginner ( note I did not say:beginner, I said gibson beginner) first off it is very affordable if you look at the $2499 that you will be paying if you bought a standard, I bought mine used for $925 and it was worth every penny, first let's start with the finish, the fireburst finish is very beautiful and usually gibson guitars with this finish sell for more than their wine red cousins because it's a burst top not a solid color. the sound is amazing and that's because gibson used the 490R and 498T alnico ... more
