...read a review of the Gillette Venus razor and invested in one of them. I discovered I still hurt my legs if I used it with various products, until I finally hit upon the perfect combination – Gillette Venus razor with Gillette Satin Care Shave Gel. After a recent incident with one of hubby’s disposable razors which has left an inch long scar on my leg, I went to our local chemist and bought a gift pack of the Venus and the Satin Care ... ...Overall, I would recommend this to any woman out there who is still searching for the ideal solution to the problem of hairy legs. I have had my Gillette Venus mark 1 for 6 years now so I thought it would be about time it got one of my reviews here on Ciao.
I bought this when it first came out in 2000 or thereabouts, I had been an electric razor fan unti then and inicdentially at the time, my ladyshave was becoming a bit useless. So when this w\s on special offer at £5.99 from £8.99, I decided to try it.

...giving a try. Gillette for Women Venus Razor, to give it its full title, costs around £5.49. It comes in an almost impenetrable tough plastic casing, which I had to carve into with a knife. I am sure that it is no accident that Gillette named this razor after the Roman goddess of beauty as part of their marketing strategy, I for one have been converted. All rogue BIC razors kicking around my bathroom were consigned to the bin long ago. ...

Advantages: Smooth finish, no nicks Disadvantages: More expensive than rivals
My first experience of shaving my legs was not a nice memory. My mum had told me not to shave as I would regret it, but as usual I knew better. I was having a bath and decided to borrow her cheap disposable razor, and proceeded to take the skin (and some flesh) off my leg from ankle to knee! I steered clear of razors pretty much since then (I was not like a werewolf though..I just waxed!), but when I had my daughter I found that time and money would ... ...I discovered this product, and since then I have been silky smooth, and hair free, which anyone with dark hair will agree is a nightmare task as a lot of razors shave the hairs but then still make your legs look bumpy and stubbly...or maybe that was just me. I bought the razor from my local Boots for 4.89, and it came in a pack with a plastic storage casem, which comes complete with 3 spare blades, which are stored in water tight packs to make sure ...

...new stuff. Well the gillette venus razor has been out for a while now and I've debated whether or not I should give it a try (I have had the gillette for women excel razor for ages now). I've seen it in the shops and ummed and arred if I should buy it. I've actually put off purchasing it due to the fact that it is quite pricey. So, after reading a review on Ciao! earlier this morning on the Venus (which came highly reccommended) I gave in and popped ... ...clear plastic case with 'New Gillette for women Venus' wtitten accross the front. Inside the case theres a little infomation leaflet which basically just tells you about the other products in the gillette range (shaving gels and refils). It also shows you how to change blades correctly and how to attach the razor storage case to the wall of your bathroom! Good idea but I won't personally be sticking it to the tiles of our newly done out shower!

Advantages: Smooth finish, nice colours, well wrapped replacement blades, decent price Disadvantages: No safety cap on head for travel
Gillette Venus is one of those products that I keep coming back to becasue it does the job it is supposed to do and does it well.
The razor I bought and still have is about 6 years old, it is the classic blue one, though you can also get the same style in shocking pink which does look really cool. Either way you get the same razor design.
A thing I particularly like though nothing to do with the razoring itself is the case that comes with a sticky ... ...get coloured shaving gel by gillette too especially for women, to match the venus razor (in pink as well I believe), which works well although you can get the same effect with any shaving gel. The use of a gel is of course highly recommended as it makes the shave much smoother, closer and safer.
The razor itself comes initially with a spare couple of blades, mine costs £5.59, and the replacement cartridges come in packs of 2, 4, 8 or 16 I believe. ...

...these apply to me.
Gillette for Women Venus Razor costs around £5.49 and you can get it from boots, superdrug, ect. It comes in a very strong plastic packet, which you can to cut open. It comes in a plastic case with 3 spare baldes. It has a long blue handle with a pale blue grip - this helps stop it slipping when its wet. The razor is long and narrow with a rubbery handle. It is very easy to use. A 4-year-old could work out how to fit the blades ... ...you press the dark blue button behind the head of the razor and i just comes off. You even know when to change it because the blue strip fades. It comes with a little information booklet about the razor and refills for the blades.
It is quite big and bulky compared to the sensor excel razor - so it felt big at first because i am used to a much smaller razor.
I was suprised to find that with one stroke it makes the surface you are shaving smooth. ...

Advantages: flexible head, comes in different colours, hair goes away for about half a week Disadvantages: blades can be sharp and cut
The Gillette Venus razor must be an object in every household unless there are women free houses. I don't know one person who doesn't use this razor, they used to have another razor for women which was flat and a bit more fiddley but when the Venus advert was shown all women became curious. There is now a lovely even more girlie colour of razor to make things more fun a nice hot pink shade, more feminine but I have not had the chance to buy it yet.

The razor then clips onto the case keeping everything neat and together.
Inside the case you can store the blades for the razor. They don't go ...

Gillette should definitely pat themselves on the back for this one..several times! I bought the Venus razor a few months ago as I got a free mini Gillette shaving foam and body puff in a pretty silver container with it free too. It was money well spent indeed!

I first brought the Gillette razor a year ago. It cost me around £4.99. I had always used different one’s but decided to give this one a go. In the packet I also got 2 razor blades and a holding case that sticks to the wall.

Advantages: Made me a Goddess Disadvantages: Grooves in the handle get a bit mucky
...Venus was later adopted by Gillette in a clever marketing campaign that attempted to convince all women that they too could be Goddesses.
Gillette’s Venus is in fact a shaver! Oh yes, it’s a 15cm long, clear blue (now also available in pink!) plastic shaving tool with grooved rubber ridges for easy grip. 1. Beauty
If smooth, fuzz free legs a beauty makes, then yes, Venus has made me beautiful. My previous shavers all did the trick but never achieved the same close finish that Venus achieves. My Bic razors were previously my cheap favourite but they would often miss areas and leave me with no alternative than to either get wet again for a second shave or pull out the offending hairs with tweezers (ouch!). They also used to cut my ...

Advantages: Takes months to have to replace a blade, and still keeps my legs smooth and moisturized. Disadvantages: To some people...the cost.
I had bought the new Gillette Venus when it first came onto the market about five months ago. I basically bought it because it was a new product and I liked the idea of a womans razor having three blades. I was blessed with very thick hair, but it is thick on my legs too (not a blessing).

The Gillette Venus also gives you a nice plastic case holder that your razor sits in, and this case stores five replacement heads inside. ...razor is none other than Gillette Venus.
The name itself tempted me to buy it,it is so "out of this world".
I detest disposable razors,with a passion!!!
I have always had trouble with them cutting my legs to shreds, nick here, nick there, nick everywhere!
Venus is my saviour though, although admittedly I do still suffer from the odd nick, but that is generally because of me rather than the razor.
My legs are now well and truly cut free and I even ... ...show,weather permitting of course.
I love the first day after shaving when my legs and underarms are soft and smooth with no sign of stubble.
How awful are prickly legs?
Though the problem with shaving for me is how quickly the hair grows back,I just wish the hair on my head would grow so fast.
For the first few uses the Venus blade has 2 soft pads filled with a gel that is released when you shave, which makes the shaving process easier, and gives ...

Advantages: close shave, blades last well, easy to use, colour choice Disadvantages: slightly expensive blades
...A friend suggested buying a Gillette Venus razor, so I thought I'd give it a go. I was a little shocked at the price to begin with, almost £6 for the razor (with one blade) and then £5.20 for a pack of 4 blades. This is much more than I have paid before and hoped it would be worth it.
Once in the bath I soon realised it was money well spent. Attaching the razor blade was very easy and as simple as clicking the 2 parts together, with a clear click ... ...to fall off in the bath. Taking off a blade is equally as simple, you push the small plastic part just at the end of the razor and the blade pings off (I've even wasted time seeing how far I could get it to go!).
I usually just use shower gel to shave my legs and find the blades cope well and do not get gunked up from shower gel, although my friend uses shaving foam and also has no problems). The blade, on the head of the razor, can bend backwards ...

Advantages: Smooth shave, long ish lasting blades Disadvantages: The casing, the price of blades (but all blades are expensive)
I have always been a bit nervous about buying razors. You know how it starts, you use those horrible little orange Bic razors the first time, and end up with no skin on your legs, never mind no hair. I then progressed onto the Wilkinson sword one, which whilst not taking off my skin, didnt really take off any hair either...Not to mention the lynx razor, but we wont go into that.
So, walking around the super market about the time the Venus razors ... ...no guards on the blades, but also reminded myself of the furry mess I was with the guarded Wilkinson Sword one. In the end, vanity won over possible leg mutilation (the lengths we go to...) and I bought a razor with two extra blades.
The introductory price helped in my decision making I guess, but I've since bought another Venus in pink at full price.
