It felt like a serious choice and with a friend coming to stay who had stopped too, it seemed also a good chance to gain some excellent support. As part of the package with my health authority you also have to go for 'counselling' or 'cessation sessions' with a group of other Zyban takers. There's no easy way to stop smoking but Zyban worked for me. It was hell to start with but as the days turned into weeks I started congratulating myself. Nobody seems to know why Zyban works but it does work. You take it for 7 days while you are still smoking and then you suddenly realize that you don't really want to smoke as much. (Its slightly different for everybody of course.) The first day without a smoke was easy...I couldn't believe it, ...
...were awful. I felt so sorry for myself. At the end of week 2 I felt great. I could breath properly. I had more money in my pocket and I was so proud of myself. I'm now 10 weeks down the line. Its still not easy as I do get cravings for a cigarette sometimes but I manage to ignore them. (So far, so good!) I don't think I would have got this far without Zyban. It helped for the first eight weeks. Now I'm on my own...no more pills. Its worth a try ...

I have been a smoker for approximatly 20 years. During that time I had gone from 10 a day up to 40 plus. An incredible financial burdon in this day and age, where cigarettes are about £4 a pack. I have tried this product in an effort to quit smoking and have sadly failed in my attempt. I did not feel any benefits from the drug at all. Having discussed the situation with my doctor (I have smoked for 25 years) it was decided that I should give this a try. I have been smoking for 15 years & i had got to the point that i hated it, the taste the smell, everything about smoking disgusted me but i was addicted. So i went & saw my G.P for advice, i had tried patches, gum, micortab, everything you can think of to aid me in giving up but nothing had worked.
