Advantages: 2086 MB storage space, searching for emails is based on the Google search engine, still fairly new so good email addresses are up for grabs, email grouping to form a conversation Disadvantages: Attachments are limited in size to 10 MB, Cannot import contacts from AOL at the present time.

...the name Gmail was launched, Google were sued in more than one country over the use of the name. Other companies claimed to be using the name already. In the UK, amazingly for a big company, Google gave up the fight and decided to re-brand as Googlemail. So although you can still access your account from www.gmail.com the address from mid October 05 has been name@googlemail.com and not name@gmail.com. If you have an address that was created earlier, ... ...and feel as the normal Google search engine.
I applied for my account before this, and I have noticed that my reply to address has been changed to Googlemail now. I invited two friends from America recently, and they both got the name@gmail addresses still. Sign Up Process:
The process for signing up relatively simple and even people who are not regular computer users would find it simple. Before 2007, a link inviting you to join gmail would be sent to your current ... ...sign saying "Sign up for Google mail". Once you click the link a registration form will appear on your screen, asking for relevant information such as desired username, appropriate password, and security question etc. a quick note here, you can end your email address in either @gmail.com or @google.mail.com, both of which make no insignificant difference, however for simplicity I kept mine to gmail.com, as it was much shorter.

Advantages: 1GB (1000 MB) free storage, easy to use, never need to delete again! Disadvantages: Layout does take some getting use to, Restricted signup.
...What these mean?
1. When Google first announced g-mail and claimed giving people 1GB of inbox space people started talking. However, rumours started going round claiming that you wont be able to delete any e-mails. At this people started to mumble. This is untrue, what Google meant was that there wont be any need although it is possible.
2. Another feature of G-mail is that you can search through your e-mails through a search bar. This means that ... ...worried because they though the Google team would read e-mails, also what would happen if you got Spam? An inbox full of Spam wouldn’t be nice would it?

...an address you pay for. Google shocked everyone when it revealed that Gmail would have a storage capacity of 1000MB ( 1GB ) This meant that user would practically never have to delete an email ever again, assuming the average email is about 5bytes then Gmail could store 200000000 emails! Of course, some emails will be bigger and others will be smaller than that size, but on average. The mighty Microsoft (meh) couldn’t be out done though, so now offer, ... ...storage. Besides the fact that Google can read all your emails, it is THE best email service known to man. If you haven’t got it, you need to get an invite soon!

...the time of writing though Google have said it may be something they consider in the future. We'll have to wait and see. Meanwhile, if you want a GMail account you have to know somebody with one, then bribe them with money, beer or sexual favours in order to get them to invite you to have an account as well. With e-mail being the most-used protocol on the Internet just about everybody has an e-mail address ... ...laid out as anything else Google offer and your account is ready to use immediately; the person inviting you also getting a notification that you have signed up and your e-mail address automatically dropped into their contacts list.

On the left of my main page are links to default folders/labels. There are 6 of them:
Inbox, Starred (huh?), Sent Mail, All Mail, Spam and Trash. A quick click through each of them brought out some simple explanations which can be quite funny. For example the Trash one says "No conversations in the trash. Who needs to delete when you have ... ...of Gmail is the patented Google search facility. It makes searching through my email fast and effective. I assume I will definitely need to utilise this more frequently as my emails grow on Gmail. Imagine browsing through 1 GB of mail. One definitely need a good search engine to trawl through that!

...You can also 'Give Google email to a friend' using the option to the bottom left of the page and each user is given a max of 50 invites to send to their friends. At the top of the page, on your right...you've got a few more links like 'Calendar', 'Documents', 'Photos', 'Reader' and 'more' which gives you a drop down list of many more links to go to.. My favourite that I use regularly so far is 'Documents' also known as 'Google Docs'. It is very handy ... ...at home are saved on Google Docs so I can access them anywhere.. It's pretty good and the same applies to calendar which you can use to organise your schedule no matter where you are, both saving you carrying bits of paper, USB drives or CDs/DVDs storing your files.. 'Reader' is another good one as you can use this to set up 'RSS feeds' straight to your email... To explain this, you simply type in the address of the website or blog and the last posts ...
