I bought my grandfather a Goblin Aqua Vac 1100w wet and dry "cleaner", and I use it every day. Although this vac will not CLEAN your carpet it can be used to vacuum up spills and unblock drains etc if you remove the paper filter inside. I have used it on spills and picking up foam cleaner from the carpet, and it works fine. I have been told that these filters do not need changing for years, so that is good news for keeping down the upkeep! There ...

...I decided to buy the Goblin 3 in 1 multisystem, it was £80 in Index and is brilliant. As a carpet cleaner it cleans just as well as a Vax and at less than half the cost, the only disadvantage is that the spout which sucks the dirty water back up easily becomes blocked with hair and dirt and it is quite heavy as the cleaning water is contained within the suction head while the main body holds the dirty water and boy is it dirty. ...up all dirt and cat hair so I tend to use it more for this purpose than my standard cylinder hoover. Another advantage to this system is that the hose is very long and I can hoover the whole downstairs without having to plug it into another socket.
