...This game is the original GOD OF WAR for the Playstation 2…
God Of War was released on the UK PS2 in the July of 2005 by Sony Computer Entertainment and sadly, I didn’t even know of its existence until last year (2006). I could go on about how much of a pity it is that I didn’t know of this game from its date of release… but I’m not going to. All I am going to say is that I’m extremely happy that it came to my attention at all. This is the best ... ...out to Ares – the God of War - that he will give his life to him in exchange for help to overcome the enemy and to bring the Spartan army victory.
Having heard this plea, the clouds part and the mighty Ares falls from the sky. Ares then wipes out the entire Barbarian army - sparing the life of Kratos in doing so. The cost of this victory however is immense to Kratos. Having been saved by Ares, he is now required to be a servant to the God of War. ...

Advantages: Amazing visuals; excellent orchestral score; deep fighting system; great puzzles; the world of Greece and it's beasts are amazing; a lengthy adventure with a ton of replay value. Disadvantages: Not much, it's a little on the challenging side but that's a good thing in my opinion.
...Rez, ICO and, of course, God Of War. We'll soon be seeing God Of War II in stores in a few weeks. I've already pre-ordered it and can't wait.
-(The Story)-
When the game starts, you'll see the main character Kratos saying ''The Gods of Olympus have abandoned me. Now there is no hope.'' and jumps to his doom. But before his gruesome death, we get taken back a few weeks earlier and see why were even here in the first place. It turns out the God Of ... ...-(The Gameplay)-
Most of God Of War's gameplay consists of combat, but there's the odd puzzle thrown in for good measure. You have many attacks in God Of War. Like i mentioned before, you have strong and light attacks. Light attacks are the weaker moves but can be used in a combo more whereas stronger attacks are more powerful but can't be used as combos as much as weaker attacks. You can mesh weak and strong attacks together to make really big ...

Advantages: Excellent plot, superb visual and sound effects Disadvantages: Mild nudity, not suited to the game, lots of violent images
...to know that in Sony's God of War, you play fallen Spartan warrior Kratos, who is the darkest and most brutal anti-hero I've come across in some time. In the setting of ancient Greece, Kratos is on a mission from the Gods (for the record, nothing at all like The Blues Brothers) and a personal revenge crusade, and people will die. Lots and lots of people.
The most immediately noticeable and empowering thing about this game is Kratos' extensive fighting ... ...cursed gift from the titular God of War, the Blades of Chaos are two short, chunky swords, each attached to a forearm by a chain embedded in his flesh. Kratos also gains more weapons courteousy of other Gods throughout the game, including the huge Artemis Sword, the Army of Hades and Poseidon's Rage.
Graphically and aurally, God of War is exceptional. It is possibly the most attractive PS2 game, with stunning vistas throughout (Athens is a particular ...

Advantages: Stunning Graphics, Great sound, Nice Story, Excellent Gameplay Disadvantages: Slightly more variation in the monsters
...pretty cool.
That's what God Of War is. It's not puzzling and difficult, nor is it clever and funny, but by god it's fun. In the first couple of hours of playing I had reverted back to my primordial roots. Between staring open mouthed at the sparks and blood flying before my very eyes, and 'wow'ing at the fluent and complex fighting system, I was guffawing like a maniac at the sequences where Kratos gouges out the enemy's eyes or decapitates a centaur ... ...thing.
The storyline of God Of War is of Kratos, who is a greek warrior, seeking redemption from the pain and death he's caused people in the past. Only by fulfilling the gods' desire to kill Ares, the god of war, will he be granted eternal rest. The game really taps into greek mythology, with legendary monsters such as centaurs and Medusa making their appearance.
After playing Onimusha 3, I instantly noticed a similarity between this and that. ...

...of that God. But the God was traitorous, soon Kratos realized his true enemy, he must kill the God which had once saved him, to finally be at peace.
I'll start with the graphics. They are simply beautiful. The environments are flush and smooth. The textures give everything a crisper look. Reflections are incredible. But what makes it stand out is the sheer size of most of the environments. They're huge, you'll probably just stop every once in a ... ...parts were Kratos meats a God and get their power. Then level them up like the blades. That was the fighting. For the puzzles and platforming it's pretty simple. Most of these puzzles are easy but exciting because usually when a puzzle comes along Kratos won't be alone, enemies or other hazardous materials will be there to piss you off since a lot of them are timed. The platforming is just jumping on and over things. There's also some pole walking ...

Advantages: Incredible graphics, sound and game play!! Disadvantages: May be too gory for some
...the minute you start playing God Of War you are thrown into the action!
Even during the training tutorial you are slicing through numerous enemies and spearing gigantic Hydra's through the head with the ships broken mast!
The story starts with Kratos jumping off a cliff saying ''The Gods of Olympus have abandoned me. Now there is no hope.'' The fast pace of this game make it very enjoyable! You'll be flinging enemies into the air, throwing them at other enemies, tearing their heads off and just generally slicing and dicing anything in your path! It's this sheer brutality that makes the game fun!

Advantages: Terrific violent gameplay, an atmosphere worthy of greek mythology, great weapons and fighting moves, plus too many more to mention! Disadvantages: Not one for the kids, the game has to end.
...of the best things about God of War. Kratos is a Spartan warrior who used to work for Ares. Due to a betrayal by Ares and Kratos being down and out, he then goes on a mission of revenge against the God of War. He is also helped by the other gods and is given powers, as Ares is not the most popular chap on Mount Olympus. Kratos has a dark past and is literally an evil nutcase. God of War is a great combat romp, with you getting a great variety of twisting moves from the off. In addition to slashing the hell out of enemies you'll be able to throw them about, knock them into other foes, meet them in the air, and even juggle them. There is also the added bonus of having fatality moves, which can be used on most foes. On the easier enemies you simply tap the circle button and watch Kratos ram their ...

Advantages: Brilliant story, gameplay, music, scenery. Disadvantages: No multiplayer, God mode is rather difficult.
Kratos kicks ass. God of War is an Adventure-Puzzle-Platformer-Action-RPG combination game (but mostly Hack and Slash IMO*), in which you take the place of Kratos, a Spartan warrior and champion of the Gods of Olympus, wielder of the fiery Blades of Chaos, powerful weapons and numerous magical abilities gifted to him by the Gods. The aim of the game is to hack and slash your way through the seemingly infinite amount of mindless enemies until you ... ...***** Gameplay in God of War consists of button mashing, dodging and blocking. By no means does this make it boring. In fact it's probably one of the best hack and slashes I've played, and I've played one or two (seriously). In all honesty though, I think it's brilliant. It's so easy that almost anyone could pick up the controller and play, and because you end up with something new every so often you don't get bored, or end up with repetitive strain ...

Fantastic gameplay, fantastic graphics, fantastic storyline... watch out, Halo!
This game had me hooked for several days in a row, even though I'd won it several times before!

Advantages: Great Visuals, Engrossing Story, Challenging Disadvantages: Can Be A Little Too Challenging For A Casual Gamer
God of War follows the Story of Kratos, The Ghost Of Sparta. When the God of War, Ares, assaults Athens with an Army the gods recruit Kratos as their instrument against the rouge god. Advantages: Engaging, interesting, fun Disadvantages: Not for young players (hence the 18 certificate)
God of War is a RPG in which you play Kratos, a warrior from ancient Sparta, in Greece. He has twin blades known as the "Blades of Chaos" literally chained to his forearms, and he uses them to defeat his enemies.
The game starts off with an amazing opening sequence of Kratos jumping off a cliff to commit suicide. The game does not totally explain to us why, however, and we then see back into a flashback of sorts that lasts the whole game - the tale ... ...and even Ares himself, the god of war. Each monster requires a different strategy to defeat.
The game also includes a number of puzzles that you have to solve, these range from fairly simple to figure out, to extremely challenging in later stages of the game. The graphics of the game are truly astounding - the human characters look very realistic, especially in the cutscenes, and the monsters look how I imagine them when I think of Greek mythological ...

...really a gaming fan but GOD do i LOVE this game. I have never actually played anything better than this game. Every aspect of this game is good. The story line, the graphics, the game play and the in game videos.
Our character is Kratos who we can see if a very tough guy. The begining video shows Kratos depressed and trying to take his life. I wont tell you the story and ruin it for you so dont worry. The story line of the game is very well thoughtout ... ...and one is just waiting for the next one to come up. Playing the game on the easy level is not fun at all.
