...the various Final Fantasies!
Golden Sun looked good, it had rave reviews, and apparently some of the best graphics to date on the 32 bit Gameboy.
Trouble was, I couldn't locate it in the shops, and once I'd seen this game on the 'net, nothing else would do!! According to sources it had been released, just was very hard to come by, and so to Ebay I travelled, and promptly purchased a copy for a bargain £25.00 boxed and 'as new'!
Golden Sun is a ... ...storyline to boot. Golden Sun thankfully has all those. Those of you familiar with Final Fantasy will be at ease with this game straight away. That is not a bad thing, for this is no copy of Final Fantasy, it just borrows elements from the game, most noticeably the turn based strategy orientated fighting system. Running along you will end up in a fight, even though you there was nothing on the map screen warning you of enemies!! This is totally the ...

...hyped Final Fantasy series. Golden Sun, you may know, is nothing to do with Squaresoft - but Chrono Trigger was - and what a game it was. Never released in the UK - it was an old-style console RPG that simply blew my mind away. Fantastic game play, an engrossing story line, and a mammoth quest all equalled an unbeatable game. I have to admit I was very disappointed by Breath of Fire - the other RPG game on the GBA - its learning curve seemed to steep ... ...back within a week. Golden Sun is basically everything BoF was not.
The game begins with a time old premise - its young hero being awoken from his bed (come on gamers how many times has this been used? Zelda, CT, FF...) by his worried mother - a fatal rock fall is imminent in their hometown of Vale. You then take control and guide your hero to safety - but sadly, you cannot save some others, including your own father. The game swiftly moves on to ...

'''Golden Sun'''
===Overview===
Golden Sun, I must agree has been the best game that 'I' have ever played in my life till now. Its just amazing. I loved the whole conept and just loved the story. Its just too good. The way they have involved the fighting scenes, the encounters, the mystical creatures, and the characters is just really very commendable.

...the pleasure of playing.
Golden Sun, as I've said is an RPG (or role-playing game for those unfamiliar with the terminology) made by a company called Camelot (No relation to the flawed Lottery company I can assure you! :)). The basis of the story is that Alchemy is the basis of all things in the world - in this case a world known as Weyard. Alchemy itself is split into the four elementals of Fire, Earth, Wind and Water with everything in the world ... ...For the stat-lovers out there, Golden Sun is packed full of them, so you can tweak every aspect of your heroic party in order to best prepare them for the many challenges they undertake.
The one thing I liked in this game was that it was very challenging mentally. Don't get me wrong, we're not talking rocket science here, but some of the puzzles that need to be overcome require quite a bit of cerebral effort on the gamers part, and there's a sense ...

Advantages: Hours of Entertainment Disadvantages: Long passive conversations where you can't save
I had never really played an RPG on the GBA before I got Goldensun, and I can honestly say that I think this was a good starting point. The game is very easy to get into with tips throughout the game on how to use certain things, but not on a structured level. Games such as Mario have boxes that tell you how to use items as you come across them, but this is subtly different. You have to search for the tips which makes it very satisfying when you ... ...game runs with one main character and then adds others along the way. The story can get a bit complicated and you tend to forget what you're supposed to be doing but the good thing is that that doesn't matter. There is no set structure to the game so you can just wander into towns and see what's there and you generally end up doing what you were supposed to anywat, and if you don't you tend to run into someone who will 'remind' you of your quest ...

...So, it seems that Golden Sun have actually overcome the brilliance that is Zelda, but there is yet to be a Zelda game confirmed for the GBA, I can't really see Zelda beating Golden Sun, very likely drawing, but only something as original as Celda (Cel Zelda) will beat this title. RiCkOsS ...

Golden Sun is definitely the best game I have on my GBA (and I have loads of games on my GBA including Super Mario Advance 2). It’s the first original RPG to grace Game Boy Advance and one of the most intricately designed and monumental Japanese RPG’s I’ve ever played.
A large part of Golden Sun’s magic lies in the way the plot becomes the driving force that keeps you adventuring. ... ...I can’t stress enough how extraordinary Golden Sun is. It’s deep enough for the RPG veteran while still accessible and appealing to the newbie.
When I bought it I realised my life was before. It took me 32 hours to complete this great game. Unmissable.

Advantages: Great graphics, story and addictiveness Disadvantages: Difficult in many places
...this, i'll tell you that. Golden Sun is an RPG, where you control Isaac, a young lad about to embark on an adventure(sounds familliar)to save the land(I think I've heard that somewhere). Even without originality, Golden Sun starts off with a gripping storyline and start to the Game: The volcano overlooking Isaacs town is errupting, and you have to help other towns folk escape as well as yourself.
After this, your adventure begins, as you leave the ... ...level. And this is where Golden Sun's problems lie. You get stuck so easily that nomatter how addictive the game is, you'll often feel tempted to just put the game down and not play it again for some time.
Which is a shame, really, because at heart Golden Sun is a brilliant game, and you can't critisise a game for being too hard(unless, of course, it is really unfair)
All in all, Golden Sun is a class game, but unless you have loads of time on ...

...we need to wait for Golden Sun 2 to be released before we can play on (hint hint Nintendo!). Some of the talking sequences seem to go on forever, but despite this it is still a very good game, though I would only recommend it to fans of RPGs.
