It seemed as if just about everyone in my workplace was talking about a new Internet application called GoogleEarth, and so not wanting to feel left out I decided to give it a try for myself. Since downloading Internet programs at my workplace is forbidden this was done on my home PC.

Google earth is a neat little program released by the boffins at Google and it allows you to view the world from space or more specifiically satelites. Many key places in the world are shown in exceptional detail down to 200ft in places. On the other hand, other places no detail is shown. - like my grandparents town - it just appears as a blur on the map.
It is a rather expansive program but even on a dial up connection i wouldnt think it takes ... ...ask you to download the google toolbar as well its not worth the effort in my opinion.
The first time you run Google earth it will most likely seem like nothing has happened - this is normal - be patient, the first time, it has to connect to the googleearth servers to log you in and so on. It also has to setup default setting etc.
Once you are in there are two ways to find a place.
1, click in the box at the side of the map of the earth and type ...

Google Earth is almost undoubtedly the most powerful programme you can get on your personal pc/laptop. Google Earth allows you to zoom in on anywhere in the world and take a look around. There are also quite a few streets now that you can view multiple photographs of. Google Earth offers much the same idea, except a thousand times better. Instead of being browser based, Google Earth (GE from now on) is a program that you download and install on your computer, and then run. All the images you view are streamed from google, they are not stored on your computer (as this would take up far, far too much space), so you must be connected to the internet in order to use it.
GE has satelite photos ... ...wrote this review, a new google product has come out, to be found at local.google.com . This is basically a browser based version of google earth, and is much faster and doesn't slow your computer, so I would now recommend this over google earth! just go to the site, type where you want, and then click 'satelite' view on the right of the map that appears.* ...

...by a friend to use Google earth as i have a big interest in travelling around and wanted to plan my next trip.
I downloaded the program for free and was not disappointed when i started using it. This program allows you to view the world from space or more specifiically satelites around the world. I have found many major places around the world are shown quite clearly whereas on the otherhand,some places are merely shown as a blur on the map and ... ...probably make you feel dizzy.
The program itself is a relatively small program to download if you have a broadband connection but if you have dial-up then it will take quite a while. If you have the patience for downloading it with broadband then i would certainly recommend it. Google Earth is free of the website and is a satalite image from around the world. It facinated me so much and its all for free. Although you can pay for the beter version. You can even type in a streetname and it will come up. It make you feel like you are flying over the world.
How Does It Compare to Others
From what i know there isn't another piece of sofware which has a satalite image and if there is i havent heard of it but the great thing ... ...charge. Although you can buy Google Earth Plus for $20 or Google Earth Pro for $400 so pressumably those versions are upgrades from the free edition and they might be advertising a demo version to make people buy the other versions. Google fails again fails again to let us down. I would also say the price will fall in the future.

Google Earth is a program that you have to download from the website (http://earth.google.com/). You don't need to subscribe, just download it (11.2MB, so if with a decent connection it shouldn't take longer than a couple of minutes), install it and/or run it and start playing with it.
Although Google is not advertising it very much and it's still quite a new thing, this is one of the most exciting programs I have found in a while. There are different ... ...time, as this data gives Google a very good profit so that the company itself is more interested in doing so.
2.-.Google Earth Plus (only for Windows)
This is not a free version. You need to pay $20 for an annual registration. It may be the fact that it's not free but it is very much complete. ...nifty little number by the google group is the google earth application. It allows you to see anywhere (just about) in the world via a satellite image. In its early days it was quite flawed as only the most popular areas were shown, but now everywhere is shown. You can spend hours looking at the world's greatest landmarks from the pyramids to Niagara Falls and even have a quick sneak peak at a certain Area 51! One place I found that you couldn't ... ...time scouring the world.
Google Earth has also changed the way we travel. To find directions to a place we used to have a look at maps. Now if you use the google maps option on the google homepage then not only can you use maps, you can use satellite images to help you which makes finding somewhere you have never been to before far easier. This is because you now see landmarks close to where you need to be and use them as a marker, and trust me ...
