b-LIME-y

Advantages: Lush and so easy to drink
Disadvantages: So easy to drink too many!

...the ideal person to review Gordon's Edge, but he's having a go. So forgive him his efforts, because it might be worth your while, if you can get hold of the same product on the same offer... Gordon's gin is at least one of the brands of the juniper-derived spirit that theediscerning has heard of, at least. So for something so esteemed as that to make an alcopop you must be expecting something a bit posher than the average. This is borne out in ...
...a big swirling G, and Gordon's Edge is in dominant black on a silver block. Also the bottles have an edge - taller and straighter, with a nice angular shoulder. Again it's a dark, rich green. Which only goes to disguise the fact that the contents look just like slightly sparkling water on pouring. The great thing is, as well, the Edge goes down just as quickly and easily as water. This really is one of the smoothest, drinkable alcopops to be sampled ...

A taste of life on the Edge

Advantages: Tastes like gin and tonic
Disadvantages: ...so why not have a gin and tonic?

...is reassuring to see the Gordon's logo on a bottle of Edge and know that whatever else may be lurking in the bottle, the gin is top quality. And what a fine bottle. Slightly squat with a wide body, angular shoulders and a hint of green in the glass, this is a bottle that says 'Hi there, I'm going to refresh you while simultaneously making you look cool'. The label is a plain non-gimmicky black and white job, with a yellow flash at the neck and base ...
...prominent feature is that sweeping Gordon's signature. There's a growing desire among manufacturers to move alcopops away from the teenage market and towards a demographic that's older, wiser, more sophisticated...read 'richer'. They're targeting the twenty- and thirty-somethings and in particular they want to get more males in on the alcopop scene. Hence brightly-coloured labels and contents are out and we get products like Gordon's Edge. You know, ...

stick to the real thing

Advantages: its ready to be drunk
Disadvantages: it tasts fowl

G & T is my tipple nothing better than getting in from a hard day at work and relaxing with a Gin and Tonic. So when I saw Gordons Edge I thought great I'll have some of that and threw it in my shopping trolly. It seemed the perfect answer. I prefer my tonic with a hint of lime, but cant always get it. I hate my tonic flat which happens when the bottle has been open for a couple of days. I also hate it warm and if you forget to but a bottle in the ...
...T This is the answer I thought, a freshly opened bottle every time it has lime, it wont be flat and I can keep a few in the fridge so they are always chilled. Then I tryed it. OK I know its an alcopop but this was sweet and sickly and left a nasty after taste and not a hint of gin, it doesnt even taste of lime and lemon. Even my teenage daughter who is into alcopops didnt like it. One swig and she handed it back. Although it did clean the sink ...

Gordon's Edge

Advantages: Cheap, Unique in the market
Disadvantages: Specialised Taste, strong kick

Gordon's Edge is a very novel idea from people who thought they'd seen a gap in the popular (and profitable) alchopop market. We have vodka based drinks, and rum based drinks, why not one based on gin made by the most famous gin company? The simple reason why is that the alchopop market is based at a age group which probably won't appreciate the taste of gin. It's not often you find groups of 18 - 23 year olds all drinking G+T in a pub or on a night ...
...have the desired effect, however gordon's seems to be trying to offer something the product cannot deliver. Right from the first time you open the bottle you know if you're going to like it or not. There is that familiar smell of gin and although not all that strong it seems unexpected after the packaging and so has added impact. The taste has been dulled by adding alot of citrus flavouring, however it is still definately there and the other major ...

Don't mistake it for a GandT

Advantages: more grown up than most alcopops
Disadvantages: doesn't come close to a good G&T

I actually got quite excited when I saw these bottles appear on the adverts and headed straight to the pub! I'm a proper G&T drinker though most of my mates take the piss out of me for being posh etc. I'd even made suggestions to my mates that they wouldn't have a problem with it if it was in a bottle, coming from the proper alcopop generation and all (Oh why didn't I patent it?!) In lots of ways they're your average alcopop, at 5.5% abv and at ...
...bar)to the other big brands, and so I expected a similar quality. So there I was, in the pub, and very disappointed. I tried the lemon one first, and it wasn't what I expected. I was hoping for a cool, refreshing but sharp tonic taste, but what I got was the flavour of cheap lemonade. It tasted like artificial sweetners but it didn't say whether it contained them or not. Next was the lime, an improvement. At least it's different from all the other ...

nicer than i thought

Advantages: Lovely and sweet without being sickly
Disadvantages: Could have more choices on flavour

I'm not a gin person but as this was the only alcopop with lime flavour that was left i bought it and was very pleasantly supprised. It's got a nice sharp flavour and unlike many alcopops it doesn't taste sickly sweet. There is enough lime to complement the gin without either being too overpowering. Another good thing is unlike vodka alcopops it doesn't make you feel like someone turned on the central heating and you can happily dance the night away ...
...nice if you could buy a bigger bottle in the supermarkets as I don't know about you but for me one isn't enough. There's nothing else to say but i've got another twenty or so words to go so please ignore this rambling and don't mark me down because of it :@). ...

Don't have to like Gin to like this

Advantages: Yummy
Disadvantages: Can forget its alcoholic

Gordon's Edge has not been on the market for very long but already it is a mega sucess. Incase you had not guessed this rink is made from Gordon's gin, it comes in two flavours which are lemon or lime. The beauty of the drink being that it dosen't taste much of gin so it dosen't matter if you can't stand gin. However you can forget that this an alcoholic drink as it taste just like lemonade and is really refreshing. The product usually sells for ...

Review of Gordon's Edge

So whats its Edge?

Advantages: A quite enjoyable way of getting Blasted!!
Disadvantages: Price aint the greatest!

Id never tried Gin before, so when my boyfriend suggested we try this new Alcopop i wasnt all that keen. I have got to give it to him though i was pleasently surprised by what i experienced. It had what i can describe as a dry taste while being refreshing at the same time. After swapping between both the Lemon and Lime flavours i would say in the end the Lemon got my vote. Ive since tried a G&T from our local boozer, and do agree that they arnt to ...
