Advantages: Great Graphics, Great Realism, Great Price, Good Selection of vehicles Disadvantages: Too much memory card blocks needed
Gran Turismo 2 has got to be the best Playstation game ever.
It provides great graphics, extensive gameplay, and a wide array of cars. The graphics are extremely crisp and fast, which makes it the most realistic looking game I've ever seen. There are over 600 real cars, from real manufactures, ranging from a Mini Cooper to a Subaru Impreza, and from a Ford Focus to a Dodge Viper! The gameplay is also very realistic. You start off the game with a ... ...game is on two discs, Gran Turismo Mode (the full game), and Arcade Mode (racing cars without having to save up cash or gain licences).
The only problem I have found so far, and I have owned the game since the day of it's release a couple of years ago, are that it takes up too many blocks of your memory card. The game data took up 5 blocks of mine and each replay takes up 2 to 3.
All in all Gran Turismo is a fantastic game. At only £20 it is a ...

The original Gran Turismo (GT) game heralded a major step forward in racing games. It proclaimed itself to be 'The Real driving Simulator'. Well it didn't recreate trying to get a parking space on a Saturday morning at Woolies, but as far as track racing (Y'know, cars going round and round) it was on the mark for a 32-bit system.
GT2, 'The Next Stage of the Real Driving Simulator', was the highly anticipated follow up. GT with bells and whistles ... ...IN MY CAR*
GT2 is split into two main categories: 'Arcade' and 'GT mode', each on their own disc. Arcade offers the player (that's you) a smidgen of cars and tracks. Each track has a difficulty level of Easy, Medium and Hard. Completing all the courses on all difficulty levels earns a reward. In GT it was a high res mode, in this I don't know what it is. I've been 'going at it' with GT mode.
Arcade mode allows the player (again, that's you) to ...

...first expression when I played Gran Turismo 2 for the first time. I've actually got a PS2, but nevertheless, i'm sure that the game quality is just as good on PS1. I bought this game as soon as i got the PS2, for just £17. What a bargin. It must be the best money that i've ever spent! What makes GT2 so great is its shear scale. It has quite a few courses to choose from, about 26 i believe, which can all be raced in reverse, effectively doubling the ... ...a real life racing track from the USA, with the famous 'Rollercoaster Turn', which has been faithfully reproduced in this game. The tracks themselves are very well designed. They all have their own unique characteristics, and you never get a feeling of "I've seen this somewhere else", even when you drive the circuits that are actually shortened versions of some of the others, such as the Seattle and Rome short and long tracks. Plus, no two tracks ...

Gran Turismo 2. I’d seen a lot of reviews about it, and I’d seen it being played on Tv shows when it was first released but I’d never actually got round to playing it and as an avid fan of car games, I don’t really know why I held back so much from playing it!
I then saw it available for rent in Blockbusters, so I thought what the hell and rented it, and I’m glad I did! Suddenly I was deeply engrossed in this game, ... ...The cars in Gran Turismo are excellent. With so many available I thought that the control of the cars, look and sound of them would all be a bit of a let down. I was wrong. Each car has its own unique sound, true to the real life sound. They each have their own capabilities such as speed and performance. Each car also costs a different amount of money. How do you get money? By either winning or taking part in races. You can also take your car to ...

Advantages: Great gameplay, countless car configurations Disadvantages: Arcade disk not up to scratch
In this review I will go over both GT2 Cds
SIMULATION DISC
The GT simulation disc is great. You start of with $10000 and buy a car. Then you race it and earn money. You can unlock new races with bigger Prize money by earning licenses. This feature is good, but some license tests are really hard. Although the game has great replay value due to so many customiseable car parts and the such, I found once you had the International A license (best standard ... ...which offered a car and money to the value of $94000 which was the easiest track in the game (just a loop) destroyed the experience for me.
ARCADE DISK
This disc is shocking. It is just like any arcade racer, and has no real reason for playing it when you can play the simulation disc. the only cool thing is the option of importing cars from simulation mode, so you have supercharged cars. If this was standalone, It wouldn't sell.
GRAPHICS

Gran Tursismo 2. The follow up to the nigh-on perfect Gran Turismo. Gran Turismo, the real reason I bought a Playstation in the first place. That's the hype this game has to live up to in my eyes, no mean feat let me assure you. And guess what, not only did it meet my expectations, it exceeded them...
Gran Turismo 2 takes all the best elements of Gran Turismo, and improves on them. More cars than the original. Better graphics than the original. ... ...the original. You get the idea!
Polyphony Digital really went to town on this one. Whereas the original game took only cars from Japan really, here we find the garages divided up into 'cities', helpfully named after the four corners of a compass. East City, unsurprisingly, holds the cars from the Japanese manufacturers (Nissan, Subaru, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Tommy Kaira, Daihatsu, Mazda, and Honda), West City holds the American manufacturers ...

Advantages: loads of cars, tracks, championships... Disadvantages: a bit annoying now and then.
Gran turismo 2 is far bigger and better than gran turismo 1. Gran turismo 2 contains most of the tracks and vehicles from the original game, plus lots more.
After quite a long (and good) FMV sequence, you are launched into the game. First off, the game has hundreds of different vehicles from 33 of the world’s leading car manufacturers. These include Japanese manufacturers such as; Nissan, Subaru, Honda and Suzuki, American ones like; Ford, ... ...are three modes of play; gran turismo mode, arcade mode and multiplayer arcade mode. Gran turismo mode takes up the whole of disk one and allows you to first, obtain licences to race, then to race in different championships. As you complete these championships, you win prize money and sometimes valuable vehicles. With the prize money that you accumulate, you can buy new vehicles and buy better parts for the ones you already own. You start the game ...

This game is billed as ‘The REAL Driving Simulator’, and that’s a statement that’s not too far off the mark! With hundreds of cars to choose from, and a selection of both road and rally tracks, this game should last you a good long time. The graphics are smooth ... ...real life counterparts.
One of the best elements of this game it the ‘Simulation’ mode, where you race for money. This adds a large amount of longevity to the game, and ensures that you keep coming back for more. The licensing system is also a good idea, and it will take you ages to get a gold rating on all of the tests. The game comes with two disks: Arcade and Simulation, and they do exactly what they say. The Arcade disk lets you ...

...and a vague tournament structure. Gran Turismo 2 takes an inspired, original approach to game structure, one that other games producers would do well to follow and develop. The premise is simple. Several circuits are also available in shorter or reversed versions which can be fun, especially on the bumpy Seattle street circuit. That in itself is not really a problem, but the Playstation's inability to ...

This is my favourite game of all time! There really is no game like this. It's best to start off and finish the arcade part first (it is far easier to start off with believe me), although you do need to get all the licences on the simulation disc before you can complete the arcade version (it opens up more levels).
