    Green Day is a hugely successful band hailing from Oakland, California. Their latest album, American Idiot has sold well over 15 million copies and has propelled the band to an even higher level of fame than any other band in the punk rock genre (in modern times anyway). ****History**** -A Start In 1986 a young Billie Joe Armstrong (Guitar/Vocals) got a guitar for christmas of his mother, he still plays with this guitar to this very day!     Without a doubt Green Day are what punk today is all about. Constantly fresh, ever questioning the very building-blocks of society. Sat proudly next to Pearl Jam they have been one of the most influential American alternative bands. Whilst their music has not been the most inventive, focusing predominantly on power-chord driven riffs with simple bass lines following and emphasising the flow of the song, it is lyrically and through their fusion of 70's punk with the more grunge-like sound which emerged to prominence in the time their major label début Dookie was released in 1994.     It's not simple for me to write in english, especially now that school is gone since a lot of time. Excuse me, a lot of years! Anyway, I try to talk abot Green Day, my favourite punk rock band of the moment. I bought the last Green Day's album, which is called "American idiot". It's a great album, full of a lot of very good songs. For an example, I like so much "Boulevard of broken dreams", "Wake me up when September ends" and "Holiday". From there, the band has gained Tre Cool (drums) and rocketed from the early 90's Californian punk rock scene to become one of the worlds most famous rock bands.     Greenday are a punk band with a range of albums. They are similar to bands such as new found glory and blink 182. If you are looking to buy an album that really shows off greendays talents then get their 'best of' album: International superhits. Unlike blink and NFG the lead singer has a less poppy voice, and their songs are very catchy and have great basslines, chords, and catchy lyrics. Very good band and very much worth going to see them live or buying any of their albums especially dookie or international superhits.     When I first heard Greenday, some years ago I loved them. I couldnt buy thier albumn fast enough or play them enough times. They had the funniest, catchiest lyrics of the time, within their genre and you just couldnt help singing Greenday songs on the schoolbus at the back with all the other 'weirdos'. Unfortunately since punk became popular, Greenday seem to have focused more on pleasing the masses to make themselves rich than their music as it has definately gone downhill.     Greenday are one of the firsts!and still great today if i were to recommend i would say to start with try their greatest hits,this has classics like Time Of Your Life, Basketcase,Waiting loads! and then if you like this then you can purchase the older albums such as Dookie.Greenday are very catchy with their lyrics and are Great at bringing the fun factor into Punk music.This group could teach so many of the new bands a thing or two!I dare you to listen to time of your life without singing along!Greenday are one of my fav bands i class them in a league alongside the foo fighters and the Red ... more

    What a band green day are class. I Firsted listened to green day today and realised they are really really really good. Fantastic even. I love the debut single it is just ' beast' i love it i cant stop listening to it. I love the part at the beguinning were it just rocks the house down. Its class. Over all green day rocks they are beast. I also love the style of the band its just out of this world. I wish i could be in a rocking band likegreen day.
