Advantages Advantages ~Tasty sausage rolls, great customer service~

Disadvantages Disadvantages ~Queue's can be a bit long sometimes~

I don't often visit Greggs, only occasionaly do I pop in for the odd sausage roll. I can't help but enlighten those who haven't visited though, and to recommend going in to one of the many shops around. In fact, you'll find that Gregg's have popped up in most places in towns and cities, pleasing fans of their products for sale. Gregg's bakeries are well known for their delish selection of products available and pretty faultless customer service. With over 1,000 shops scattered across the UK, the company has expanded into a popular and well established business. IN THE BEGINING... Years and ... more

Advantages Advantages Sandwiches, and sausage rolls from heaven!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Sometimes the donuts are a bit small.

Gregg's was founded as a family bakery business on Tyneside in the 1930's by John Gregg. But it was only when John Gregg passed away during 1964, that under the careful supervision of Ian Gregg, the son of the deceased, the business truly began to flourish and develop. He embarked on an ambitious expansion plan, which would see multiple stores opening - first in the north east, and then finally the entire country. Carrying on with the family tradition the business ensured that all produce was baked fresh, and it line with that particular part of the countries heritage (such as stotties in the ... more

Advantages Advantages Tasty food, quite cheap

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Long queues often

Im quite a big fan of Greggs and often pop in for my lunch if I am out shopping and need a bite too eat. However I can't say I go all the time as it is not number 1 on my list of bakeries, but still it is a treat and the smells of the shop, and taste of the food is enough to send you to heaven. Greggs is a very popular bakery, well the one I go to is, and the queues are often really long, sometimes to the back of the shop. However, this is not always a bad thing for me as I sometimes need up to ten minutes to decided what I'd like to buy, which, is usually quite alot. Service in Greggs is ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, filling food; nice baguettes; efficient serving staff

Disadvantages Disadvantages No guarantee of savouries actually being hot; may be pushing out indepedents

As the Greggs juggernaut rumbles ever onward, there must surely be fewer and fewer people who haven't experienced what is now one of Britain's largest fast food chains, with the number of their shops running well into four figures. They call themselves the country's largest specialist bakers, but really that phrase makes them sound like some old-fashioned small concern, when in fact although they consisted of a single shop in Tyneside until the 1970s, they're now a massive business that would be better compared to the takeaway divisions of the likes of McDonald's or Subway. The shops With the ... more

Advantages Advantages Fresh food, reasonably priced, wide variety of products

Disadvantages Disadvantages Queues can be long and confusing, no seating area

I have worked for Greggs on Saturdays in the Greater London area for nearly four years! From a young naive sixteen year old starting her very first job with false and frankly idealist perceptions about working to a seasoned worker of twenty years old understanding the value of money and realising that I should be better paid! The reason I stayed for so long was that the shift pattern on Saturdays and the occasional Sunday fitted neatly into my schedule as I completed my A Levels and I am now in my final year at University. The people I worked with were and are so funny and friendly and we have ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages can be expensive, and we run out

If you can't tell, I am an employee of Greggs and I work as a Saturday girl in a South London branch (north cheam!!). But this does not mean I am biased towrds Greggs, it means I can give you advice as to when si the best time to visit and whta tastes the nicest!! Well, the branch I work in is yet to be revamped so were looking a bit tired, not the best start for when you walk in. But most of the London branches have now been revamped in blue and orange, nice modern feel. My shop is more old fashioned and we wear the old uniform (yes the silly hats). Personally I think the new style is far ... more

Advantages Advantages nice choice of fillings

    Disadvantages Disadvantages always busy

How many times do you find yourself in the middle of a busy high street and realise it's lunch time? Maybe it's just me but I always seem to time my shopping trips at the wrong time of the day and end up shopping right over lunch time. In the majority of high streets you will be faced with a huge variety of eateries offering a quick bite to eat, whether it's the healthy option you're looking for or a burger etc, there is usually something to tempt you. I always seem to either go for the supermarket sandwich, or a quick fix of a burger. Getting fed up with both of these options as all varieties ... more

    Advantages Advantages Excellent Pasties

Disadvantages Disadvantages Queues Can Be Quite Long At Busy Times

Greggs the Bakers seem to be taking over in Sheffield where I live and there are now five different branches within the City Centre, yet judging by the queues outside they certainly seem to be far from reaching saturation point. I find myself visiting these shops on almost a weekly basis and I would put their success down to two main factors. These being: 1) Their very competitive prices and 2) The fact that Greggs Pasties simply are the best Pasties in town. The Background John Gregg founded Greggs as a small family Bakery business in Tyneside during the 1930's. Growth of the company remained ... more

Advantages Advantages wide selection, competitive prices

    Disadvantages Disadvantages -

Nowadays, there seems to be such a big selection of places to eat out or get a quick snack. I love going to places like Subway and Starbuck's but sometimes even they can mount up to a lot of money if you have to go every lunchtime. One place however, that I regularly go and still feel is great value for money is Greggs. They are a baker that have been around for a while and still have competitive prices and great food. There is a Greggs in Edinburgh every mile or less it seems so they are getting bigger and opening more stores so if you haven't heard of them I would find it strange. Greggs ... more
