I recently crashed into a empty parked car (I'd even slowed to avoid it). I had a moments lapse in my concentration and BANG. Followed by a DOH from me. Anyway, at that point all hell broke loose. I used Groupama for my home contents and buildings insurance i put in a small claim for £450 for storm damage to my roof i was told to get two quotes and send them in which i did. Atfer not hearing from them for some time i phoned and they told me they had tried repeatedly to phone the quotes but were unable to get any answer from either of them. I rang the quotes myself and was told that nobody had rang either of them at any time. “Groupama Insurance” is a name that I never wish to come across, as a customer. I do, however, hope that if I am ever, EVER unlucky enough to run into someone – I hope they are insured by Groupama because I know that I will get off the hook. And why? Because they are absolute rubbish when it comes to looking after your – their customer – interests. You will have to phone THEM and BEG them to deal with the bad guy who damaged your STATIONARY vehicle, most likely deem your car a write off, offer you £350, less your excess – thus nothing. I was driving along when a van drove out of a Garage straight into us. Simple - you would think! Telephoned groupama who seemed very helpful, they asked all the relevant details and told us the information they needed to process the claim. Basically - I have telephoned them every day and spoken to a different person each time from the engineers to the underwriters - I have been told different information each time! I never usually write reviews, however, when my car was stolen I read up on reviews for Groupama to give me a heads up on the service I was about to receive, and they could not have been more wrong...I am just glad I read the reviews after I purchased my insurance and not before. Waking up for work one Tuesday morning I pulled up my bedroom blind, and to my horror realised my car has been stolen throughout the night. My Audi was written off in May by a drunk driver (I wasn't in the car at the time - it was parked outside my house and wound up in my front garden). It's now mid October and still this case has not been resolved - I'm out of pocket by at least £2,500 and counting, as are the owners of the other 4 cars in my road that this drunkard wrote off at the same time. Groupama have shamefully poor business processes and I spent the best part of 4 months and a lot of cash in trying to sort out the communication disconnect between them and their broker (hardly my responsibility).
