Disadvantages Disadvantages I realy cannot think of any at all - this book is perfection.

Hi there and welcome to my review on a wonderful book named Guess How Much I Love You. This is specifically the Jigsaw Puzzle Book. I discovered this book a few years ago at a christening in Pontefract. It was a fairly low key service conducted by the most odd female vicar. As part of her service, she read a story to the children present in the room. That story was Guess How Much I Love You. Since that day, we have been in love with this particular book and never tire of it. Guess how much I Love You is written by Sam McBratney. In his very own words, Sam spent his time - post war - "in short ... more

Guess how much I love you is one of the most engaging children’s books ever written. It is a really simple short book, which shows how difficult it is to tell someone how much you love them. Little nutbrown hare is about to go to bed but like many youngsters he wants to be reassured he is loved. He gets big nutbrown hares attention by pulling his ears forward, much as a small child pulls an adults face towards them when they want to ensure they have your full attention. Little nutbrown hare asks big nutbrown hare to guess how much he loves him and stretches his little arms as wide as he can to ... more

'Guess How Much I love You?' is a delightful little picture book for young children. It tells the story of Big Nutbrown Hare and Little Nutbrown Hare who both love each other very much. In fact, they love each other SO much that they find it difficult to describe just how much so they enter into a little guessing game with each other! It all starts when Little Nutbrown Hare is getting ready for bed and before he goes he wants to make sure that Big Nutbrown Hare knows how much he loves him. So he lifts up the big hare's ears and whispers 'guess how much I love you?' to which the bigger hare ... more

My son, James is just three, he is a wonderfully considerate and giving boy. He shares his sweets and toys with other children as well as sharing the occasional knuckle sandwich with them; well he IS a boy after all. Even before he was born he was giving, he gave his Mum morning sickness, he gave me plenty of kicks in the back as his mother cuddled me and he gave his sister a book when she was born. The book was “Guess how much I love you.” By Sam Bratney illustrated by Anita Jeram. Well if I’m truthful, I suppose I ought to confess and say it was really me who bought the ... more

*Why I wanted to purchase a bedtime book* My daughter is two and a half and loves books, she has many books and always brings me many books a day to read to her. She loves to listen and pretend she is reading as well as looking at the pictures, while learning new phrases and words. My daughter has been in her big bed now for three weeks and I decided this was a great opportunity to read her a bedtime book; it relaxes her and also me after a long hard day. It is also a great routine and she knows after the book has been read it is then cuddles, kisses and lights out. It has been reported that ... more

Guess how much I love you is one of the books that I came across whilst working as a nursery nurse before I had my son and I just knew that it would be one that I had to buy for him when he arrived. In fact I think he ended up with it in miniature form, normal sized and a huge book as well-though they weren’t all bought by me! The book guess how much I love you was first published in 1994 and is written by Sam Mc Bratney and illustrated by Anita Jeram. My version that I am reviewing today is a paper back but the front cover does feel very tough and has with stood being ready many times over ... more

GUESS HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU, GO ON….. GUESS! “Do you love me as much as chocolate?” “More?” “Do you love me as much as vegging out at the beach?” “Even more??” “Do you love me as much as spending time on Ciao??” “Surely not even more than that?!! Yeah? Wow!!” How much do you think Big Nutbrown Hare loves Little Nutbrown Hare? This is what the book, Guess How Much I Love you, is all about ….. ok … so it doesn’t actually mention chocolate, vegging out at the beach .. and nope, sorry it doesn’t ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages a truly beautiful book, available in many versions

So often in life the simplest ideas and design have the most effective and stunning results. Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney is a perfect example of this. First published in 1994 it is on the surface a simple story-book with young children in mind. However in just 20 pages, with no more than 30 words per page it conveys so much emotion and thought behind that greatest of mysteries, love. From the moment we are born we are programmed to attach such importance to love, being loved and loving others, and yet it is an emotion which we are often unable to find words to describe ... more

Ahhhh! What can I say about this book. It is quite possibly one of the most endearing books I have ever read. Forget soppy...when you are tucking your little one in bed at night and they take on the role of Little Nutbrown Hare and take the story further then the hardest heart is melted. Let's explain... THE STORY This is about Big Nutbrown Hare and Little Nutbrown Hare. It is night time and guess what... like many little ones, Little Nut Brown Hare does NOT want to go to bed. So, he tries avoiidance tactics (where have I encountered these before?) He pulls Big Nutbrown Hare's ears and asks ... more

Advantages Advantages Wonderful message of the limitless love of parent for child

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Competition? One-up-manship? Naaah!

I was browsing through the children's department of my favorite local bookstore, looking for a gift, when this title caught my eye. I settled down on the floor for a read, and fell in love. Big Nutbrown Hare is getting ready to put Little Nutbrown Hare to sleep for the night, when Little challenges him to guess how much he loves him. Big can't guess, so Little stretches his arms wide and says, "This much!" Big stretches his arms even wider and returns the love. Little keeps finding bigger and bigger ways to express his love for Big, and each time, Big outdoes him by virtue of his greater size ... more
