Advantages Advantages Better than the orginal two.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Need the guitar which is £20 extra.

I'm sure most of you have read my Guitar Hero 2 review and hopefully enjoyed it, well here it is, the new and improved version GUITAR HERO 3.. I wanted this game since it came out, I brought the second one back in September but without the guitar and found that to be alright, but a couple of weeks ago I got a call from my mum asking if I wanted Guitar Hero 3, she had managed to find it in Tesco's for £25 instead of £50. I of course said yes and the shop had made a mistake but had to honour it… I only got the actual game on Christmas day and have played it religiously since. Packaging If you ... more

Advantages Advantages Incredibly addictive, great soundtrack

Disadvantages Disadvantages A bit pricey, could have even more songs

The third installment in the prolific Guitar Hero needed to be good in order to match its rival Rock Band, and it doesn't disappoint. Activision has produced the best in the series so far, and the rival games will have to step up to match this one. The aim of Guitar Hero 3 - Legends of Rock retains the same gameplay as the previous two. Using a special guitar-shaped controller, the players aim is to hit notes as they scroll towards the bottom of the screen in time with the music to boost their score whilst busting out an awesome tune. The user has to press down the correct fret buttons whilst ... more

Advantages Advantages Uses the old PS2 platform

Disadvantages Disadvantages still costs you a minimum of £30

By all accounts Rock and Roll should have been finished by 1959, and the Playstation 2 should have be a ‘dead’ platform by 2005 –but somehow, both refuse to die. We still listen to a surprising amount of four chord sixteen bar riffs, and the PS2 continues to be the highest volume games console of all time. Guitar Hero III ‘Legends of Rock’ masterfully exploits both anomolies. Guitar Hero is available on a number of formats – including Nintendo DS, Xbox, PC and PS3 HOWEVER the humble PS2 is still in the frame and capable of providing if not endless hours of entertainment, at the very least, a ... more

Advantages Advantages extremely enjoyable and origional

Disadvantages Disadvantages can be a little expensive, hard to put down!

I drooled over this game for a while before someone finally brought it for me for Christmas. Since then, it's the only game to have been in the playstation! I have the game which comes boxed up with the controller, this costs around £50 in most places, though I have seen it slightly cheaper more recently. It is possible to buy the game without the controller which is obviously cheaper, but I don't consider this option worthwhile as the game play is not at all the same without the correct controller, however I belive that the controllers from the two previous guitar hero games are compatible ... more

Advantages Advantages so addictive, brilliant game

Disadvantages Disadvantages so addictive! does get progressively harder which can frustrate

I'll be totally honest with you guys, I really didn't see what the big fuss was about this game; you sat there with a smaller than life plastic guitar, hitting a button or two looking like a complete spoon. I had always been the one sitting there watching others play while I refused, mainly because I know my co-ordination is crap and I have really small hands. (lol) Anyway it wasn't until one day my partner was at work, there was nobody in the house and the stupid plastic guitar was sitting in front of the tv inviting me to push all the right buttons. I thought 'what the hey' there was nobody ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent song list, good learning curve, excellent replay value

Disadvantages Disadvantages The lead singer design is awful.

I'm a Guitar Hero addict. This series of rhythm based guitar playing has completely restored my faith in gaming. After a particularly bland spot through the early 00's of story based games I found myself buying SNES and Megadrive games on Ebay to satisfy my need for good old fashioned pick up and play enjoyment. Guitar Hero is the first game to really capture that spirit again, in my humble opinion. For those out there unfamiliar with the series, Guitar Hero is a rhythm based game that sees you becoming the lead guitarist of a band. Replacing the usual PlayStation 2 controller is a Gibson SG ... more

Advantages Advantages Good songs, good graphics, great interaction

Disadvantages Disadvantages false advertising with certain songs

If you're looking for a game that's easy, fun and addictive then this is the game for you. The graphics are brilliant, the music is superb and it is so easy to use. The menus are easy, and not complex like some games. The game itself is probably the fastest loading game I have ever played and doesn't have you sat staring at a LOADING graphic for a couple of minutes. The controller you get is a guitar which is fantastic fun to use. There are 5 coloured buttons on the neck of the guitar and there is a plucking button on the body of the guitar which you have to strum as you play a note, like a ... more

Advantages Advantages very easy to use, good sound quality

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Bad graphics

I found the guitar hero: 3 game a very fun and enjoyable game, that can be played with family and friends at all gaming levels. A wide veriaty of songs allows most users to play meny songs they enjoy in 4 levels: easy, mediam, hard, and expert. This means that no matter what standard you are playing at, you can enjoy it without getting bored of failing a cirtain level. The games graphics are not particularly good, but the sound quality of the game is without a doubt exellent. The practice mode is very helpful, as you can break down the songs and the full song, or chunks of a song at a veriaty ... more

Advantages Advantages Very addictive, many songs, new modes.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Worse than GH2 in nearly every way, HO-PO system is bad, most songs are bad.

I can shall do a quick pros and cons list, just so you can quickly decide on it. Pros: Has many songs. Around 70. Has a lot of mainstream songs. Most bands you know; you can play there biggest hits. Gets insanely challenging, but can still be easy enough for most people to get into. Is very addictive. Looks quite nice. Graphics and art design are slick. Has a new battle mode and now has guitar boss battles. Most songs are master tracks. Has downloadable content; new songs and quite a few are free. Online mode with battle mode and versus mode. Has a co-op set list. Cons: Inferior to Guitar Hero ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Dont get wireless controller

I love guitar hero, im addicted to it. I was slighlty let down by guitar hero 2...but I have to say they certainly made up for it in Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock! So whats better? The songs, there is a great variety, some more classics that we totally forgot about in the other 2 games and some other entertaining ones (try doing dragonforce and say its easy!). The fact that the songs are actually performed by the actual bands, because lets face it there were some pretty apalling covers on the first and second games! I love the fact that you can battle the likes of Tom Morello (RATM) and ... more
