GUITAR HEROES WANTED TO ROCK THEIR SOCKS OFF!!!

Advantages: A little guitar!!! Some great tunes to rock to!!!
Disadvantages: So many more GREAT songs out there!!! We want them ALL!!!

...discovered… It is… GUITAR HERO!!! Developed by Harmonix Music Systems and published by RedOctane, Guitar Hero was released on Playstation 2 in April 2006 across Europe and has proven to be a great success with one sequel already and another on the way… but before I get to far ahead of myself, let’s cover this first installment of the Guitar Hero franchise… First things first, Guitar Hero is quite a unique game that allows the player to simulate ...
...the playing of an electric guitar in doing so. “So… how exactly do you emulate the playing of an electric guitar on the humble PS2?” I hear you ask… Although the game is available on its own and allows the player to use the normal PS2 joypad to play the game (which must surely destroy the whole point of the game on practically every level) it is also available packaged with a guitar-shaped controller to allow a much more convincing gameplay experience!!! ...

the forgery guitarist

Advantages: a fun game, good music, play a guitar
Disadvantages: none

...my birthday I thus said guitar hero game and we discussed why this game would be more enjoyable than some of the other games [games for heroes]. My father said that it was the worst idea for a game which he had actually ever heard. However, my opinion of this game was the complete opposite of this. It is a video game which is cheeky with Guitar. How couldn't that be exciting? Thus, I received the game as a present. I was slightly ecstatic to see ...
...with a perfectly well made guitar controller panel (a black Gibson SG, model) I was astonished. I coldly realised that the guitar was much smaller than a real guitar and because of the size it was handled with a little difficulty at first but after a practicing it becomes very easy. However all guitarists know that you must always be very careful indeed to with guitars and you must ensure to not let the guitar fall from your hands, not to step on ...

KISS YOUR AIR GUITAR GOODBYE!!

Advantages: Feels like you're playing a real guitar and makes you feel like a Rock God!
Disadvantages: Makes you look stupid, (kiss your dignity goodbye), looks like a kiddy's toy from Toys R Us

...version of an air guitar: GUITAR HERO! This game has already being out for nearly a month, and shops are still getting sold out as soon as they are coming in. The aim of this game is to play songs as well as you can, and get the best score by getting as many right notes as you can. By getting more notes right in a row, the more points you will earn because of a point multiplier in the corner of your screen. Without the controller, (more soon), ...
...it is when the special guitar hero controller is plugged in when the magic of music really starts. The controller is a sold plastic SG Gibson, (for you guitar-lovers out there). It is the exact same shape as a normal guitar, apart from the size, it is about 1/3 of the size of a normal average guitar. The guitar has many features on it. Instead of having five different strings on the neck, it has 5 different coloured buttons, which are green, red, ...

Rock out with Guitar Hero!

Advantages: Great game that makes you feel like you are playing a real guitar!!!
Disadvantages: The quickness of the notes makes you feel a bit dizzy

Introduction Guitar Hero is a game made from the company "Red Octane". Who haven't actually made much of a name for themselves as video game producers, as Guitar Hero is pretty much the only game that they have produced. The game is played by either pressing buttons on a Playstation 2 controller as they appear on the screen, or alternatively, by strumming notes on the strum bar whilst pressing the fret buttons in time with the notes as they appear ...
...Optional Controller: SLEH-00049 (The actual guitar controller) Gameplay- 10/10 This is where the game really does shine, when I first saw this game in magazines, I thought the gameplay would be on par with other music games such as Dance Dance Revolution and SingStar Party, games which didn't really appeal to me, but I was wrong. I would only play this game with the proper guitar controller, as it seems playing this game with a standard Playstation ...

Are you ready to rock?

Advantages: Excellent soundtrack; awesome gameplay; Guitar Controller is responsive and really immerses you into the experience; lots of value; beautiful graphics engine, though you won't be seeing it much.
Disadvantages: Costs a heck of a lot.

...'Sony Computer Entertainment' and 'RedOctane'. Guitar Hero has made quite a name for itself. It has released it's sequel on the PS2 and was recently released on the Xbox 360. Soon, there will probably be a Guitar Hero 3, and Harmonix will be releasing a game called Rock Band, where you not only get to control a guitar, but you can also use drums and a microphone. Think of it as Guitar Hero+Donkey Konga+Singstar Rocks!. -(The Controls)- The controls ...
...controller, you use a plastic guitar made by RedOctane themselves. To play you basically need to push down one of the five coloured fret buttons on the neck of the guitar and, instead of plucking strings, you push the strum bar to hit the notes. There's also a whammy bar just for some special fun. If you're worried about going into the game with no clue on what to do, don't worry anymore as there are tutorials which show you how to play. There are ...

I Love Rock n Roll

Advantages: fun, different, appeals to the casual gamer
Disadvantages: short lived novelty value, exspensive for two player mode

...pete townsend impression with this guitar controller like you can with your trusty air guitar. In theory this sounds like the perfect idea for anybody that dreams of being a rock star but just does not have the time (or ability like myself) to play a real guitar. This product had just such great appeal for me. When I first heard about its development I just thought it sounded like so much FUN that i had to get it. The Kit For a total of £50 you ...
...and a somewhat pointless guitar glove but hey i am sure some people use it. The controller itself plugs into the normal controller slot on the PS2. It contains 5 "fret" buttons and a large white tab that you "strum" to play a note like a real guitar. There is also a pitch bend handle as on a real guitar. Overall the controller is of a good size and is well made (although it is not heavy duty enough to be thrown around). The playing of notes is fairly ...

Time to Break Out the Guitar

Advantages: Rocking out to the greatest songs of all time | Great graphics for those watching
Disadvantages: Could use some more songs | More unlockable / purchasble content

...so ridiculously addictive and fun? Guitar Hero hits this game right on the gaming industry nail. Even such an idea of a game must of made them think this would be an instant hit, who needs the thrill of their garage band and trying to make it big with their friends when they can just play this? Guitar Hero allows you to play several famous songs, including Ace of Spades, I Love Rock and Roll, I Wanna Be Sedated, Iron Man, More Then a Feeling and ...
...will need to purchase a guitar hero guitar (which you can get in a bundle with the game itself), with this, you plug it in a rock out to the tunes. You use five frets, a strum bar and a whammy bar to thrash out notes at a very slow speed of a hyper speed depending on your preferences and skill. When notes come flying down the board at you, as they reach a little circle, you will then play the note needed, and the music will play as it would if you ...

Guitar Hero or Zero????

Advantages: Great for guitarists or complete begginers
Disadvantages: No upgrade shop on easy mode

Guitar hero is the first of 2 games in the series by red octane. It is for the PS2 and is rated 12+. It's a 1 or 2 player game and can be played with the guitar controller or a normal PS2 analogue controller. The guitar controller is supplied in most packages for this game and the second in the series. I love this game and when I got it for Christmas I was so happy and couldn't wait to get it fired up and start rocking. Being some one who doesn't ...
...sponsored by Gibson, a major guitar company, So all of the guitars in game are Gibson's and the Guitar controller is modelled on the Gibson SG. - The Box- The box for the package is about a meter long and 30cm wide (approx.) and contains the SG style controller and the game. Also included is a set of Red Octane stickers!!! The box is mainly black and displays clearly what is in it and in game pictures. The box for the game is a usual PS2 slim line ...

...plastic, yet comfortable and ergonomic guitar in to my arms and put the strap over my head. I chose the first song, I love rock and roll. And that's where it started. The addiction kicks in in the first few seconds. That's the brilliance behind this game. It's so unbelievably simple and yet so challenging in the later stages that I'm still playing this game 2 months on. Just to give you an idea about how good it is, I bought a playstation two just ...
...have been brilliantly executed. The guitar fits in all the right places, but you might benefit from having quite big hands. Especially in the later levels when you have to reach those far away buttons. What you basically have, is five buttons, green, red, yellow, blue and orange. These are the fret buttons. They simulate a real guitarist pressing down their finger on the string, on the neck of the guitar. Then, you have 2 more components. What I ...

What is Guitar Hero? ************************ Guitar Hero is a great game by Harmonix, the makers of Amplitude and Frequency. In which you take the part of a guitarist, but not just the part you actualy are the guitarist, you have to press the notes and strum in time to score points and open up more songs. Sounds complicated and it is at first, but is such fun and soon becomes second nature. How does it play? ********************* I'll try to ...

The Jimi Hendrix Of Music Games

Advantages: Brilliant Playlist, You feel like a rock star
Disadvantages: A couple of the covers are awful, Can get very difficult

Guitar Hero is a bemani game. There, I said it. Like all bemani games, you watch the screen for little icons to come scrolling along then hit the corresponding button and hope to hear something nice. But GH is different. Sure, the above procedure applies but thats where the similarity ends. For a start you get a guitar peripheral in the box. Quite solidly made but I've heard rumours about the whammy bar breaking off. You even get a set of stickers ...
...least, if you tilt the guitar towards you, you activate star power. This basically gets the crowd on your side and doubles your score. The game has 4 modes: Career: Where you start out in dank basements progressing all the way up to summer festivals. Better performances mean more cash with which you can buy new characters, songs and guitars (for your avatar). Single Player: A chance to get a high score on any of the songs you've unlocked. Advantages: new modes, characters and most importantly songs from every genre of rock
Disadvantages: no online play (ps2) and limited multiplayer options

...(complete with brain-melting 5 minute guitar solo) and crossing everything from Punk, to Nu Metal, to Grunge, to Rockabilly. The thing that sets the Guitar Hero brand apart from any recent game is the learning curve. On first picking up the game you will laugh to yourself about how terrible you are, but practice really does make perfect and the difficulty of the songs increase along with your skill and reaction speed. The new practice mode allows ...
...over, and even slow down the track in order to nail those incredibly fast passages in more difficult solo's, this has turned into an invaluable addition to the game, as players no longer need to play through whole songs just to fail on the same section time after time. New characters, guitars, and bonus tracks (including a near impossible instrumental from Buckethead) bring depth and longetivity to a game that already has it in abundance. In conclusion, ...

Guitar Hero II

Advantages: One of a kind.
Disadvantages: Not enough songs.

...holding a controller, well try Guitar Hero. This game is in a class of its own. Pick up a guitar, play the career, unlock songs and simply rock out. Red Octane's follow up to Guitar Hero I, Guitar Hero II, includes brand new features such as a new track list, new/improved venues and new play modes, like before it aims to rock but this time longer and harder than before. To crate this game and make it as successful as it first was Red Octane have ...
