Review of Guitar Hero (PS2) by
ultrafrosty
Advantages: A little guitar!!! Some great tunes to rock to!!!
Disadvantages: So many more GREAT songs out there!!! We want them ALL!!!
...Systems and published by RedOctane, Guitar Hero was released on Playstation 2 in April 2006 across Europe and has proven to be a great success with one sequel already and another on the way… but before I get to far ahead of myself, let’s cover this first installment of the Guitar Hero franchise…
First things first, Guitar Hero is quite a unique game that allows the player to simulate playing some very famous pieces of rock music (some of which ...

the forgery guitarist
Review of Guitar Hero (PS2) by
lovelyben
Advantages: a fun game, good music, play a guitar
Disadvantages: none
...my birthday I thus said guitar hero game and we discussed why this game would be more enjoyable than some of the other games [games for heroes]. My father said that it was the worst idea for a game which he had actually ever heard. However, my opinion of this game was the complete opposite of this. It is a video game which is cheeky with Guitar. How couldn't that be exciting? Thus, I received the game as a present. I was slightly ecstatic to see it. ...

KISS YOUR AIR GUITAR GOODBYE!!
Review of Guitar Hero (PS2) by
kingchris
Advantages: Feels like you're playing a real guitar and makes you feel like a Rock God!
Disadvantages: Makes you look stupid, (kiss your dignity goodbye), looks like a kiddy's toy from Toys R Us
...version of an air guitar: GUITAR HERO!
This game has already being out for nearly a month, and shops are still getting sold out as soon as they are coming in.
The aim of this game is to play songs as well as you can, and get the best score by getting as many right notes as you can. By getting more notes right in a row, the more points you will earn because of a point multiplier in the corner of your screen.
Without the controller, (more ...

Rock out with Guitar Hero!
Review of Guitar Hero (PS2) by
SaxMyster007
Advantages: Great game that makes you feel like you are playing a real guitar!!!
Disadvantages: The quickness of the notes makes you feel a bit dizzy
...as video game producers, as Guitar Hero is pretty much the only game that they have produced. The game is played by either pressing buttons on a Playstation 2 controller as they appear on the screen, or alternatively, by strumming notes on the strum bar whilst pressing the fret buttons in time with the notes as they appear on your screen. Anyway, before I start the review, here are some specs
- 1 or 2 Players
- This game requires a minimum of 204 ...

Are you ready to rock?
Review of Guitar Hero (PS2) by
Stunt101
Advantages: Excellent soundtrack; awesome gameplay; Guitar Controller is responsive and really immerses you into the experience; lots of value; beautiful graphics engine, though you won't be seeing it much.
Disadvantages: Costs a heck of a lot.
...'Sony Computer Entertainment' and 'RedOctane'. Guitar Hero has made quite a name for itself. It has released it's sequel on the PS2 and was recently released on the Xbox 360. Soon, there will probably be a Guitar Hero 3, and Harmonix will be releasing a game called Rock Band, where you not only get to control a guitar, but you can also use drums and a microphone. Think of it as Guitar Hero+Donkey Konga+Singstar Rocks!.
-(The Controls)-

I Love Rock n Roll
Review of Guitar Hero (PS2) by
jonny2483
Advantages: fun, different, appeals to the casual gamer
Disadvantages: short lived novelty value, exspensive for two player mode
...pete townsend impression with this guitar controller like you can with your trusty air guitar.
In theory this sounds like the perfect idea for anybody that dreams of being a rock star but just does not have the time (or ability like myself) to play a real guitar. This product had just such great appeal for me. When I first heard about its development I just thought it sounded like so much FUN that i had to get it.

For a total of £50 ...

Guitar Hero or Zero????
Review of Guitar Hero (PS2) by
ILIKEMONEY
Advantages: Great for guitarists or complete begginers
Disadvantages: No upgrade shop on easy mode
Guitar hero is the first of 2 games in the series by red octane. It is for the PS2 and is rated 12+. It's a 1 or 2 player game and can be played with the guitar controller or a normal PS2 analogue controller. The guitar controller is supplied in most packages for this game and the second in the series. I love this game and when I got it for Christmas I was so happy and couldn't wait to get it fired up and start rocking.
Being some one who doesn't ...

I love rock and roll at the cost of my eyesight!
Review of Guitar Hero (PS2) by
Smeep
Advantages: You have an absolute blast and feel empowerd!
Disadvantages: Unfortunatley, there is so much more that could be done with the game.
...plastic, yet comfortable and ergonomic guitar in to my arms and put the strap over my head. I chose the first song, I love rock and roll.
And that's where it started. The addiction kicks in in the first few seconds. That's the brilliance behind this game. It's so unbelievably simple and yet so challenging in the later stages that I'm still playing this game 2 months on. Just to give you an idea about how good it is, I bought a playstation two ...

Review of Guitar Hero (PS2) by
bisonhead
Advantages: The volume goes upto 11
Disadvantages: The guitars feel quite flimsy
What is Guitar Hero?
************************
Guitar Hero is a great game by Harmonix, the makers of Amplitude and Frequency. In which you take the part of a guitarist, but not just the part you actualy are the guitarist, you have to press the notes and strum in time to score points and open up more songs. Sounds complicated and it is at first, but is such fun and soon becomes second nature.
How does it play?

The Jimi Hendrix Of Music Games
Review of Guitar Hero (PS2) by
MixMastaJ
Advantages: Brilliant Playlist, You feel like a rock star
Disadvantages: A couple of the covers are awful, Can get very difficult
Guitar Hero is a bemani game. There, I said it. Like all bemani games, you watch the screen for little icons to come scrolling along then hit the corresponding button and hope to hear something nice. But GH is different. Sure, the above procedure applies but thats where the similarity ends.
For a start you get a guitar peripheral in the box. Quite solidly made but I've heard rumours about the whammy bar breaking off. You even get a set of stickers ...

A fantastic evolution from GH1
Review of Guitar Hero (PS2) by
oasiskp
Advantages: new modes, characters and most importantly songs from every genre of rock
Disadvantages: no online play (ps2) and limited multiplayer options
...(complete with brain-melting 5 minute guitar solo) and crossing everything from Punk, to Nu Metal, to Grunge, to Rockabilly.
The thing that sets the Guitar Hero brand apart from any recent game is the learning curve. On first picking up the game you will laugh to yourself about how terrible you are, but practice really does make perfect and the difficulty of the songs increase along with your skill and reaction speed.
The new practice mode allows ...

Guitar Hero II
Review of Guitar Hero (PS2) by
saalro
Advantages: One of a kind.
Disadvantages: Not enough songs.
...holding a controller, well try Guitar Hero. This game is in a class of its own. Pick up a guitar, play the career, unlock songs and simply rock out.
Red Octane's follow up to Guitar Hero I, Guitar Hero II, includes brand new features such as a new track list, new/improved venues and new play modes, like before it aims to rock but this time longer and harder than before. To crate this game and make it as successful as it first was Red Octane have ...

Rocking all over the House!
Review of Guitar Hero (PS2) by
stiffy249
Advantages: Loads of Hour Game Play
Disadvantages: Non part from it being hard on xpert level hehe
...the same as the first guitar hero but the reality is that it differs slightly and may not appeal to all.
Whereas the first game had a slow learning curve with the difficulty level building slowly this is far less forgiving and soon becomes more complicated and difficult to play.
If you haven't tried guitar hero then the principle is simple, you get a replica of a guitar with 5 coloured buttons on the neck which replicate the strings and a toggle ...
