My intentional idea of this series, which I started yesterday with ‘Bon Jovi’, was to comprise a list of my favourite bands top ten songs according to me. However, as I had thought may happen, numbers 10-6 are rather hard to elaborate on and basically 5 lines of text doesn’t do them justice. Therefore, I have decided to make it the bare minimum of my top five songs, with slightly more padded explanations in hope of giving them the reception they deserve. Bon Jovi were a band that despite liking avidly, they were never a band that I knew a lot about when compared to Nirvana and Guns ‘n’ Roses ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Frontman In my opinion

Disadvantages Disadvantages Talent spoilt by addiction.

Due to the fact I worte a review on Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, I thought it was only fair to write one about Axl Rose. Well Guns n Roses In General Guns n Roses were an amazing band of late 80's until middle 90's. They were made up of "Slash" Saul Hudson, "Axl Rose" William Bruce Bailey, "Duff McKagen" Michael Andrew McKagan, "Izzy Stradlin"Jeff Isabelle and Steven Adler. They brought out a killer album "appetite for destruction" written by Axl and Slash. Axl was immence at writing lyrics and singing as his voice was unusual and unique. Guns n Roses had something about them something special that ... more

Advantages Advantages Great collection of timeless classics

Disadvantages Disadvantages none (that I know of)

Im more of a Nirvana fan than a Guns n Roses fan but I do know good music when I hear it. This greatest hits collection is filled with absolutely fantastic songs that would get anyone up on their feet. Songs such as 'Sweet Child O' Mine' and 'You Could Be Mine' are rock classics that will be remembered long into the future whilst 'November Rain' is my personal favourite due to the fact that I personally, always feel an epic rush everytime I listen to it. Not being a die hard Guns n Roses fan, I can't really tell you of any faults in song selection because I dont know many others so I can only ... more

Advantages Advantages good old Hard Rock....

    Disadvantages Disadvantages crazy singer

I grew up with GNR. They are the first "heavy metal hard rock band" I've ever listened to (before falling in metal hard rock tharsh...). Right; I can't really tell the line up as the musician changed during the years... They released 5 albums... which are all master pieces. In the 90's GNR were at the top along Metallica. Their music is good hard rock with guitar soli, good riffs, and good lyrics... Axl Rose is the charismatic singer (f@#ked up in his head, though)... They have a lot of hits like: "welcome to the jungle", "paradise city", "patience", "live or let die" (Mc Cartney cover) ... more

Advantages Advantages Great classics and even more!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Some repetative tracks

One of there best albums i think. It holds all the classics with even more songs that you have never even heard of. I bought this album just recently when a freind showed me some of the songs. It was the best purches that i have ever made. I played the whole album through in about an hour and noticed that there were some that i didn't like that were quite repetative but overall this is a great album to buy. It holds the classics Sweet child of mine, Paradise city ect.. and many other songs. It's a cheap thing to buy now, only about 5.99 from your normal retailers like HMV and other music shops ... more

Advantages Advantages Some very good songs

    Disadvantages Disadvantages But not many

I bought this Greatest Hits as a non-Roses fan following the saturation of the music channels with 'November Rain', 'Sweet Child o' Mine' and 'Paradise City', which are obviously all-time classics. And that's about the extent of the 'classic' pedigree of this album. Of the other 11 tracks, all are adequate. However, any listener in my position, not old enough to remember them the first time round and expecting a retelling of the Guns and Roses legend, will be sorely disappointed. This would be acceptable as a bog-standard album, but as a Greatest Hits implies that Guns and Roses have little to ... more
