Advantages: Reasonable cost cartridges available. Good quality Disadvantages: Large. No network adapter.
...it. I wouldn't normally recommend HP since other brands are often cheaper. Often, they are identical models too, Canon have made a lot of printers for HP in the past. This time was different, the HP was the cheapest colour laser I could find where the cartridge prices were also reasonable. Being a laser printer, these do take drums as well as toner cartridges. All laser printers do, but the cartridges for this one come together with the drum. This ... ...£70 each although the way HP is putting prices up at the moment, expect them to be closer to £100 by the end of 2009. Cheaper, compatible cartridges are available and these are what I am using. These are less than £40 if you shop around. They sound expensive, but they last a long time - much longer than any inkjet cartridges. I did compare this to other manufacturers when buying and found this to be the most cost effective. I was looking for a budget ...

...writing a review on the hp 1600 printer.
I use this colour printer regulary in my work, and i have found it to be excellent. Its a business printer so i am not sure what it cost - but looking online i would estimate: £140 from the HP Website
What it looks like: It sits quite upright but with a gently curved front panel and a completely flat top. Coloured in beige, light and slate grey, the printer has a minimal control panel of just four buttons, ... ...the front there is the HP Logo, and the printer name below HP Laserjet 1600 - the paper goes in at the tray in the bottom, and comes out the top.The function buttons are along the top.
The printer holds four cartridges - magenta - cyan - yellow- black
Quality:
the quality is excellent - i am used to a different type of colour printer, at home i use a slow colour printer, and when i see how fast this one is cant be bothered using my one at home. ...

...use), it also comes with HP toolbox software which is mainly concerned with consumables (toner cartridges etc). On that note, it requires 4 different toner cartridges which is pretty standard for this quality of machine which are easily installed a the front of the machine hinges backwards allowing easy access for maintenance. It runs on a USB socket to link t to a computer (you'll find it at the right hand side) and at the back you'll find the power ... ...holds up to A4 size and theres also a single feed slot for envelopes. It has minimal buttons for control, just 4 and a 16 character LCD display, (the display has no backlight and can prove a bit tricky to read for our more senior members of staff).
The printer looks good although is a bit bulky considering it is just a colour laser jet, the print quality is superb although it is a bit slower than its advertised 8ppm and particularly slow from standby ...

Advantages: Prints Fast, Good Quality Disadvantages: Cannot print on 110lb cardstock
I have had my HP Laserjet 1600 for a couple of months now and at first I wasn't to pleased with the colour quality, but after it got broken in it started getting better. I use it quite a bit, sometimes printing 500 sheets a day, so it seems to stand up to the work load that I put it through. One drawback to the HP Laserjet 1600 is if you're printing card stock it cannot print on 110 lb paper. I should have checked into this before purchasing it but ...

Advantages: Great price/quality ratio, good quality pictures, reliable. Disadvantages: no automatic both sides print
This is a very reliable printer which I use in my office. It is relatively cheap and it prints in good quality. It is also reliable, I'm using it for more than year now and it has never let me down, apart from the moment when I tried to use non-original toner (it started to overuse it and the paper looked 'dirty'). Unfortunately the replacement of toner is quite expensive, but hey, it is a standard with laser printers. Its biggest disadvantage is ...
