...warranty, repair went fine through HP until exactly nine months after it was fixed, the EXACT same problem happened AGAIN. Warranty had expired and HP customer service told me "buy a new laptop because it is approximately the same as the cost to replace the system board again!!!!! So I only recommend purchasing this laptop if you want to have the same problem repaired every nine months. I contacted HP over 23 times yet received no assistance, apology ...

This is a very durable and useful laptop. Everyday it travels to an from university with me and has only minimal wear and tear to show for it. I don't know how it weighs in compared to other models, but I have no problems carrying it in a rucksack. The 15" display has proved itself sufficient for everything I've thrown at it - largely games and movies. The laptop occassionally has problems of overheating, where it freezes up for a minute or so, ...
...When performing simple tasks, such a wordproccessing, the battery lasts almost 2 and a half hours. As soon as anything else is started (music, video, extensive web browsing etc) that drops to just over an hour, slightly more if wireless is turned off. ...an 8 Cell battery that HP claim will last upto 4.5 hours. I personally haven't upgraded but it is a possibility to bear in mind if the need arises. The 256MB of RAM in my model is sufficient for my needs, as is the 40GB hard disk. The Celeron M 1.4GHZ CPU is very VERY nippy indeed, beating my Athlon 2500+ Barton.
