I chose HP (Compaq) because it was a respected and recognised brand and always found their repair and warranty sections easy to deal with. Anyway, on with the laptop review. All in all its a good workhorse and despite a few critisisms does a fair job for me. I have now put 8 Compaq laptops with the staff of differing styles and had nothing but good feedback about them. The Nx8220 is made for people who need a little bit more power than everyone else. That is just what it gives, easily handling Photoshop, Flash which are applications which generally demand a lot of processing power. I didn't actually get to pick this laptop myself as it was supplied to me via my insurance company to replace a broken one, however although being a great performing laptop I probably would not have picked it myself. I have been using an HP NX8220 1.86gHz, 1GB Ram, 80GB for the past year now, for personal and business use. It is a very reliable computer, with swift processing (until I loaded Windows Vista). This is a fantastic laptop. DVD/RW is very handy. Built in wireless also is very good for home use. The feature to automatically turn off wireless when an ethernet connection is detected is great for switching between home (wireless) and office (ethernet) without tweaking any settings each time. I have had no problems with this laptop in the 10 months I have had it. I have installed as much software as i require and the performance is excellent. The screen makes images look very sharp and in my opinion is much clearer than a standard laptop screen. Sound is excellent.
