Advantages Advantages reliable, good quality, not fussy about paper types

Disadvantages Disadvantages cartridges can seem expensive - but it only appears so!

Provenance - I got my second-hand HP Deskjet 970cxi - Professional Series - from a now-distant acquaintance of my sister's, many years ago. I think the acquaintance had upgraded and was getting rid of it to make space for something slimmer, sleeker and more in line with the decor of the home-office... never look a gift-horse in the mouth, I say! So this is a review of a printer that has stood the test of time... Dimensions - The printer has a basic footprint that's not much larger than an A4 paper cutter, about 40cm by 20cm, and it sits about 20cm high. The paper tray sticks out in front by ... more

Advantages Advantages Full Win 2000 compliant, fantastic output, auto dual sided printing, everlasting ink cartridges

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

Let me start by saying that I have bought and used many printers in the past ranging from HP Laserjet 3/6L, the original HP Paintjet, Epson Deskjet 500, Epson 700 series and two Lexmark injets. But nothing could prepare me for the truly superb performance of the HP 970CXi. The HP 970CXi is a photo enhanced version of the HP 900 series of colour inkjet printers and runs with Win 95/98/2000/NT/Mac compatibility. It has an option for USB and Parallel port options although I would recommend its use with the former as output is quicker. Currently it is available for £180 inc VAT which is a bargain ... more

Whenever I have purchased a printer it has always been a Hewlett Packard. They are the world's largest producers of printers and the world’s most selling printers. I own a 840C already and have just recently purchased another HP Printer in the 980cxi. This new purchase was not because the 870C was faulty or damaged but rather that I also needed a printer at home and therefore I purchased the 980cxi for the office and have transferred the 840C home. The 980cxi is an inkjet printer. Inkjet printers work by spraying ionized ink onto the paper with magnetized plates, which direct the ink to ... more

Advantages Advantages Good speed, decent B&W performance

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too expensive for home users and not really practical for office work

Ah ha, finally a product on which I can vent my spleen! This could get ugly! The name Hewlett Packard has virtually become synonymous with printers. Just as Sony is known for their quality electronics, Hewlett Packard are known for their (occasional) quality printers. In terms of features, as you will see mentioned below, this printer is not lacking. However, the quality of its output is just not good enough to justify it's cost or to rival those of Epson’s and yet still too expensive to be a high-end home printer. First, I’d like to discuss the specifications and features of this ... more

Advantages Advantages Prints good stuff quickly. Features double sided printing and is made by HP. And it’s not a Loserjet (Murban is probably the only person who will understand that)

Disadvantages Disadvantages HP used to sponsor Spurs (or still do, I don't focus too hard on the kit).

HP and printers, like Jennifer Anniston and that other bloke, inseparable. The HP DeskJet 970Cxi isn't the latest and greatest printer available but for a normal user of a printer, why blow your precious money on somin' like a HP 2500C Business jet or some other ridiculously expensive printer? This printer will do the job, more than adequately. For a start, the printer looks cool (Well I'm sorry, but take a look at the Lexmark printers and you'll see what I mean) and after 5 minutes of installation it was working very well. I could see this because it printed a test page in about 3 seconds ... more

Advantages Advantages Prints on both sides automatically also alings catridges on it's own and is very quiet to operates

Disadvantages Disadvantages Cost of 38ml colour catridge and the speed with which it uses up the ink, even on the lowest setting

I have always stuck with HP when it comes to printers and was glad to move up to the HP 970cxi. I had visions of cutting costs due to the printer being able to print on both sides of a sheet of A4, which is done automatically. First one side is printed then the sheet is drawn back in and the other side is then printed. It has a really good feature when it comes to changing ink catridges, in that the printer with the aid of an optical device aligns the catridges automatically. Remember those frustrating days when you had to decide what line was the straightest, well you do not have to bother ... more

Advantages Advantages Speed, resolution, two sided printing, high capacity

The explosion of growth of a small to a medium sized business in a last few years, has created the need for a faster printing product that is still reasonably priced. HP has responded to such call with introduction of a several of its home/office hybrids that are quite faster than your average home printer and also come with such extra features as double sided unattended printing, fast drying time, high capacity paper tray and ability to handle the variety of paper formats and sizes, yet still priced within the reasonable price for a small to a medium sized business. Advantages Advantages Clear printing, brilliant photo quality

    Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive cartridges

As I was already buying an Hewlet Packard computer I thought it best to go for the same make in printer. I'd previously owned HP printers and found them of a very high standard, this purchase was no exception. I was pleasantly surprised with the 970cxi. The quality of printing, especially the photo printing when used with HPs photo paper, was amazing. No banding or dots and clear colour all round. It was so good that I even used the printer to produce my own wedding invitations, saving hundreds of pounds and looking even better than some of the professional ones. It also meant that I could put ... more

Advantages Advantages quick double sided printing

Disadvantages Disadvantages High cost of consumables

Hewlett Packard have excelled themselves with this printer. It is styled in grey plastic and moulded with a nice rounded look to it. The printer has both USB and parallel port interfaces, although the USB is a bit ropey under Windows 2000 until the latest drivers are downloaded from the HP website. The big selling point of USB is that it allows the user to easily move peripherals between PCs, but how often do you want to move a printer from one PC to another? The big advantage of this printer, and the reason for buying it is the ability to print double sided documents. An included module ... more

Advantages Advantages Two sided printing and the quality

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Ink cartridge prices

I bought my HP Deskjet 970 CXI in March this year. Compared to other printers I have used it is very professional. It has the option to printer both sides of the paper at once. Very clear, fast and sharp printing. Looks very good. Lovely quality when printing photographs. Includes the option of USB which is very handy when you use more than one printer and USB is faster. The only problem I had was when installing the USB driver. I had to telephone them. Their support was excellent and they helped me out very quickly. This printer allows me to cancel print jobs easily unlike the other HP ... more
