QUALITY AT A LOW PRICE

Advantages: economically priced - good print outs
Disadvantages: Cartridges very expensive

Well, my computer is now 6 months old and boy has it been used.....It came complete with a scanner, speakers, several programmes and a Hewlett Packard Deskjet 840c printer which is what I intend to write about today. At £84.25 this has been a fantastic buy. The printer is compact, neat and extremely quiet when running(making more of a gentle hum than the roaring sound usually associated with a lot of printers). It certainly compares well with the ...
...is noisy and unpredictable (also a Hewlett Packard but a more expensive and older version). It comes complete with both colour and ink cartridges and has a one year guarantee. The machine uses two separate cartridges, one for black print and a separate colour cartridge. I find this far better than my work model which takes one cartridge to do all jobs. I therefore only have to refill the black cartridge whilst the colour one lasts far longer. At ...

The control panel allows easy maintenance of the printer including cartridge head cleaning, testing and re-alignment as well as a utility for checking the printer connection or printing a sample page. Changing the varius modes is performed through the software and takes nothing more than the click of a button. Compared to the Stylus 670 the HP640C has an apparent disadvantage in terms of software. The Stylus 670 is bundled with a restricted version of Corel Print House where the DeskJet boasts no ...

Nice, Cheap And Good Quality

Advantages: Cheap to buy, quiet and good quality
Disadvantages: Not a lot

...idea? Yes, that's right, the HP 840C inkjet is a pretty good printer that should keep most users happy. It's not the best on the market, but for the price I doubt it could be beaten on quality and reliability. So why is it so good. Well firstly it from the well established Hewlett Packard, who seem to have become the most popular company for printers. I've never owned anything else, and when I use quality products like this one, I know why. First ...
...a pretty accurate claim by HP from my use of it. The specified 5 pages a minute in colour is a bit optimistic though. I've found that if they've got a little bit of colour on then you can expect about 3 or 4 pages a minute, but if you've got a full colour page, then you'll only get about 1 and half pages a minute. It is pretty quiet though, which is an advantage, though on the shelf unit mine is one it does tend to shake it a bit, just like my older ...

High Quality Home and Office Printing

Advantages: Price, Ouput Quality, Design
Disadvantages: Pricey Ink Cartridges

Hewlett Packard’s 840c is a well priced high quality printer which is well suited for home and office use. The printer itself looks tidy and because of its trademark Hewlett Packard design, doesn’t take up the space required by other brands due to their paper trays. The printer is USB compatible which means you can plug it into your PC when it’s switched on. Installation is a bit of a fuss, when I installed the driver software it installed the French ...
...to be performed manually. The 840c is very well priced from around £60-80 now, however it isn’t a cheap printer to run. Hewlett Packard ink cartridges are notoriously expensive, retailing around the £25 mark on the high street, Epson cartridges are significantly cheaper. Considering the price premium, you’d expect the cartridges to last longer than other brand printers, but they don’t. Although the printer isn’t particularly fast, its no slouch, ...

.A very good HP printer

Advantages: prints up to 8 pages in black and white in a minute
Disadvantages: its a bit big

The HP DeskJet 840c printer has been around for quite a while now but I bought my HP DeskJet 840c about a year ago with my new computer for about eighty-eight pounds and I think it is an excellent printer, which has done my family and me good to this day. We chose this printer mainly for my sister who was studying A-level photography then and needed a good photo quality printer to help her along her course. The HP DeskJet 840c printer has a resolution ...
...and very noisy. The HP DeskJet 840c printer is about the same size as an A 3 piece of paper and is rectangular shaped, its corners are neither sphere shaped nor right angles. I thought the colour ink cartridge did not last very long even though I had not used it that much and the ink had a very strange weird smell to it, but the black ink cartridge lasted for the longest and I also used it a lot more than the colour ink cartridge. Apart from the ...

An excellent home and office printer

Advantages: Quick, reliable
Disadvantages: Cartridges could cost a bit!

The HP Deskjet 840c printer has been around for a while but has recently dropped in price due to newer models being produced. You can now find the printer selling on the high street for under £100 and could possibly find it on sale in some stores. I know someone who recently got one for around £60-70. If you are familiar with the HP deskjet series of printers you will know that the popular 500 and 600 series were commonly used for home printers ...
...could be a better printer for you to think about purchasing. The printer has a resolution of 600x1200dpi which gives a very good, sharp photo quality print. But if you just want to print out those letters in plain ink, it speeds along and produces just as good results. The printer is dual cartridge which basically means if you don’t have any colour in your document it will only use the black but if you have a black and colour document it will ...

Deskjet 840C - Good Quality, 90 Day Warranty

Advantages: Good Quality, Good Price, Fast
Disadvantages: 90 Warranty! Are you kidding!

...I bought the HP Deskjet 840C on a whim after being impressed with the specs listed on the box. The specs are very impressive for the price range: 1200x600 dpi, 8 Pages per minute Mono and upto 5 PPM Colour. The only thing that concerned me was the size of the printer but theres not a lot I can do about that eh?. The printer is very quiet and after doing some inital print tests by printing out some emails and a few bits of clipart I have to say ...
...to the driver and the HP website states that this printer only has a 90 warranty?! The printer can be connected via the parallel port or via USB (Windows 98 or above) but the the box does state (in very small writing) that for best performance it should be used with a parallel connection. There are no cables supplied so if this is your first printer remember to buy an appropriate cable as well. If you are going to get this then shop around ...

Deskjet Decision

Advantages: Cheap, Good Quality
Disadvantages: Without USB it is exteremely slow

TO USB OR NOT TO USB I bought this printer before I had USB and found the printer unbelievablly slow. It took 45 minutes to Print a 3 page email (text only). Then when I installed some USB ports, It ran fine with a colour page in 45 seconds. CARTRIDGES The printer cartridges go in easily and colour and black go in at the same time. A Black cartridge in Australia costs around $AU60. I am yet to see a colour cartridge on sale. Both colour and Black ...
...Black pages or 800 Colour pages according to the box. BUT DOES IT PRINT WELL? I mainly use the printer for printing documents and game covers. Both of these print out really well. The game covers are so real, the only way to tell the difference is to feel the paper ( game covers are printed on shiny paper). The printing is quick using USB and paper jams are rare. SETUP I set up the printer easily in about 5 minutes and installed the software ...

Quick review of HP Deskjet 840c

I trust HP so when I needed a new printer the 840C was a natural choice, being the latest at the time. It has been great!! Never any problems, perfect text and beautiful photos. The cartridges last a long time, giving super results. Would recommend this printer to anyone. So if you want a totally reliable, superb printer for a very reasonable price, which will give you years of service, buy this one. ...

A worthwhile printer

Advantages: Fast and reliable
Disadvantages: Awkward paper loading

<> Well this is my printer of choice, and we have been using ours for seven months without any major problems. It is very easy to use and always has good results. I expect the printer to go on working longer than the computer I have - why is ...

Another excellent printer by HP

Advantages: Excellent alround!
Disadvantages: None whatsoever!!

This is another excellent brilliant by the highly reputable Hewlett Packard. There reputation sets them high standards but as always they have surpassed these standards and all expectations. The main advantages with this model compared to its predecessors are its snazzy new stylish look and it's reduced size. This model is much more compact with the paper tray being further underneath and protected by the main ink cartridge compartment. The quality ...

Although the cartridges are quite expensive to replace they do usually have a very long life and are good value for money. Set-up of the printer is extremely straightforward with clear and easy to understand instructions the whole way through! This is an excellent printer and to those ...

HP Deskjet 842C Recommendation

Advantages: Relatively fast printing, clean pictures, and sharp text
Disadvantages: Sometimes a hassle to troubleshoot without a more thorough manual

My brother purchased an HP Desktop computer recently from Circuit City. He managed to find a great deal on this printer... free. I was a little skeptical at first because of the "free printer" deal, but I've known HP to be a reasonable printer in the last few years. I have two other HP printers at home... a 732C and a 610C, and I've enjoyed all of them for the most part. The 610C has given me some quality problems, but that's not what this opinion ...
...842C and have recommended it to all of my friends for it's ability to conserve ink better than most Canons and Lexmarks. In the long run I think that this printer has been a good deal, and as far as cost, well... print cartridges aren't cheap anymore, as we all know, but saving money on a printer that will conserve ink is worth the extra initial cost. ...

Great value printer UPDATE151200

Advantages: Quiet, cheap, easy to install,
Disadvantages: Contrast on colour photos can be a bit dicey

...I have had with previous HP printers. Using it as a USB printer, I have found it very good that the printer will power itself up if you ask it to print whilst it is off, although you have to remember to turn it off afterwards. Having put pages for a website through in colour, it presented very useable results, which allowed me to present a website that I was working on very clearly. One tip for people, if you print out websites a lot, check that ...
...you implicitly need it too, otherwise the pages will take a lot longer to print out and you'll get through cartridges at an alarming rate. ---Original Review Follows--- This printer retails at around the GBP100 mark, and for the price is excellent value for money. Whilst sticklers might find the contrast on colour photos not top rate, for everyday use, at this price you can complain. The installation is incredibly easy, with step by step instructions ...
