Advantages Advantages Great for office or home

Disadvantages Disadvantages Only prints in black or grey scale.

I'm constantly using the printer at work as I am an administrator for a small team of ten people. We have a Epson colour printer for when we need to produce some leaflets etc, but this one is for all our letters and anything that we need to print a large quantity of. Advantages Advantages Excellent copies, duplex printing available, relatively inexpensive

Disadvantages Disadvantages Cannot be purchased new any longer!

Having written about one of the printers I own (Brother HL-1230), I felt that I should give my review on my workhorse printer. It is an Hewlett Packard HP 4000TN! Whereas, the Brother is for small office and home use, this beast is definitely designed for medium to large office use. It is ethernet capable which allows it to be used by a network of computer users. I have run several HP printers, and have never been disappointed. So, when I purchased this one from a man running his own computer business company, I knew somewhat to expect. Page after page of quality printing being punched out by ... more

Advantages Advantages Reliable, network support, printing in bulk

Disadvantages Disadvantages installation not for the weak

The HP LaserJet 4000n is the 'networked' version of the HP LaserJet 4000, meaning it has an extra card installed to connect to local area networks. Connecting the printer is relatively easy if you already have a home / business network, you just connect it to an unused hub-port. The standard 4000n NIC supports both DHCP and static IP. The HP LaserJet 4000n is an extremely reliable printer, once installed it will work forever and at low operating cost. Installation is not for the weak, as this model is known to cause trouble when trying to connect to your local hub. However, HP has an excellent ... more

Advantages Advantages Quick, reliable and good quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages Old now and only black and white

I have one of these as my printer and work, and have used the same model for many years. The printer does look dated now to be honest, as it is an older design, but it looks functional and has an LCD screen on the top of the printer that shows the menus and error messages. Below the screen is a green button to turn the printer on and offline and a couple of other buttons to navigate the simple to use menu. This is an A4 printer so will only print on A4 paper and envelopes, both from the paper tray and the manual feed. There is an indicator on the outside of the paper tray to show how much ... more

    Advantages Advantages Reliable, Bulk printing

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Non-straightforward installation

First things first: the HP LaserJet 4000 is one of the most reliable laser printers I have ever worked with. It is built solidly with a sizable drawer for paper. The quality of printouts is very good, even on economy paper. It makes minimal noise, is built compactly to save space and prints at a reasonable speed. Installing the printer might lead to difficulties, as the manual is not very descriptive. I have found the HP LaserJet helpdesk an excellent source of support, which they deliver for free in most European countries to LaserJet users. Once the machine is connected, however, you can ... more
