Advantages: A very reliable workgroup printer Disadvantages: It's been discontinued
The HP Laserjet 4050N is of the 4050 series which has been discontinued by HP and replaced by the 4250 series (this particular model has been superseded by the C4253A). We use the 4050N as a network printer at our office and it serves 14 people well on a daily basis. HP used to advertise this range as being "ultra-dependable black-and-white laser printer" which I would pretty much agree with. It's worked well here for years and as the old saying ... ...1200dpi resolution and has a HP JetDirect 10 Base-T Ethernet as standard.
The printer comes with 16Mb of memory which is expandable up to 192Mb. It can print up to 220 levels of grey.
The output tray can comfortably hold up to 250 pages cutting out the need for removing wads of paper when printing large documents and the rear output tray can hold up to 50 sheets. The ability to hold 250 sheets is a real bonus as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't ...

Advantages: Print Quality Disadvantages: Cost of Toner Cartridge
The HP laserjet 4000 printer is an ideal laser printer for a small office workgroup. The printer comes with a variety of options all of which cost extra and include dual paper cartridge, duplex paper handler, postscript cartridge and network option. If you chose everthing, then the cost of the printer start to mount. However, the 1200dpi print quality is very good and the duplex paper handling unit makes printing a professional looking report easy. ... ...printing.
The second paper cartridge is a usual feature for the larger workgroup and means that you are not always refilling the printer with paper each time you want to print. The toner cartridge will give you a reasonable life, but is quite expensive to replace. So if you print thousands of pages a month, you might wish to consider a machine which is cheaper to run although more expensive to buy initially. ...

...values of its forerunners the HP LaserJet 4 series. The addition of a print server in this model increases the functionality of this model considerably as it can hang off a network and print for large numbers of users. We currently have four of these printers in the office and have experienced no difficulties with them at all. The only problems with the printers can occur in the set-up stage when they are connected to the network. This is because ... ...the printers. So remember if you want to set the printer up on the network choose the custom set-up options when installing as other wise the set-up program will decided that the printer is connected to the computer by a network cable. This is just a minor flaw in the instructions rather than a problem with the actual printer. ...
