Advantages Cool design, fairly easy to transport, fast.
Disadvantages Expensive.

This notebook really stood out from many of the others I have owned. It has an incredible design and really looks cool, I am proud to use this in public. I have also found it very easy to transport being about the right size to fit into an average bag and weighing around 7.57 pounds. It runs on windows vista, something I was in two minds about when I bought the notepad. One the one hand, windows vista is a very fast, very efficient operating system. I have to say I am very impressed by the functionality of this HP Pavillion. I have upgraded from a laptop which lasted 4 years and couldn't handle multiple windows running at once! As a buddging graphic designer on a budget, I wanted something that would be able to handle a lot of software running at the same time without slowing down or crashing. The looks are fantastic - very easy to use although I am still getting used to the FN button which now does the opposite as to what I expect (F5 Refresh is now FN+F5). So I purchased this HP DV7 at a BestBuy for $699.99. I will be explaining the the things I liked about this laptop and the things that I didn't really like. Then I will be rating it overall. This laptop imo is really great for the price. I am going to just say it right now, I would recommend it to many people. Advantages FAST FASt FAST, great graphics for gaming and nice sleek look and feel
Disadvantages loud at boot up, CD tray is difficult to eject, can get VERY hot

The HP Pavilion is a behemoth of a laptop. With the titanium cover and 17.3 inch screen the laptop isn't very mobile. What it lacks in mobility it makes up in performance, the speed of the dv7 is lighting quick and could be even faster if upgraded. My dv7 has 6gb ram, i7 processor, 1tb hard drive, fingerprint ID, radeon premium graphics and much more which cost me around a thousand bucks. This laptop can run any game on virtually any setting, the graphics card is great and is customizable. In my opinion the external design is really sleek and has an attractive appearance. While actually using the laptop, I experienced numerous problems. Within the first two weeks my exhaust fan stopped working. When I called for help I was sent out of the country to an outsourced tech. support, possibly in India. Once I fought through the language difference and lack of knowledge pertaining to the English language. Advantages Nice audio, pretty good GPU, good amount of RAM, good price
Disadvantages Processor seems to be outdated, not full HD, overheats

I purchased this laptop as a gaming computer, and I have to say, it runs very well. It can play Crysis on low settings, Half Life at highest settings, Half Life 2 at highest settings, Garry's Mod at medium to high settings. It does what I need it to. Just remember that because it is a laptop, you will not get the same performance as a desktop PC. I would have to say the keyboard is quite comfrtable and I am so used to is that I have trouble using less-comfortable keyboards. The webcam is okay, but it's a webcam, what do you expect? My hp dv7, 1020ea was (and is) one of the most beautiful pieces of tech i have. Whilst the laptop was beautiful the errors started to make themselves obvious. First, dust starting getting into the screen, second parts of the side of the laptop fell off, the battery ran down to have no charge left and the casing started rising up. The back of the screen also slides off and the "quickplay" touch buttons stopped lighting up... The laptops power though, is highly impressive.
