There are many HP Pavillion laptops, this one is specifically for the HP PAVILLION DV6 6051 EA. The spec is, Intel Core i5 processor 6Gb Ram 750Gb Hard drive Radeon HD 6490M graphics card Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Usual stuff also included such as built in webcam, microphone, 15" glossy screen, memory card reader, finger print device, USB3 ports, HDMI out etc. For years I was a Dell fan. All my laptops for the last few years have been Dell and I was happy with them. Recently I was due a new laptop, so again I viewed the Dell line up but this time I wasn't happy, they appeared to be putting ... more

Advantages Advantages I've used other laptops, but this one is a keeper.

Disadvantages Disadvantages The Altec Lansing speakes could be better.

This HP Pavilion dv6000 I bought off a customer because she was upgrading to a HP dv9000. The z key missing and the right hozzle was crack, but it was nothing that a little dab of epoxy wouldn't hurt. I have had HP products in the past, like desktops and printers, this is my first laptop from them. When she offered it to me for a $100.00 I couldn't pass this up. First things that I did was clean her registry and unwanted files and programs. I checked the hard drive for skips and when it came up totally clean, I was a very happy man. The 15.4 glossy widescreen lcd display made everything ... more

Advantages Advantages fast, good quality, attractive, good at playing dvds, games and music, fantastic value for money

Disadvantages Disadvantages awful battery life, does not come with Office

I was given this laptop as my birthday present and i am happy to say i have few complaints ! This laptop has a lovely design, a simple black colour (though it also was available in white) with circles on the top. It isnt too heavy and has a good built in webcam with a microphone which is very useful for talking to my friends and will be good if I go to university and would like to see my friends face to face. It is an entertainment laptop and is very fast and easy to use. It came pre-installed with Windows 7, which i have to say is a fantastic, fast system. Being a naturally clumsy person, I ... more

    Advantages Advantages Stylish, touch controls.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Battery, intense heat, motherboard problems

Well, I received this laptop as a christmas present last year, and It's barely working today. Don't get me wrong, when I first started using it, it was fantastic. Up until the four-five month mark though, it started heading downhill. The first thing I noticed, was how unbearably hot the computer would get, even when on for just a few minutes. It would literally heat my entire room, if there was no circluation. The next major problem was the battery. I couldn't leave the computer unplugged for literally a few minutes, or it would die. I knew this wasn't normal, and looked at the website to see ... more

I have used this laptop for over 3 months now and this laptop has amazing performance and this is why. As you may know there are many versions of hp dv6 such as the one that i have is a HP DV6-3101SA which is excellent for personal use becuase of the many features that it has for example the high definition hd screen which helps you view what ever you want in hd the screen looks even better when you lower the screens brightness the screen looks really crystal clear. The laptop has altec lancing speakers which are high definition as well and what ever you hear you will hear the way it was meant ... more

Advantages Advantages Appealing look, drive space

Disadvantages Disadvantages Battery, speakers, wireless chip

I got this HP Pavillion Laptop as a Christmas present a year ago. At first it seemed too good to be true and them I found out that it actually was. First, my wireless chip broke and would not pick up any wireless signals. This caused me to send the laptop back to the HP company to be fixed [thank goodness i paid an extra $60 for a two year warranty]. When I got my laptop back, I realized that my battery life was unusually short, three minutes to be exact. So, again I called the company, and I sent my laptop back. My computer came in the mail about 2 weeks later and for a short while it was ... more

Advantages Advantages good looks...+speed+ huge hard drive+ great screen

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very low volume.... bad sound card

I bought My hp dv6 in september 2010 I was excited the first time I saw it on display in walmart, nice beautiful dark brown ( very classy look), I said to myself if this laptop functions as good as it looks I am in for a treat, so I fully charged my battery because I did not want a battery that had a short life( if you don't fully charge your laptop battery before the first use you are going to lose the full potential of the battery), then I unplugged the laptop and starting surfing the web, running few tasks at once to test the speed and life of the battery, so I was impressed with the ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks the Part, Crisp Screen, Cool Features

Disadvantages Disadvantages Heavy, Old Base Technology, A Little Expensive

I got this Laptop for my studies over a month ago and I haven’t had any real problems with it yet. I admit the laptop caught my eye, due to the fancy patterns and swish style, not to mention it was on a deal. In many respects I wish I didn’t buy this laptop as it is like: "My previous laptop's Granddad, but with a face lift!". The Processor is not one of the new "all singing, all dancing ones" but makes do. Despite this its very smooth running, even with the alleged bugs with the motherboard - I can do work and play many games without any issues (If they're compatible with Windows 7). A big ... more

In my eyes, the DV6 is proof that laptops are very affordable. The specs are: AMD Turion 64, dual core processor 2 GB DDR2 memory 15.4″ WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800) 256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7200 160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support 1.3 Megapixel Webcam with mic built into screen Altec Lansing speakers built in 3 USB ports, ExpressCard/54 Slot, Video Out, Windows Vista Home Premium these are the specs that the laptop my friend has. Advantages Advantages Processor Speed, Good GPU, Enough RAM for everyday computing and a little oomph.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Overheating Processor, Vista Issues(obvious)

The Hp dv6 is a good laptop. It's AMD Turion X2 is a dual-core processor gives it good speed for everyday use but also gives the computer it's main disadvantage. This processor has a tendency to overheat with use and it gets worse over time. This doesnt just cause disconfort with a burning sensation on your lap, but it can damage the motherboard and let's face it a new motherboard is a new computer. In my experience I had to change my motherboard because my onboard GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) was toasted useless by the heat. On a happier note you can expand the overall durability of your ... more
