...current. I haven't contacted HP about this, but plan to. I cannot find a resolution on their website which is disappointing. For non-intensive (non-gaming) use, the card and screen is great. As it is for most intensive uses, just a bit unstable, but far from the worst I've experienced.
Storage - my model has 2HD, each 80GB, plenty. I use one for the computer, and another with separately-purchased backup software for an auto-backup. Super cool as ... ...I'm in business in about 2 hours, no effort required!
Speed - RAM and Processor are great, no complaints. I can run complex self-designed simulations and programs with ease. Some write-intensive activities take a while, but if I had gone for the faster (i.e. 7200?) speed hard drive it'd probably sort itself. That's my fault, need to write more efficient programs.
Other issues to note - all ports are on the SIDE. Who thought of this? Great if you're ...

...but if you dont use this facility like me its not of great concern. Its also good to keep the system updated with the with the HP updates and the Microsoft Vista updates. This will ensure stability and the most up to date security and drivers. ...

...i upgraded to this HP Dv9000 laptop which have treated me tremendously. as i am a teenager at 16 years of age, i do like to have many stuff on my PC which i have 4000 songs a about 30 odd movies. files do not even get near to effecting the performance and reliability of this laptop. having great performance and onboard graphics which i can play games hassle/jump free. this is a comfortable laptop to have around you. either on messenger and typing, ...

This is the second HP laptop I have owned, and neither have been very reliable. I bought this one as it had a large wide screen as i watch a lot of movies on it when i'm travelling, the number pad was a bonus for when I play certain games, also the graphics card was a major seller as I needed it to be able to handle the games I wanted to play. When I bought mine I was suprised to find that it had a free tv tuner card, a mini remote you could store ... ...it is hard to find HP Motherboards for a reasonable price in the UK. I am not the only person I know who has had the same motherboard failings on a HP laptop, so beware the cost of repair is so high. It is a shame as it is a fantastic laptop, just plagued with problems.
Also the free tv card doesn't work properly, even with an external tv ariel it doesn't pick up any channels, i googled this on the net and apparently everyone has the same problem, ...

I own the dv9700 CTO entertainment model; I don't find it entertaining at all. First of all, I thought it would be fast being 2GB RAM and having a 2.0GHz processor but it isn't. And as you get used to the feel of everything, the screen gets a bit flimsy and I've had some problems with the keys not working. Also the hard ... ...drive. I have a 1 Terabyte (1000GB) Wester Book Digital which I got for £59. Also, being a laptop, it should be portable but it is a bit heavy and overheats very quickly. I've read the instruction manual on overheating and it hasn't helped me at all. I would recommend getting a Dell Inspiron because it has more RAM and a larger hard drive. Advantages: Weight, slimness, software etc. HUGE SCREEN! Disadvantages: little button for wireless thing keeps getting knocked onto off.
I love this product. It looks great and feels it too. It is quite light in weight and is rather thin. i really like the inbuilt webcam and the software that comes with it. The special effects are really impressive when recording or even talking on messenger. The game trials that come with it are really good but they do run out...
It runs really well with windows vista. i really like the backgrounds and user pictures. also the side bit on the desktop ... ...it has the basic microsoft works package and lots more. it has an inbuilt microphone. it has touch sensitive media buttons at the top of the key board. it aslo has 4 usb slots. this is really handy.
i think this is a nice laptop. and i would reccomend it. ...
