finally - an idiot-proof camera!

Advantages: idiot-proof operation
Disadvantages: not best quality pix

...when taking pictures. However, HP has stopped making this camera, so if you come across this camera, I would recommend it as a gift - give someone else this camera. Trust me, they may not appreciate a 3.1MP camera, but they would appreciate how simple it makes digital photography. Long story shortened: beginner-level camera, with just below average picture quality, poor battery life but fairly rugged build - recommended for those now getting into ...

A Tough Old Camera!

Advantages: Simple to use
Disadvantages: Short battery life.

I brought this camera for my wife just over 2 years ago, and although we have purchased a couple of other digital cameras since then, my wife still prefers the 435 to anything else we have. One of the main reasons is the ease of taking pictures, you don't have to have a degree in computer science to use it as the manual is straight foreward and very easy to follow, if thats not enough the cameras onboard memory has HELP sections under all the categories ...
...if you get stuck whilst out and about you don't have to worry about going back home for the manual so you can adjust the settings you just use the HELP menus so that you alter the right thing, wether it's the ISO speed, the LIGHTING setting (tungsten, sun, flourescent or shade), the EXPOSURE VALUE, Image Quality or even the colour of the pictures (black and white/colour). The camera's size is quite good, at 11.7cm by 3.9cm by 5.7cm, which is neither ...

Smart camera from HP (complete re-write)

Advantages: Small and versatile - excellent quality
Disadvantages: None really

...guy after all) and fortunately HP seems to have taken this into account. The box contained the camera, a set of batteries, a USB connector lead, a carry strap, a manual, a CD and an easy start up guide for people like me. The camera looks exactly as it does on the picture above – silver about 4” x 2” x 1” and is silver. I have no idea if HP intends to make it in other colours so I hope silver is your thing… The front of the camera has the flash, ...
...power connector (can take the HP C8912 AC power adapter from the mains) and a handy one for connecting it directly to a TV for when you really want to show off. The base of the camera has the docking port (it will dock with the HP 8886 Camera Dock) and a screw mount for standard tripod fittings. Under the wrist strap mount is the battery bay door and it’s in here you can fit memory cards as well. The camera has a 16mb built-in memory already but ...

Good first Digicam...

Advantages: Value for money, user friendly, plenty of features
Disadvantages: Batteries are used up quickly

Well done mum, the first one she's ever bought (for me as a Christmas present) and she got it right. This did surprise me a little as she is not all that technologically aware. This just shows, I think how foolproof this camera is as she also has one herself and never ceases to amaze me with the pictures she has taken with it and also managed to upload AND e-mail to me! She got this quality "Product of China" from PC World (she doesn't know anywhere ...
...but I'm thinking around £99. I've found the camera to be incredibly simple to use from the very first time I switched it on. There are menus to pick which features I want to use and just one button to press when I want to take a picture. I can make motion clip at the touch of a button also but haven't ventured as far as attempting to add sound, although the manual, which is also very easy to understand, tells me it's well within the realms of possibility. ...

Great for everyday!

Advantages: Easy, tough, good value
Disadvantages: Not great at night shots, No optical zoom, basic features.

Another digital camera? That's what my wife said when I ordered the HP435 (amazon.com). We already had one (an Olympus), unfortunately not too sturdy - and had to go to the repair shop twice in the first year we had it (we did tend to put it to rough use ;)). So rather than spend a further £80 for someone to look over the camera - decided to get one for everyday, slightly rougher use. Hence this - cost about £79 on amazon.com - not bad at all! Very ...
...put in the batteries, and go! There's only one big button to press to take photos - very convenient when you ask others to take photos for you. There's a timer button and a motion clip button - which seem really easy to use as well, but haven't had the need to. The zoom (x5) is only digital => photos at 5x seem a bit grainy. But 2-3x comes out perfectly fine (3.1 mega pixels helps!). There are 3 different resolutions, so you can get >150photos on ...

HP Camera

Advantages: Quality of pics, Easy use, size
Disadvantages: sometimes a bit slow, freezes sometimes

OK so my cousin won this from work, and we've borrowed it a few times now, to use in parties, going on holiday and all sorts. When my sister went to Italy, Rome, she used the camera and I thought it had excellent quality. On the camera the pictures may look a bit blurred but when you transfer them to your computer they are very good quality for 3.1 megapixels. The size is quite reasonable, it isnt very heavy, can probably fit into a small handbag ...
...but, when you get onto the menu, it can be quite confusing on where to go because of all the different buttons there are :S and the screen freezes sometimes, not sure if this happens for everyone but it has for me a few times, but that is a minor problem and has not caused any big problems. Battery life...Well I cant say it was good, it was pretty rubbish on the camera I used with a new battery unfortuneately. There is also a video feature, but it ...

Good, user friendly model

Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: fairly large

As a complete beginner with digital photographer, I found that I could very quickly get going with this camera. It's basic functions are incredibly easy to use and the clear instructions make the additional functions fairly straight forward as well. The camera has taken consistently good photos(and i've taken a lot of photos with it!!) and the batteries last well if not using live view mode all the time. I have experienced no problems with it in ...
...The photo editing software which came with the camera was also easy to operate and allows you to rotate photos, crop or resize them, adjust the brightness and contrast etc and remove redeye. Overall, I am very pleased with this product and would definitely recommend it to others looking for a user-friendly digital camera. ...

Good and bad points

Advantages: Ease of use, viewing area
Disadvantages: battery life.

On the whole, this is a very neat little camera with enough options and ideas to keep you interested, it is a good starter camera. The software which comes with it is also easy to use. On the down side, the battery life is terrible. In the first week of using it ( a christening and a birthday), I got through 8 Durracell batteries. Not good enough. Am now trying expensive rechargables. They seem to be better but have 6 spare batteries with me all ...
...the camera as all the family can use it easily and get good results. The best feature for me is the quick shutter. Briliant for taking running / action shots such as sports day. Also it works very well in dark surroundings with the built in flash although this does cane the batteries. ...

Don't waste your money and your time

Advantages: It's size
Disadvantages: Everything

I'm a graphic designer and I've got an eye for clarity and this camera does give that. Everytime I took a photo I was never positive as I never knew what image I was going to get. Once I took a photo of a dog and when I saw it the grass wasn't even green it was purple, the clarity of the picture is crap, you could see all the pixels. Close up photos sometimes come out nice but with other photos there was always a shining clare in the pictures. ...
...But hey I don't believe in these reviews cause I was looking for another camera and some said the pictures are great and others said it was poor and the review for the HP435 has just proved to show that either people don't know what they are tallking about or just lying. The choice is yours ...
