Advantages: 64MB RAM, Beautifully Clear Screen, Fast Disadvantages: No Compact Flash slot. Lack of Networking options
...years ago, I reviewed an HP Jornada 525 Pocket PC on Ciao, under a different account. After a brief but enjoyable foray into the Windows Smartphone market, I decided to come back to the Pocket PC, and see what it has to offer. The Ipaq 1930 is Hewlett Packard's entry level Pocket PC. Despite it being bottom of the pile as far as price goes, the specification is far from low, and the size and portability is by far the best I have seen on he market. ... ...Pocket PCs, in that it packs a Samsung S3C2410 Processor as its Central Processing Unit, as opposed to the more usual Intel XScale. The Samsung processor is 100% Xscale compatible, just like an AMD processor is 100% compatible with Intel ones, so there is no need to worry about software not working. The S3C2410 in the Ipaq 1930 is clocked at 200mhz, and although this looks on the surface to be a lot slower than the current crop of Xscale processors ...

Advantages: A rather nifty little toy Disadvantages: Underpowered
I've owned one of these for the best part of six months now, so I'll try to describe it from the experience I've had with it.
The avowed purpose of getting it was to use as an organiser. Anyone with two braincells could tell this was overkill. A £30 Palm III does this.
The actual uses this has been put to are:
Emulation (GBA, SNES, NES)
Gaming - Rayman, Age of Empires
Organisation - well, it actually works!
The organisation requires a little ... ...can be used for homework assignments, notes, birthdays etc. As far as calender programs go, it takes some beating. Pocket versions of excel and word are available, as well as cheaper freeware text editors. Useful for taking notes, but using this for heavy data entry would be a no-no.
Input is achieve with a stylus. The screen is as sensitive as could be desired. There is support for graffiti or an onscreen keyboard. Size and weight wise, it's about ...

Advantages: Slim and excellent screen spec Disadvantages: Battery doesn't last that long...
I got this to help me keep all my diary appointments to hand - so I could sync with all my business appointments, and add my personal ones to - to avoid clashes!
The only time I have double-booked myself since is when I lost my IPAQ for a few days!!!
Other colleagues of mine have Blackberries, which introduce the "push" technology so that you can receive emails on the fly. Disadvantages of Blackberries are the same... you can never be without email! ... ...With the IPAQ you need to sync to receive your emails - much more user-friendly and kind to your time management (and your social life....)
Was quite pleased the other day when a Blackberry friend insisted I order him an IPAQ like mine as well, because the Blackberry doesn't deal with appointments effectively. Great!!! So I have the best of both worlds.
Add in tasks day or night, so you don't forget anything (much better than a note-book that you ...

...through. I once owned a HP Jornada but it was a serial connection which rendered it a bit slow synchronising with laptop etc.
By comparison the iPAQ is a flyer using USB. My main use is a pocket PC, using Word, Excel and outlook calender, contact functions. All I may add function very well.
A word of caution, if you are using Excel, certain formatting can get lost, i.e. merged cells. It comes with Pocket Windows 2003 installed along with Word, ... ...Solitaire and Jawbreaker.
Also installed is Windows Media player v9, which is very good for playing your music. The core memory is 64 megabytes, which is very good, nice fast access time.
I bought a 128 megabyte SD memory card to expand my storage capabilty. One example of use, is I can put 2 CD's worth of MP3's on it and use it as a portable MP3 player. There is a wealth of stuff to download off the WWW for these devices. (A lot free as well). ...

...near as fast as the hp 4150 which has a 400 mhz processor. However, usually i use it for keeping my schedule so i don't really notice any big problems
the memory is a bit low for anything but keeping a schedule, however, a SD card could be connected to store music and mini movies. For those who don't have wireless at work, this is the perfect PDA for you.

Advantages: Good for Music and Video on the go Disadvantages: Lacks other features
I got this for christmas a few years ago, I wanted it as a toy aswell as something to keep all of my work etc organised and to be honest it does all of those things.
If you are using this unit purely as an organiser its brilliant, if you don't have time to read your emails, you can sync it with outlook and read them in the car (wouldn't advise driving at the same time though) or lookup phone numbers and adresses. Its fine for all of those.
When ... ...the features are there, it will play most movie files with the software you get with it and if you want to play others there are loads of programs for this PDA. However, movies and music take up loads of room which is where 64mb isn't all that useful.
As time got on, i wanted to go on the internet and recive my email directly to my iPaq, this is where it lacks features. This model does not have any form of Wi-Fi unlike some other models nor does ...

I brought this PDA a while a go. The thing that made me buy it was its size. The picture on this site just doesnt show it, i think it currently the smallest and lightest Pocket pc pda there is at the mo. The screen is nice and bright, and seems largerthen most others due to the small size of the pda its self. The software that comes with it is ok, normal poket word and one game that is fun. Its a shame that this PDA doesnt come with a cace to put ...
