iPAQ a punch!!

Advantages: Clear screen, ease of use, size
Disadvantages: Fiddly for goalkeepers and people wearing boxing gloves

...decided to buy myself the HP 1940 iPAQ Palmtop. I've now owned it for about three months and although it's about £240 more expensive than a diary, it's money well spent. I could now write huge lists of specifications to do with it but instead I'll describe my day and how I use this little computer. I wake up at around 7 and turn on my Desktop PC and go on-line. I then attach my iPAQ to it using the Microsoft Activesync software that comes with the ...
...can now plug the two computers together through my PC's USB socket and they synchronise with one another. The best thing about this is a faciltity called AvantGo. This downloads news pages from sources such as Reuters, BBC, Guardian, Times etc onto your iPAQ so that you can view them at your leisure and it even removes old news pages. So with my iPAQ full of the days news, I walk to the station and board my train. I am a huge fan of The Darkness ...

An excellent Pocket PC at a bargain price!

Advantages: Power - Value - Screen
Disadvantages: Backup battery - Lack of WiFi

First of all, for anyone looking to buy one of these, it's worth noting that this little gem is EXACTLY the same as the iPAQ H1945. The only difference between the H1940 and the H1945 is one was originally sold in the USA and the other destined for the European market. Okay, now that we've resolved an issue that caused me great confusion, let's get down to business. This is a cracking little Pocket PC that should not be overlooked. It's a bargain ...
...2 years ago for £40! It's particularly sleek by comparison to lots of more expensive PDA's, slim and light too. The screen is great too with bright, vibrant colours. I've used this as a GPS unit mostly with the help of TomTom and a Bluetooth GPS receiver. It has no problems using TomTom Navigator 6 and with the help of a 2GB SD card has helped me navigate flawlessly through Europe. The processor is more than capable for running said TomTom and other ...

Small but powerful PDA.

Advantages: Crisp and clear display, bluetooth
Disadvantages: no cradle.

The HP iPAQ h1940 is a very powerful Pocket PC; the h1940 is smaller than other iPAQ models which makes it more portable than ever. The official dimensions are 2.75 in x 4.46 in x 0.5 in (113.3 mm x 69.8 mm x 12.8 mm), weight 4.38 oz (124 g) (including battery). The infrared port is located on the left side along with the built-in microphone. The bottom side hosts a system connector, and the right-hand side a slider which releases the battery cover. ...
...screen. The HP iPAQ h1940 has a very nice TFT display with led backlight, provides high brightness and resolution. The backlight intensity can be adjusted in five steps; this model does not have an automatic backlight adjustment. The Screen applet makes it possible to switch system support for Clear Type, which I found to be very convenient because I do not need to tweak the system’s registry anymore. The display is readable very well in all possible ...

Disadvantages: doesn't come with any extras like cradle or case.

...(266 MHz) using X-scale technology HP quality and worldwide support." fair enough "Clear and dazzling transflective colour display" Very impressive, "89 mm, display type :Transflective type TFT colour with LED backlight" "Removable battery provides capability for extended use while away from a power source" Might be useful on the go, battery life is told to be 8 hours, didn't use it up yet. "Listen to your favorite MP3 or WMA music files; Watch Windows Media videos and play games at your convenience" well, that needs a lot of space on your memory but you can use it as MP3 player with a SD card. If you are thinking between 1910 and this one, I'd say go for this one, I did. I has ...

Small and a different aproach!

Advantages: Small and stylish
Disadvantages: Annoying noise! (Can be altered)

...have not had to contact HP with any problems regarding this PDA. Firstly I shall talk about the memory capacity. It has a memory of 64MB not very much if you want to store music. It can only hold about 15 songs. To me this is too little so I have purchased a larger SD card which slots into the top of the iPAQ. It has windows media player allowing you to play many different formats of music including, WMA, MP3 and AAC. Although many would not choose ...
...think of all the other benefits you get from it. Next I talk about the SD slot at the top of the device. This can be use for many things. I have also purchased a camera which attaches to the top and I can use it as a web cam to use on "Pocket MSN". SD cards are widely accepted in most modern technology and nearly every device can read a SD card. Using this device is no chore thanks to a quick little processor. Opening up applications and games ...

Well worth the money.

Advantages: Very compact and well specified.
Disadvantages: Battery life could be better.

I got my Ipaq 1940 about a week ago, as a replacement for my Psion 5mx which died recently, and so I had been doing a considerable amount of research into a prospective replacement unit. It cot £250 UK, and although I got it direct from a dealer, they are available at this price in Dixons (PC world has them at £299 shelf price/£259 web price). I considered Palm, and I know a lot of people love them, but I just didn't like the operating system, and ...
...me, so the lower quarter of the screen (dedicated to graffiti input' would be wasted on me. I had gone from a PDA with a permanently fitted keyboard to one that had a keyboard 'on demand' at the bottom of the screen, and the tiny 'keys' aren't too hard to get first time with the delicate stylus provided. I'm still in the early stages of getting used to this PDA, so these comments may be added to later, but first impreddions are important with such ...

Another piece of quality from HP!

Advantages: Good prosessor, Windows OS, good battery life
Disadvantages: has no hard cover

I bought this PDA less than 4 months ago and since then i have never had one single problem with it, I payed aound £220 and now its a lot cheaper, especially on evays going for around £130. Its deffinatly been worth it! The gratest thing about this is that it has a windows OS (operating system), whereas with Cliés you do not have this. With Clié's and plam's you have the Palm OS. this not being very good. Althought Clié's are the iPOD's of PDA's ...
...the windows OS. For example with windows you can use Word, Excel, windows media player, paint, internet explorer and more!!! And yet with Clié's you can only view these files but not edit them, e.g view an excel file but not edit it. Connecting to the internet is incredibly easy if you have a infrared capible mobile or a computer. Simple connect your computer/mobile to the PDA and then it says would you like to use it as a modem. EASY! In reviews ...

The greatest PDA for under £200

Advantages: has windows os
Disadvantages: has no hard cover

I bought this PDA a couple of months ago and have never been happier with it, it great. It does all the boring stuff that you expect with a PDA (memos, to do list ect.) however its operating system is truly amazing. Its windows based and therefore comes with pocket versions of excel, word and applications like windows media player, MSN messenger + loads of other useful thing not forgetting internet explorer. the interent can be connected throgh your ...
...global postioning you can buy for it is amazing, directs you to any road in the world. Its got good memory 64MB and a sd card slot for more memory. You can do pretty much anything you can on a laptop on this baby. I thought of buying a Clié but then i relised that they cannot edit documents like word, excel ect and hasnt got nearly as many great feature because the os is palm. This PDA is great for everything and has a fast prosessor 266mhz. i was ...

If you want a pda for this price then ...

Advantages: It's an ipaq
Disadvantages: Not so packed with stuff

...us get one thing straight HP is the king of high-end PDA's but at mid-end ones their not so good. I have a friend with one and I recently borrowed it to go on a two week vacation. To start with everything seems great - it looks great - but I'm not going to go on about it's looks you can look at the picture yourself lazy barstard. Not everything is as good as it seems; the internet accsess is sparodic at the best of times, the battery is not great, ...
...great. One of the best fetures about this is the internet - but I could hardly ever connect to my email. The vidoe-playing feture is good - unless the battery is getting low in which case the screen is dull and you cannot see what is going on. Also you will have to fork out alot in order to have enough SD memory to have any movies. The music is crap compared to your bog-standard mp3 player. If you were going to buy it to play music then don't. ...
