Advantages Advantages Clear screen, ease of use, size

Disadvantages Disadvantages Fiddly for goalkeepers and people wearing boxing gloves

Never one to properly maintain a diary, and with an increasingly busy life, I decided to buy myself the HP 1940 iPAQ Palmtop. I've now owned it for about three months and although it's about £240 more expensive than a diary, it's money well spent. I could now write huge lists of specifications to do with it but instead I'll describe my day and how I use this little computer. I wake up at around 7 and turn on my Desktop PC and go on-line. I then attach my iPAQ to it using the Microsoft Activesync software that comes with the HP1940. After a straightforward installation when I bought it, I can ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Backup battery - Lack of WiFi

First of all, for anyone looking to buy one of these, it's worth noting that this little gem is EXACTLY the same as the iPAQ H1945. The only difference between the H1940 and the H1945 is one was originally sold in the USA and the other destined for the European market. Okay, now that we've resolved an issue that caused me great confusion, let's get down to business. This is a cracking little Pocket PC that should not be overlooked. It's a bargain price for a start; I picked up mine on eBay 2 years ago for £40! It's particularly sleek by comparison to lots of more expensive PDA's, slim and ... more

Advantages Advantages Crisp and clear display, bluetooth

    Disadvantages Disadvantages no cradle.

The HP iPAQ h1940 is a very powerful Pocket PC; the h1940 is smaller than other iPAQ models which makes it more portable than ever. The official dimensions are 2.75 in x 4.46 in x 0.5 in (113.3 mm x 69.8 mm x 12.8 mm), weight 4.38 oz (124 g) (including battery). The infrared port is located on the left side along with the built-in microphone. The bottom side hosts a system connector, and the right-hand side a slider which releases the battery cover. The top of the PDA has a stylus shaft, miniature stereo headphones jack and an SD slot with a dummy card. The SDIO slot is used to add an array of ... more

Advantages Advantages Slim and small, great colours and big screen

Disadvantages Disadvantages doesn't come with any extras like cradle or case.

I bought this Ipaq 1940 a week ago and I am terribly pleased with it. If you have lots to keep up and use MS Outlook a great deal normally, this is an ideal little gadget for you. It's not as big as 5000 series, so I think more feminine but you don't get the security features like finger print recognition and encryption. I am not going to say simple because it's not, it's integrated with bluetooth which means you can connect wireless with other bluetooth devices. My partner has an Ericson T68I (which has bluetooth) and we exchanged all the contacts sitting on the sofa in couple of minutes. I ... more

    Advantages Advantages Small and stylish

Disadvantages Disadvantages Annoying noise! (Can be altered)

The iPAQ 1940 is a very handy little device. I personally use it to organise my day and to listen to music. I purchased this about three months ago and have not had any service problems. I have not had to contact HP with any problems regarding this PDA. Firstly I shall talk about the memory capacity. It has a memory of 64MB not very much if you want to store music. It can only hold about 15 songs. To me this is too little so I have purchased a larger SD card which slots into the top of the iPAQ. It has windows media player allowing you to play many different formats of music including, WMA ... more

Advantages Advantages Very compact and well specified.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Battery life could be better.

I got my Ipaq 1940 about a week ago, as a replacement for my Psion 5mx which died recently, and so I had been doing a considerable amount of research into a prospective replacement unit. It cot £250 UK, and although I got it direct from a dealer, they are available at this price in Dixons (PC world has them at £299 shelf price/£259 web price). I considered Palm, and I know a lot of people love them, but I just didn't like the operating system, and the 'graffiti' method of inputting text just doesn't work for me, so the lower quarter of the screen (dedicated to graffiti input' would be wasted ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages has no hard cover

I bought this PDA less than 4 months ago and since then i have never had one single problem with it, I payed aound £220 and now its a lot cheaper, especially on evays going for around £130. Its deffinatly been worth it! The gratest thing about this is that it has a windows OS (operating system), whereas with Cliés you do not have this. With Clié's and plam's you have the Palm OS. this not being very good. Althought Clié's are the iPOD's of PDA's (got style!!!!) they cannot actulally do as mush with out the windows OS. For example with windows you can use Word, Excel, windows media player ... more

I bought this PDA a couple of months ago and have never been happier with it, it great. It does all the boring stuff that you expect with a PDA (memos, to do list ect.) however its operating system is truly amazing. Its windows based and therefore comes with pocket versions of excel, word and applications like windows media player, MSN messenger + loads of other useful thing not forgetting internet explorer. the interent can be connected throgh your mobile (by infrared) or thorugh your conputer. The global postioning you can buy for it is amazing, directs you to any road in the world. Its got ... more

    Advantages Advantages It's an ipaq

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not so packed with stuff

Let us get one thing straight HP is the king of high-end PDA's but at mid-end ones their not so good. I have a friend with one and I recently borrowed it to go on a two week vacation. To start with everything seems great - it looks great - but I'm not going to go on about it's looks you can look at the picture yourself lazy barstard. Not everything is as good as it seems; the internet accsess is sparodic at the best of times, the battery is not great, no memory is bundled and the battery life is not great. One of the best fetures about this is the internet - but I could hardly ever connect to ... more
