“HP keep PAQing it in!”

published 25/07/2005

Looks great. Large memory. Fast processor.

No car charger adaptor

I bought my first PDA a few years ago, and was quite impressed. As things moved on though, I wanted more and more from it, GPS navigation being the main thing. As I added more and more bits onto the old system, like a bluetooth jacket, and more memory, it got more and more clunky ... hence the...

HX4700 The HP iPAQ HX4700 is a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant). In other words, it's a handheld computer. One would be able to use it as an organiser, word processor, MP3 player, gaming device, etc. Basically, most of the things a current PC or laptop would be capable of. The American version is...

I hope you find this review useful, it is based on extensive experience of several iPAQ 4700s bought for business use in the last 2 years, and a wide range of other PocketPCs. I have concentrated on the particular factors that make the iPAQ 4700 different to other PDAs - all PDAs are similar in a...

Hi, Working in the job I do, I've had a fair amount of handheld PC's, from the very first Ipaq's, new ipaq's, Palm T3's Palm T5's. Palms so old I've no idea what they are. After using the palms i swore I'd never use another ipaq again. They were big, clunky, and the major problem was that the...

Looks and size

I have been a fan of the Ipaq since the days of the old Compaq 3600 (way back in the summer of 99!). Since then I have had the Ipaq 5500 (the finger print reader) and now onto my third the new HX4700 (the one with the track pad!). Being familiar with the Ipaq's of old, the first thing I noticed...

I have had several Palm based PDA's over the last 10+ years, and this is now my 3rd iPaq. I am not going to list all the technical data for this PDA as it is readily available on the HP website and other places that sell them online. This is intended as a 'what's is it really like to live with'...

It is pricey, and written instructions were sparse

Having owned a Psion and a Palm, I had given up on PDA's because their screens seemed too small and hard to read. Reviews on this Ipaq seemed to promise more ease of use. It is a crucial issue, and hands-on is the only way to be sure. I tried the machine in PCWorld and again in Dixons. Neither...

“Want to be organised???”

Excellent range of integrated functions

Expensive

Having bought one of these about 2 months ago I was amazed. This could be partly because I havent had a PDA in a long while, and maybe I was a bit out of date with my PDA, but no! This little machine is extremely useful whether you are a businessman or a university student. It offers Wi-Fi which...

I have been a long-time user of PDA's, and can't live without one. But I'm not like a lot of tech junkies who switch from one device to the next as soon as something new comes out. I make tech purchases as long-term investments, and thats why I went for the hx4700. Like the other reviewers have...

One of the latest pdas available in the market. It has intel based 624mhz processor fastest available these days for hanhelds. 128mb of flash ram and 64 mb of sdram makes it fast to do all the fuctions that a pda suppose to do. This handheld is bluetooth enabled so that you can transfer data...

Screen and loads of features

I seriously cannot think of any!

The first think I noted was the slimmer version of the unit, then I turned it on and was blown away. The screen was so crisp and sharp, the colours so vivid in comparison to my 5450. My GPS refused to work with it which disappointed me (Navman 4000) but that was all that was wrong with it...
