...more chatty amongst us, the HP iPAQ also comes with MSN Messanger.
At 70 x 13.4 x 114 mm and weighing only 120 grams, its thin and light enough to slip into the inside of a suit pocket quite comfortably. It features IrDA so if you have PC or Laptop which features IR, which a lot of laptops do, then transferring files suddenly becomes a lot easier.

Featuring Windows Mobile 2003 SE, the menus and functions aren't that different from a standard PC, meaning getting use to the HP iPAQ is no problem at all. However, if you do manage to come across a problem, the 'Getting started guide' will provide the essential information needed to overcome the problem. Advantages: Functional PDA with benefits of GPS Disadvantages: Low memory
I purchased the HP rz1710 because I wanted to have the functionality of PDA and the benefits of a GPS system.
The product comes in two parts basically you get the rz1710 PDA and a stand alone GPS receiver that you can either stick to the window of your car or the dashboard. An adhesive plate is provided if you wish to mount the unit on your dashboard.
The GPS software provided is Via Michelin. The software has been put on an SD card that self installs ... ...By simply inserting the PDA into the GPS receiver the software recognises the hardware and loads the GPS software ready for navigating. From a standstill I found the GPS receiver locked onto a signal in under a minute, while moving the acquisition was slightly longer. The GPS software is quite good; the interface was very easy to use while driving, the big icons on the screen enable you to control the GPS without having to loose too much focus while ...

Advantages: Smart, Cheap and ideal to run simple application Disadvantages: Poor technical specification
...utility for editing images called HP Image Zone. It also has a SDIO/MMC slot that could hold up to 1GB of external storage cards.
Technically it is not the fastest and most advanced handheld available in the market.
Below is some of it tech. spec.
Processor: 203MHz, RAM: 32Mb (out of which 15MB available SDRAM, 10MB flash), Dimensions: 114 x 70 x 13mm, Wire connectivity: 22 pin serial cable, provided with USB and charger cable, it has a 3.5-inch ... ...pix.
As you can see, main drawback with this handset is its processor speed and the RAM. With such low specification, it is quite inadequate for high applications to run comfortable on it. Another drawback is it does not come with any wireless connectivity. It has got doable MP3 player but what drags its down is its very short battery life and they estimate it to be about roughly 3hours 30 mins once fully charged and to add to the misery the battery ...

...price, and it is from HP with an IPAQ badge so what the heck.
When I switch it on, I found a high quality display, with pocket pc 2003 installed, which is fully compatible with my desktop. I have called up Hp who were equally as useless telling me when it freezes to just reset it. I have also found that it claims to take you on the shortest route but have managed to find short cuts myself. Doesn't pick up alot of roads.
The bottom line is it is a total waste of money, do not buy. It is so useless i i think now that i will be better off with an A-Z. ...

...of use, as with all HP PDA's it was so easy to use. Navigating the menus was very easy as was the changing of settings. Using the touch screen on this PDA seemed easier than other PDA's that I have used, this made the note making very easy to use.
One of my favourite features was the fact you could write in your own handwriting and then the PDA will automatically change it to text.
The main disadvantage is that the Battery Info is quite poor, sometimes ...

I bought the ' nHP Ipaq RZ1710 Navigator ' because I wanted the functionality of a PDA and the gadgetry of a GPS, so I thought this would fit the bill, and it does, especially if you are on a budget! The mapping I got with it is from ' Michelin ' , and annoyingly it seems to note places I have never heard of, but ...

I bought one of these recently from ebay to replace my old Palm IIIc. I was very impressed. It was very easy to link up with my computer and transer all data across. It doubles up as an MP3 player, though only really good if you get an additional memory card. However, they are cheap to come by.
