Advantages Advantages Cheap, small, productive and capabilities

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lacks intergrated bluetooth and wi-fi

This award-winning PDA or Palm top computer has a solid combination of productivity and small form factor. Hosting a SDIO slot, it is capable supporting SD/MMC standard type memory cards meaning you can use the memory card to hold up to 2GB of data, more then enough for hundreds of documents. You will always be on top of scheldule with the handy and well designed 'to-do' list and ensuring that the device is not just for work purposes, the device quite cleverly stores and plays music, videos and photos. For the more chatty amongst us, the HP iPAQ also comes with MSN Messanger. At 70 x 13.4 x ... more

Advantages Advantages Functional PDA with benefits of GPS

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Low memory

I purchased the HP rz1710 because I wanted to have the functionality of PDA and the benefits of a GPS system. The product comes in two parts basically you get the rz1710 PDA and a stand alone GPS receiver that you can either stick to the window of your car or the dashboard. An adhesive plate is provided if you wish to mount the unit on your dashboard. The GPS software provided is Via Michelin. The software has been put on an SD card that self installs when you put it in the slot on your PDA. By simply inserting the PDA into the GPS receiver the software recognises the hardware and loads the ... more

Advantages Advantages Smart, Cheap and ideal to run simple application

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor technical specification

It is a slim, elegant PDA, which is quite rigid for a firm grip around the sides. Its strongest plus point is its price and its thin and light design. Even because of its low spec., what makes RZ1710 stand firmly among the others is its simplicity. What has it got? It has latest OS with standard applications like Word, Excel, Messenger, and IE on it. These simple applications works perfectly on it and the basic applications (media playing and IM's) run happily on it with fine speed. It has WMP, two games "Solitaire and Jawbreaker" and it has a utility for editing images called HP Image Zone ... more

Advantages Advantages Small in size and cost

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No Bluetooth

When I bought this for just over £110, I was a little nervous that maybe it was something that was not up to the job, not the functions I was looking for , a glorified calculater . It's got infrared, but no bluetooth. But I suppose at that price, and it is from HP with an IPAQ badge so what the heck. When I switch it on, I found a high quality display, with pocket pc 2003 installed, which is fully compatible with my desktop. Once I had sync'd with outlook, downloaded all my business and personal contacts, my calender and a couple of family photos the 32Mb was getting rarther full, so I went ... more

    Advantages Advantages None

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Everything

Brought this navigator (very overpriced) from my catalouge (£500) From the day i got it, it has given me nothing but grief. For my important journeys (Scotland-Birmingham and Birmingham-London) it has failed to work, keeps freezing and keeps telling me 'unknown error' then shutting down. It takes a while to start working (when it decides to work). I have called up Hp who were equally as useless telling me when it freezes to just reset it. I have also found that it claims to take you on the shortest route but have managed to find short cuts myself. Doesn't pick up alot of roads. The bottom line ... more

    Advantages Advantages Stylish & Slim

Disadvantages Disadvantages No Bluetooth and Battery Info

When I first bought this PDA I was a bit unhappy with the fact that it didn't have Bluetooth, but this was my fault because I thought it just came as standard. However after a while I decided to keep it. The main reasons was the ease of use, as with all HP PDA's it was so easy to use. Navigating the menus was very easy as was the changing of settings. Using the touch screen on this PDA seemed easier than other PDA's that I have used, this made the note making very easy to use. One of my favourite features was the fact you could write in your own handwriting and then the PDA will automatically ... more

    Advantages Advantages looks good

    Disadvantages Disadvantages doesnt contain larne

I bought the ' nHP Ipaq RZ1710 Navigator ' because I wanted the functionality of a PDA and the gadgetry of a GPS, so I thought this would fit the bill, and it does, especially if you are on a budget! If money were no object I would shell out a bit more on a dedicated Tom Tom system and a half decent laptop , but were not all rich !! The mapping I got with it is from ' Michelin ' , and annoyingly it seems to note places I have never heard of, but fails to mention my home town Larne, and with over 55000 places in it, you would think it would be worth a mention ! ... more

    Advantages Advantages Nice and compact

Disadvantages Disadvantages tend to have to softboot more frequnetly that I would like

I have found this device to be very reliable, I've been using it for 18 months and it hasn't let me down. It is easy to sinchronise with my PC and compatible with most poctet software. The memory card slot means you can trnasport data from both your desktop to your HP computer and offer flexibility in how you work. The screen although a good size means that you may start squinting if looking at it for any length of time. If I needed to buy another palm computer I would buy this one again but perhaps one that would work on a wifi network. I am planning to take my HP and Tomtom to america next ... more
