...what. Step forward my HP iPaq 2210 PDA (that's Personal Digital Assistant, if you didn't know). The HP iPaq 2210 is a little outdated (by way of it's replacement - the hx2000 series) at the time of writing, but that doesn't mean that you can't pick a bargain up if you manage to track one down. Mine was a gift, but a search on eBay flagged a few up around the £130-£150 mark (correct as of 01-07-05).

A sleek brushed aluminium case, with ... ...spring-clips for the stylus, but HP have discontinued this (to the annoyance of earlier Compaq PDA users, I found). I have no problems with the storage as it is - it's neat and tucked out of the way.
~ Setup / First Use:
This was incredibly simple. The unit came preloaded with Windows Pocket PC 2003, and to get up and running I merely had to plug the cradle in (my HP2210 came with a docking cradle and cable which connected to my PC via the USB ...

Within a few weeks of me getting my PDA, a lot of my friends thought how good it was and some of them decided to get one as well. I remember when HP'S IPAQ series was introduced, back in April 2000. I thought, Why buy one now? If I wait a few years they'll release superior models, packed with dozens more features. Although technolagy does and allways will improve every day, now is the time to make an investment. After a day with my H2210, I realised... why would anyone want to buy an mp3 player, or a portable dvd player when you can buy one of these. I loaded an episode of the Simpsons onto a compact flash disk, and played it with my H2210. It was very smooth, and the video & audio quality was outstanding. I got my shiny new ipaq for a bit of work and a bit of play. since setting up with my gprs mobile and a bluetooth dongle on my pc i can do the following:
Work on documents and spreadsheets.
Send and receive email using my mobile
Browse the web and play media content into my hifi using the local bluetooth network.
Keep track of my expenses for different clients.
Keep track of all my appointments and make sure i never get double booked again.

Connect to my main PC via terminal services.
All this took a bit of setting up! I think the only limitation of this PDA is that it does not have integral wi-fi lan support. A suitable adapter can be purchased for around £40 although the wi-fi equipped ipaq 4150 can be bought for a similar increase.

...I decided to purchase the HP iPAQ 2210 (with more than a little help from Ciao) and I am delighted with my choice. The first thing that is immediately noticeable when opening the box is that everything you need is right there - the unit, the desktop USB cradle, the charger (with an adapter to allow it to be used independently of the cradle) and even a protective carry case. On the topic of battery life very few people will have problems. When watching contsant movies the battery life is roughly 4 - 4.5 hours. I`ve owned my HP 2210 for over a year now and I must say I`m very impressed by this little gagdet. It feels well built and has an excellent screen. The unit has two memory card slots, one will take SD cards and the other will take Compact flash type 1 and type 2 cards, so you should be able to find a card to fit it pretty easily!!, I would suggest just going for the cheapest at the time, and that seems to be CF at the moment.
