A Smarter Way of Banking
Review of HSBC by Lexus2001

Advantages: So many good services, has something for everyone
Disadvantages: as with every bank, they have there problems with transactions

As a member of HSBC (formally Midland), I feel that I have enough knowledge of the bank to tell people how good there bank accounts are. ******Value for money****** A fifty pound buffer zone – Although it is not all right to go overdrawn, HSBC allow members to go fifty pounds in the red, and no charge will be incurred. No monthly fees on agreed overdrafts – You can agree an overdraft with them and only pay interest. Free ... Read review

A good customer service based bank
Review of HSBC by adele1476

Advantages: lots of ways to use the bank (online, phone) , customer service (phone) excellent, don't push you into things
Disadvantages: sometimes branches are not as accesable as others, occasional waits on the phone

...decided to go back to HSBC was the £50 buffer zone that this bank offered to all customers, meaning that if I ever did accidently go overdrawn I would not be peanlised (though I must admit it is a lot harder to go overdrawn illegally than it was with Barcleys (they seem to delight in it)) and as such that was one of the better banks for me. Of course now being a student they positivly rejoice in me going overdrawn (which I am) and I suppose after ... Read review

Off To HSBC We Go.
Review of HSBC by Penfold49

Advantages: Fully accessible by all!
Disadvantages: No real ethical policies of note.

...little background, I've banked with HSBC for 3+ years, I've also worked for HSBC as a temporary contractor on numerous occasions. Area's of Banking: BRANCHES HSBC now have two branch types. The traditional counter style and the new breed automated-use-anytime style. So those cash/cheque deposits no longer have to be don't during those pesky work hours. Plus the added security of not being on the street whilst withdrawing you hard earned cash ... Read review

Outraged is the word
Review of HSBC by GR-Design

Advantages: erm, customer services?
Disadvantages: Way they use you for your money

HSBC, so called the listening bank, what a load of rubbish! I have been with HSBC, formally known as Midland for over 7 years now, have been satisfied with them but never really used any of their services, all I did was put my money in and took it out when I wanted some cash, never used it for anything else. Now I have and I have gone from being satisfied to disgusted with them. The thin is, for 7 years, I have not asked them for one single thing. ... Read review

Horrible Stupid Blundering Crap
Review of HSBC by andrewj100

Advantages: I found a branch in Brazil
Disadvantages: Zero customer services

...have had an account with HSBC for over 6 years now. I originally started with their student account and was ever so happy with it, no charges, no mistakes, I just couldn’t fault them. While I was at college I bought a house and started a separate bank account to pay bills, pay my lodgers rent into (that’s how I could afford the place) etc. This account was set up in mine and my mother’s name as I was largely dependent on them ... EXCELLENT SERVICE
Review of HSBC by 6littlemead

Advantages: value no-nonsense products and services
Disadvantages: None

I've had an account with HSBC since 1983 when I left university. I have all my financial products with them, because they offer value for money, good advice, no nonsense service. Their staff are always courteous, indeed go out of their way to get to know me and find out what I really want and need. I never feel like I am being "sold" something. HSBC also still have that old-fashioned bank manager in the branch, the one you can get to see, to talk ... Read review

Advantages: read op
Disadvantages: read op

...basic and most popular product HSBC has to offer. So what does a current account offer to you? Cheque Book- This allows you to purchase things in shops or in the mail by writing a cheque to pay for the goods rather than carrying cash. This makes it a lot safer and more convenient for you because you don’t have to think about visiting the cash point before you go shopping. One thing you will need though before you use your chequebook to purchase ... Read review

Review of HSBC by asclepius

Advantages: Excellent customer service skills; Large range of services; Branches widely available...
Disadvantages: None to speak of...

...not as a statistic; the HSBC has not only managed to accommodate all of my financial needs, but it has excelled in doing so. Therefore, I wish to offer this review as an account of my experiences so far with the HSBC – highlighting mainly the services that I have personally used over the last few years. AVAILABILITY: Living in the City Centre, I certainly had my pick of almost any bank you could imagine – however, I did notice that the HSBC ... Read review

One finger to the tax man
Review of HSBC by LouZ

Advantages: Good rates, Easy access, good internet site, household name
Disadvantages: Encourages me to save so puts me off shopping!

...consumer advice: www.fsa.gov.uk/consumer/ I banked with HSBC so they were my obvious first point of call, but I was aware of the need to shop around. I checked out the comparisons in the financial pages of the Sunday papers and it seemed that HSBC's rates were actually pretty favourable. The current rates are as folows: Up to £3,000 = 3.35% annual int / 3.30% monthly int £3,000+ = 3.70% annual int / 3.64% monthly int £9,000+ = 4.00% annual ... Read review

The NOT SO FRIENDLY Bank
Review of HSBC by brianlfc

Advantages: None.
Disadvantages: This charge is totally out of order.

...the actual bill has the HSBC logo on and this is where I am supposed to pay the bill, I have done this for 18 months without any charges being added, and rightly so. That was until yesterday! Anyway, yesterday I was going about my usual paying of my credit card bill and entered the HSBC bank in Prescot (just down the road from me), I waited in the queue for around 15 minutes and finally got to the counter, yeah you know the score, about 20 ... HSBC - The world's local and greediest bank
Review of HSBC by Funzo

Advantages: occasional market leading and innovative products
Disadvantages: Absoluetly no customer satisfaction whatsoever

...HSBC. Now I can speak about HSBC as a customer of 5 years and as an ex-employee. I worked as an Financial Planning Manager 2 years in the Hertfordshire area and left about 3 years ago. I and thousands of others left HSBC was for the very reasons that are being aired on this and other review sites. HSBC no longer cares about customer satisfaction. It might not a be a startling revelation to some or even most but having seen, witnessed and experienced ... Read review

Review of HSBC by jo1l

Advantages: I did have over 15 years of hassle free banking
Disadvantages: see text

...asked me my thought's on HSBC bank about three months ago I'd have probably said not a bad bank I've had know problems with them. Unfortunately if you were to ask my thoughts about them now I'd tell you to avoid them like the plague! Having been a customer with them for over 15 years, I would like to add that my problems only started two months ago. Up until then I had had a very good relationship with them ie they paid my standing orders out, ... Read review

Advantages: overall a good student account service
Disadvantages: Janice, nonsensical telephone system

...had my current account with HSBC for nearly 6 years now, and up to recently I've been quite satisfied with it. They offer you an interest free overdraft, a Switch card that can be used abroad and the customer service has been okay. Last week I went into HSBC to pay some bags of coins into my account, it only added up to £10 but it got rid of a lot of loose change hanging around the house. I got a mini statement this week and noticed that the money ... Read review

Take control of your life
Review of HSBC by angel6985

Advantages: TOO MANY!!! SEE FULL DESCRIPTION
Disadvantages: Helps you become so independant that the gap between you and your parents might increase

...17) I have been banking with HSBC as a young account holder and since my very first livecash account I know that I am stuck of HSBC. You just can't fault it in any way! It helps manage your account, and it gives you such appealing interests (Livecash [under 16]: AER 4.00%, Gross 3.93%; 16&17 account: AER 3.25%, Gross 3.20%). You don't get much better interests for current accounts do you? They give you greatest control over your own money and ... Read review

Review of HSBC by BJEEE

Advantages: Reliable, good student deal
Disadvantages: none

I've been with HSBC ever since I was 16, when someone fom the local branch made a visit to my school. They were giving away a load of freebies, so even if I didn't use the account much, I'd get a good deal. I did actually end up using it quite a lot. They gave me my first cheque book and also a proper SOLO credit (but not a credit) card, for use in cash machines and some shops. Solo cards are now much more popular. At the time there were not really ... Read review
