Advantages: Good quality, not expensive & gorgeous clothes! Disadvantages: The sizes can be rather odd and the shops are too crowded
I'm not one for designer clothes - I like to be different and I can't afford it! I haven't got the time to be spending looking for clothes in quirky little shops and charity shops though and as much as I love Camden, I always end up spending too much money and not having bought much! So, what does a girl do?! Well, if you're like me to go to H&M.
H&M stands for Hennes and Mauritz or generally known as just Hennes and can be found all over. Long ... ...Oxford Street - now there are at least five between Oxford Circus and Marble Arch! They're also found elsewhere all over the country just to keep people like me feeling at home when visiting friends and family and to make sure you never miss out on a shopping oppertunity!
One of the great things about Hennes is it's range of clothes: it has an impressive range of styles, sizes and items. When I say items, yes I do mean trousers and t-shirts, skirts ...

Advantages: Incredible Clothes Disadvantages: Big Queues
Whatever I'm looking for, for whatever occasion and on whatever budget, I know that I can always find it in H+M. I visit the store nearest to me, which is in Leeds. There are four floors(Yes, four!) of fashion for men, women and children. I generally shop in the women's departments as I am a girl, but there are sub-departments in the store. First of all, my favourite-Accessories. This range caters for every style and taste, all extremely reasonably ... ...hair such as rosettes and corsages, to basics such as hair elastics and alice bands. They now also do a range of wigs and fum hairpieces, such as clip-on ponytails and coloured hairstreaks. Their jewellry range is extensive, from plastic bangles to gold-effect earrings and fabulous silver chokers. Also available is a huge range of bags, hats, scarves and gloves from high fashion sophistication to utility and skater-style knittes scarves and gloves.

Advantages: Good selection of clothes at good prices Disadvantages: Queues
...and other London branches of H & M it is better to go in at a quiet time. I would recommend Sunday as a very good time to shop here, as there are rarely queues then.
The most important consideration is the price. The clothes here are up to the minute and cost very little. A pair of trousers and a T-shirt can cost as little as £10 each and sometimes even less. The quality is good too, although I would suggest taking a quick look at seams and finishing ... ...proper treatment is rare. H and M do have a code of conduct about the suppliers they use, and their treatment of their workers. It is published on their website.
Information is also available on where H & M stores are, and the ranges that are on offer in the individual stores. Not all stores carry the complete ranges that H & M produce so it is a good idea to check the website, or telephone your local shop for information on their stock.

...too! I discovered H & M purely by accident a few weekends ago. I was in the mood to give my credit card a severe battering so I was out at Fort Kinnaird on the outskirts of Edinburgh looking for an Etam store as I always find something I like in there.(Those of you who know me will realise that I am no Kate Moss, it is hard to find shirts that will go over my boobs!)

Upon walking into the store, I saw it was much like any other GAP wannabe store, all shiny floors and strange looking assistants! Put me off a bit, until that is, I saw the size of the shop. Absolutely huge! Half the store is womanswear and the other half is divided between menswear and childrenswear. (great fun scaring my husband by cooing over the baby clothes) The atmosphere ...

Advantages: prices, ease of return, quality of clothes. Disadvantages: Not in all towns
As it was my day off today and also my friend's day off we decided to meet up in town and do our shopping and have a coffee.
Living in Coventry, we have just had a small new undercover arcade of shops built and one that has already opened is H&M. Now I don't normally buy myself that many clothes, but am slowly treating myself to some new ones after having 6 years off work to look after my son. First impressions of the shop were favorable. Big shop, good lighting, quite natural and airy. The gents and the children's section was downstairs and the ladies (as per usual) was upstairs.
We headed upstairs first and had a browse. We were both instantly taken aback by the choice, an inparticular, the cost of the clothes. They are so reasonable. The clothes were either up to the minute fashions, ...

Advantages: top trends, less mainstream than Topshop, good value Disadvantages: long queues
I have issues with those people who seem to think one can only be a true fashion-concious up-to-the-minute funky stylish lady if you shop in obscure, expensive, designer shops or actually make your own clothes. Well move over Chloe Sevigny, you may have a louis Vuitton 1980's revival bum-bag(once naff, now the epitome of trendiness, but only for the next few days, then it will once more be passe)and money to burn, but I, my friends, have H&M.And ... ...the Leeds branch) is constantly heaving, with endless queues for both changing rooms and tills, and slightly messy displays, all this can be overlooked due to the cheapness, quality and straight off the catwalk looks that are availiable instore.
The "divided" range for teens and young people is exceptional, fun and funky, with trendy T-shirts avaliable for as little as £3, and very few items over £25. For the more mature woman Hennes and Mauritz ...

Advantages: Good quality, trendy clothing Disadvantages: Undersizing in clothing
I have just returned from yet another amazingly successful shopping trip to H&M, and so I thought I would do some research and write an opinion. H&M (or Hennes & Mauritz) was originally opened as Hennes (hers) - a woman's store in Sweden. The aim of cheap, quality high fashion clothing was so successful that the store grew and become the male and female clothing store H&M in 1968. H&M provides clothing and accessories for men, women, teenagers, children ... ...Beautiful), Conwell, among others and they also provide accessories, underwear and make-up. As each store is different some have limited stock and may not provide make-up or children's wear. The variety of fashionable clothing is incredible! There is smart wear (appropriate for the office), smart-casual wear and the very casual. All are trendy and up-to-the-minute fashion. I love that they put the seperates that compliment each other most on the ...

Advantages: affordable and fashionable Disadvantages: Dodgy fitting room lights
I discovered H&M while on a shopping trip in London a couple of years ago and because I live in Wales I never managed to go there again. But then they put one in Exeter where I am in university-I was so excited I went there on the opening day, along with the rest of the student population it seems.
H&M is one of the cheapest clothing shops around for women, men and children. I cannot comment on the latter because I have never bought any of those ... ...fashionable. The younger range contains a range called divided which does many of the basics-jeans, vests, cardis and trousers as well as the key fashion items for the season. I have to say the quality may not be the best around but why pay £20 for a vest in Oasis or Warehouse and seemingly pay extra for a 'hidden support' and a slightly nicer material when you can get the same in H&M for three or four quid?
The women's range contains the Big is ...

I came accross H + M in Leeds when they decided to refurbish it all. I'd never really ventured in before as I considered it mainly suitable for the older generation, people who had office jobs etc.
Once it had been refurbished it offerend disabled and pram access, obviously a good point. There's an instore lift aswell as esculators and the staff are always ready to help!
This meant it came as a suprise to me when I stepped through its doors after ... ...for everyone
I found H and M to offer great quality and great value, at only £3.99 for a t-shirt from the teenage section, I was amazed. The t-shirts are of really high quality and they've almost always got new ones in!
The mens section is also quite good (I only know this because of my brother!!), they sell trousers and shirts that are suitable for working and going out with your friends. It's a really great smart/casual range. The childrens section ...

Advantages: Cheap, chic, funky, you name it, you can have it Disadvantages: Everyone's wearing your clothes
Well, I'd like to pretend that I'm too cool and "rock" to obsess about clothes and make up and that girly stuff, but I AM a girl (honest!) and so, ineveitably, I like to look my best, just like most other girlies.
And so, where can I get versatile clothing from? This is an important question for me. I dont like to have to trawl through hundreds of different shops, and I like to think my fashion style is quite ecletic. One day, its Military chic, ... ...Add into this that I need a smart office wardrobe as well, and that's a tall order for any clothes store, especially as I love a bargain, and never like to pay more, if I think I can get it for less.

( you get the picture) and all very reasonably priced. I find here you can find those original items that you just don't get anywear else. There are plenty of original pieces to be found whatever your style.
Hennes also offers a wide selection of accessories from belts and bags to jewellery and hair decorations. The items here are comparable in price to claires accessories but in quality to somewhere like accessorize. ...

Advantages: cheap, good quality clothing with trendy stuff for the boys too! Disadvantages: very jumbled and untidy, long queues
When I was 12 I was taken to a place in London called Hennes to buy me a dress. I got to look around for about thirty seconds flat and that was it. This was an amazing event. I had been reading Just17 for soooooo long and all the fashion pages had stuff from hennes on them and I was soooooooo upset that they didn't have Hennes in Scotland. When I finally moved to Glasgow in 1998 I heard that they were building a new shopping centre and that they ... ...the connection between the two??? They are the same thing. Advantages: Great ranges, great clothes, great prices Disadvantages: You'll need a lot of time to shop properly
H+M – High-priced and meagre? Horrible and mean? Heavenly and marvellous? Ok…just about run out of ideas for that one! What it actually stands for is Hennes and Mauritz – the name of a high street fashion store with a bit of a difference. Their philosophy is “to provide fashion and quality at the best price” which they certainly do.

I would like to say I looked like Kate Moss, but I don't. Put simply I never wlll, but I feel this is something the fashion industy has been punishing me for, for years. Is H&M the answer to my prayers?
