3 Stars The Ice Cream Cometh Review with images 26/08/2004

Advantages Advantages Good quality. Real strawberries - does this count towards my "5 a day"?

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive. High in fat and calories.

Häagen-Dazs. I always thought this meant something deep and meaningful in one or other of the Scandinavian languages, something professing the wonders of an ancient Nordic ice cream tradition. Today, whilst doing a little background reading for this review, I have found out that this belief is completely and utterly wrong. Häagen-Dazs is American. Häagen-Dazs is a nonsense word, meaning nothing at all, made up by some marketer who thought it sounded good. Häagen-Dazs was born in 1961, making it slightly older than Ben and Jerry’s, but hardly ancient or traditional. In fact, it has only been ... more

5 Stars Ice Cream Heaven Review with images 16/03/2007

Advantages Advantages Creamy ice cream, real strawberry pieces, biscuit pieces

Disadvantages Disadvantages The price, the calories and fat content!!

I first came across Haagen-Dazs Strawberry Cheesecake Flavour Ice Cream when one of my friends bought it round when we were having a DVD night and to be honest, nearly every time I settle down for the evening to watch a DVD, this ice cream comes out. About Haagen-Dazs Haagen-Dazs is unsurprisingly an American Brand and wasn't actually available to buy in the UK until 1987. Haagen-Dazs actually only started out with three flavours: vanilla, chocolate and coffee. With these flavours being so popular the brand quickly developed, with them producing a wider variety of flavours for the consumer to ... more

Advantages Advantages Delicious flavour, rich, creamy and more-ish!

Disadvantages Disadvantages It's not raspberry and it's expensive!

When I go to the cinema, I just HAVE to have ice cream. Ben and Jerry’s is my favourite, but Haagen Dazs comes a close second, which is just as well because two out of three of the cinemas I regularly visit have Haagen Dazs cafes! One of my favourite flavours is Strawberry Cheesecake. This is surprising really because I have never been a huge fan of strawberries themselves (not in the way that some people enthuse over them!), let alone strawberry flavour things, which I normally find too sweet, scented and sickly and have a taste all of their own which is nothing like strawberries! Haagen Dazs ... more

Advantages Advantages Taste, prestige, no washing up.

Disadvantages Disadvantages What am i eating?? Price.

As I write this op, with my tub of Haagen-Dazs Strawberry cheesecake perched on the table, my cat is peering up at my treat eager to get the leftovers (what a horrible word). I am half way through some really strenuous “revision”, and my mum will do anything to keep me happy, and more to the point, keep me working. Yesterday I seized advantage of her vulnerability, and asked for a tub of Haagen-Dazs, to keep my energy levels up you see. It was a bit of a far fetched plan, as usually she refuses to spoil me, but much to my surprise she obliged. My instructions were to buy either Pralines and ... more

Advantages Advantages A nice creamy mix of Strawberry, Pecan Cookie and ice cream

Disadvantages Disadvantages Becomes very sickly after too much

I’m finding it pretty hard to write music ops at the moment, just haven’t got the time to do them, but I am managing to work my way through old half started ops that just need little bits adding to them to finish them off. This of course in one such op on Strawberry Cheesecake flavoured Haagen Dazs. Now to be perfectly honest I am not usually one to buy expensive ice cream like your Carte D’or, Haagen Dazs or Ben & Jerry’s. I prefer your common Tesco type of ice cream, but recently after buying a pizza from Pap Johns I got a tub of ice cream free with it and as they only do Haagen Dazs I ... more

Advantages Advantages Different from the usual

    Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive

I have been reading all the opinions on different Haagen Dazs ice creams so I thought I would add one of my favourites. The strawberry cheesecake variety of this brand is as rich and luxurious as its counterparts but just that little bit different from the usual chocolate or toffee type offerings. This variety features cheesecake flavoured ice cream with ripples of strawberry puree running through it and little bits of the cruched biscuit base you get on the bottom of a normal cheesecake. The ice cream is creamy but not to sweet as it has the tang of a really good cheesecake and this is ... more

Advantages Advantages Heavenly combination, decadent but worth the price

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive but well worth it

NOBODY DAZS STRAWBERRY ICE LIKE HAAGEN DAZS Taste This my absolute favourite ice cream combination of all time and the only flavour that had me salivating like a mad dog upturning all the inferior varieties in Morrison’s freezer compartment last night! The ice cream itself is of that heavenly white consistency that assails the taste buds in the most glorious way possible. When this is augmented with a swirl of delectable strawberry sauce and a crunch of shortcake then the opposing flavours and brands may as well throw in the white towel . Of course not everyone welcomes the interruption of ... more

Advantages Advantages Smooth.. VERY SMOOTH, Rich, Thick, Doesn't melt easily, Dense

Disadvantages Disadvantages Only worth getting if on offer, Very fattening, Dwarfed by Italian Ice cream

If you find Ben and Jerry's sickly, and lacking in natural flavours, Haagen Dazs Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream is a pretty good alternative. Like Ben and Jerry's, Haagen Dazs comes in a titchy tub, is smooth, creamy and rich, upmarket and comes from America. You'll never believe how densely packed it is. There's more than enough for 3 people in a tub, and it's perfectly adequate for 4 people. It's a good choice of dessert at dinner parties, while B&J is perhaps just a little bit more for the fat-kid-at-the-cinema. The tub I'm reviewing is a 500ml/430g one, currently on offer at Somerfield ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Needed more,too expensive.

Well with strawberries being my favourite fruit, this ice cream was always going to be a sure fire hit with me. I was first introduced to the HAAGEN-DAZS STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE ICE CREAM by a friend,Thanks Von,whilst at my local cinema. She very highly recommended it to me,so I simply couldn't say no. I know Haagen-Dazs is well known for being expensive but I was flabbergasted at the £2.50 price for a tiny tub of ice cream. I'm not an extravagant person but the price tag quickly melted away with the first spoonful of this gorgeous mixture of strawberry and cheesecake,Oh My Goodness,I must surely ... more

Oh my good lord I have died and gone to heaven and heaven, my lovely friends, is a tub of Haagen Dazs Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream. No need for any more foolish Life After Death studies, this it it. This is the answer to the age old question of is there really a heaven. Yes there bloomin' well is and you can buy it from your local supermarket for no more than a paper five pound note, and what's more, you'll get change! So what does it taste like? Well I'll tell you. It's bloomin lovely! The rich smooth vanilla ice cream is punctuated with small pieces of cheesecake biscuit (the base part) ... more
