No Chintz Here Its all been Chucked Away

AdvantagesContemporary Style

DisadvantagesService not the Best

"...use the same designers now. What Habitat Sell Each Habitat is like a furniture showroom, showing some of the items they stock depending on the size the store. They normal range of display will be sofas, chairs, tables, free standing kitchen units, sideboards, shelving units, beds, wardrobes, bedside units and bathroom units. They also have a range of brightly coloured rugs hung up in the store somewhere and a lighting range. It is fair to say ..." Read review

*An insiders review of Habitat!*

AdvantagesI can help you save money!

DisadvantagesYou may hae to wait for an offer to come around....

"...some of you may know Habitat is owned by Ikano-the same company that owns Ikea. It was established in 1964 in London, and has now become an international brand with stores all over the UK and Europe, and now has franchised branches in places such as Dubai, Thailand and Turkey to name a few. It focuses on beautiful and stylish products, and on the whole, in my opinion succeeds in this. The main objection most people will have is the price. Habitat ..." Read review

Habitually bad, HabiTAT

Advantagescity centre equivalent of IKEA but classier and more durable

DisadvantagesComplaints system is dreadful, customer service is poor

"...a home-improvement addict. I love Habitat as a rule. It is everything right about the world in what it sells, it is the staff and sales system that fail it. Habitat is the ultimate in snobby interior stuff! It sells everything from candles to glasses to cushions to tables and chairs. There seems to be a Habitat in almost every city and although not cheap it sells VERY nice products. Everything is very trendy and colourful. I have been shopping ..." Read review

Habita

AdvantagesFunky & stylish

DisadvantagesCan be expensive

"Habitat is really one of a kind - a national chain store selling contemporary home furnishings. I say national, but the stores can be few & far between, & you may have to travel a little way to find one. We used to have a branch in my hometown of Hull many years ago, but by the time I reached adulthood & was in the market for some modern home funishings, the store had gone. It's becoming increasingly evident that no-one wants anything decent in my ..." Read review

Modern and stylish - better quality than others

Advantagesgood design; modern and stylish

Disadvantagesnot enough stores, a bit too expensive for everyone

"Habitat stores offer a wide range of modern household items - nothing about their design is cluttered or fussy. There are both modern classics and things which are more daring. It's also a good place to get gifts for people - they even offer food items such as pasta and olive oil in presentation bottles. Their items are well priced (in the mid range) and they have plenty of options for smaller houses. Somewhere like Heals, for instance, has furniture ..." Read review

Very angry and disappointed by bad staff service

Advantagesits a nice sofa if i ever get it!

Disadvantagesstaff are rude, unhelpful, including the managers! Delivery times are very inconsistent

"...have spent over £1000 in habitat but i am now very reluctant to shop there ever again. You can get some beautiful things from there and great furniture but the hassle you have to go through and the way you are treat is totally not worth it. I orded a sofa, i was told it would be delivered in approx 4 weeks in store however it did say 6 weeks on my recepit. It has now nearly been 9 weeks and i havent heard a thing. Terms and conditions say that i should ..." Read review

Habitat - 5 months and counting to get my goods

AdvantagesNice and often unusual homewares

DisadvantagesPoor stock control, delivery and customer service

"As a rule I like Habitat products. They are generally well designed and different from the usual furniture and homewares available from other high street shops. However their stock management, delivery and customer service is very poor. I have been trying to buy one of their rugs since October and it is constantly out of stock. I finally got a delivery date only for this to be cancelled at the last minute, again due to lack of stock. I still don't ..." Read review

Eat my contemporary

Advantagessome good styling in some products

Disadvantagesexpensive, attitude

"...going in to my local Habitat store is not unlike having teeth pulled. I should firstly own up: shopping is hardly my favourite passtime, but my real niggles with this store are the prices, attitude of the staff and the products (so pretty much everything!) The store Habitat have been around since the sixties and have a chain of stores in larger towns and cities in the UK. They display their modernist wares in room settings, a little like Ikea ..." Not a good habit..at

Advantagesgimmicky

Disadvantagesoverpriced

"Most of you, I am sure, would have heard of Habitat. The store which was opened in the late 60's by Terence Conran to bring a new breed of shopping to the high street for contemporary items for your home and furnishings. Different and innovative it probably was during those early years, but now I think it is a bit shabby and overpriced. I visited one near Slough and found that the ideas were similar to other outlets such as B 7 Q etc. The ..." Read review

Terrible - Terrible - Customer Service

AdvantagesGreat products

DisadvantagesTreat their customers like scum

"Where do I start? I like Habitat's design like most of the people here, but their customer service is abysmal. I purchased four Flame chairs on 30 Nov 2006. When I unpacked them one was damaged, so began the frustrating and painfully slow process of getting it replaced. After hours (literally - the phone-back system at the TCR store does not work and no-one has the authority/inclination to action anything when you finally speak to someone) on the ..." Read review

Habitat - bad service

Advantageswell designed modern furniture

Disadvantagesterrible customer service

"I know I'm not the only one who's had a similarly bad experience, particularly with after sales care from habitat. See below for, I am sure, all too familiar correspondence..... Another huge problem with them is that it is impossible to get through to the store via phone. they have an answer machine "service" which evidently no one bothers to listen to (despite store manager telling me they do.) Added to my correspondence as below I have left several ..." Read review

I liked Habitat when it first opened...

Advantagessome really nice things can be bought here to furnish, equip a house and/or office

Disadvantagesvery few bargains

"When Habitat first opened it was exciting. The place to go. Habitat attracted crowds of shoppers. Everything looked new and interesting. A little bit too expensive but that was OK because it was modern. Sadly Habitat has lost its appeal. The windows displays are dull. The products hardly change. The cost has gone up. The quality is not as good as it used to be. I'm still a fan of Habitat because they do still innovate and they do have some desireable ..." Read review

Sofa not fit for purpose but habitat don't want to know!

AdvantagesNice when you first buy it!

DisadvantagesNo warranty; non-existant customer service; poor quality

"I bought a sofa from habitat and am very disappointed with it. After only light use (only used in the evening and we are not that heavy!!) the stuffing has nearly all gone out of it so that it is not that comfortable anymore. Tried to contact habitat about it by email on a number of occassions and they don't even bother to reply. Definitely won't be going back! I am surprised that the new owners of Habitat are not more concerned about keeping their ..." Read review

save yourselves and look elsewhere

AdvantagesNONE

DisadvantagesCRIMINALS

"Customer services is shocking. I ordered an item, nothing like the picture, I returned and 3 weeks later I have no clue where my item even is. I know my money isn't in my bank though! I've had no acknowledgement or refund or even one simple email. So I am persuing it on twitter and facebook, probably to be told to contact 'customer services' which is an 0844 number or an email address that you only get an auto mated response from. Please check ..." Read review
