Customer service a let down

Advantages: Low introductory APR, money back instead of points
Disadvantages: Poor customer service

I was attracted to the Halifax moneyback card by the thought of getting real money back instead of points for things that I didn't neccessarily want. Also, as I was transferring a balance from my Barclaycard, the introductory 3.9% APR on balance transfers was definately a deciding factor. The application process was straight forward enough and the card arrived within a few days. Transferring my balance was very easy - a simple phone call had it ...
...will. My thanks to Halifax for the great interest rate which has allowed my to clear a balance of about £3000.00 with a total interest charge of about £30.00 but I shall not be using you card any more. My experience with their credit card has also not helped my opinion of Halifax as a whole and I am in the process of moving all my banking to Barclays - but that's another write up...... ...

Cashback rate now dropped to 0.25% :-(

Advantages: Fee-free, not internet based, long interest free period, Platinum card - extra benefits
Disadvantages: None so far. Cash back rate now dropped to 0.25%

...recently succesfully applied for the Halifax Platinum moneyback card via an unsolicited form mailed to me. This offers: 1% moneyback No annual fee Paper statements Long interest-free period - 59 days. Compared to the Alliance & Leceister card, what I've really noticed is the length of the interest-free period - started using the card in the new year and I've only just paid it off - nearly 2 full months later! The card is offered in Visa and ...
...variaties. As a Visa Platinum card you get the standard Visa decreed benefits for Visa Gold card holders. All told this card is perfect for people who always pay off their account in full (I have no idea what the interest rates are, as I'm one of these people). Cash back for you to spend

Advantages: 1% hard cash back
Disadvantages: 15.9% interest rate isn't the cheapest

...make a purchase then the Halifax Gold Card could be the one for you. With an initial interest rate of 5.9% for balance transfers rising to 15.9% after 6 months it is still reasonably competitive while giving you more benefits than most. There is no annual fee and they offer a balance transfer facility so you can ditch some of the more expensive cards you have. ...unfriendly as well. The Halifax card can be either Visa or MasterCard although they seem to push the Visa card more heavily than the MasterCard. You do not seem to get bombarded with junk mail either. The statements are very clear and as it is not an “on-line” card you actually get a hard copy for your records. The cash back balance is shown on your statement every month in the form of points 10 points = £1 This is a card from a name ...

Good value and Flexible Card

Advantages: Excellent value
Disadvantages: Perhaps cannot pay up the bill over Halifax counter.

Halifax Cash Back card is the most competitive cash back card in the market at the moment after Egg cuts the cash back to 0.5%. This is an all around good card with no annual fee, good benefits and reasonable APR. Also, their lending criteria is considerably more relax compared to other lenders so if one have difficulties gaining gold card/cash back card elsewhere, Halifax may be a good place to start. Especially when you are Halifax customer, they ...

Their customer serive could be a bit difficult to get through at times but considering the benefits, I think it is worth it. While they do not allow payment to the card to be made over Halifax counters, they allow Online debit card payment which is a feature I love. Also, detailed transacion are provided online and are easy to be keep tracked of. The only ...

One of the best around

Advantages: Cashback on every purchase
Disadvantages: APR is quite high

I have had my Halifax Cashback Visa card for around 18 months, and for me it is superb. I get 1% cashback on every purchase I make and this is credited back to my account once a year. If like me you pay off your whole balance every month, then a cash back card is deffinately for you. I chose this card as I was not interested in getting air miles / other reward schemes, I wanted CASH. I currently get 1% cash back, but I think this might have now ...

Dont trust their operators or systems

...March this year I telephoned Halifax to transfer a balance of 3000.00 pounds from my Barclaycard account. I spoke to a very friendly helpful young man who assured me that this was a simple process. I checked how long it would take to transfer the money and I was assured that it would only take 10 working days. Plenty of time to pay off my Barclaycard account. I spent over 20 minutes on the telephone in total. Having given all the relevent information ...

After a long conversation at my expense I was put through to a supervisor. There was another lengthy conversation. She told me ...

Anyway- there are 2 better cards that offer 1% cashback no questions asked. A Capital One Circle card, and an American Express card. ...put £5,000 on the card. Halifax will then pay you £50 at the end of the year. You should probably only have one of these if you are in the habit of paying off your credit card bill at the end of every month because the interest rate although not extortionate (1.313% per month) I'm sure can be bettered. I believe that they are currently offering an interest rate of 3.9% pa on balance transfers for 6 months. I cannot understand why anyonewith a ...

Halifax

Advantages: Money to charity can be classed as tax relief
Disadvantages: unattractive design

The halifax charity visa card is very unattractive and the staff actually don't recognise it when you go into the bank. The intrest rate is fair, with 25p of every £100 spent in a single transaction going to either Mensa, Cancer research or other charity. Opening the account is simple and you can buy protection against redundancy to meet the card payments and have insurance on the cards. Other members of your family may hold a card as you are not ...

One of the best for cash back

Advantages: Great cashback, internet banking available
Disadvantages: Poor service (but improving)

...in earning cash back; the Halifax cash back deal is still one of the best on the market. If it's a low APR you're after, I suggest you look elsewhere. Halifax offer a few different credit cards, so if you're after the cashback, make sure you pick the right one. Mine's called the "Halifax Platinum Cashback card". There's no annual fee and you get between 0.5% and 1% cashback (it's currently 1% on all purchases, but will shortly reduce to 0.5% on ...

Being able to manage your account online is a definite advantage; you can keep track of what you've spent very easily. Unlike other cards with internet options, you can still receive a statement in the post free of charge. The internet service is very good; you can fully manage your account online if you wish. I did have a problem last year with the customer service ...

Warning - new, stingy moneyback terms

Advantages: none I'm aware of
Disadvantages: They have just reduced the moneyback

Disregard any previous feedback about their rewards. They used to pay 1% cashback on everything you spend. Now (in my case, with effect from 19 July 2003) you only get 0.5% on the first £12,000 spend. That means you get £60 less than you used to (if you spend the full £12,000). I'm either going to switch to a Capital One Circle card, as they pay 1% on everything. But the Tesco card seems to offer some very good savings on a whole range of goods ...

Disadvantages: Diffcult getting the Cash out of them

I have been a happy Halifax Credit card customer for a number of years the (classic card). The Cash back option on the card really interested me.
